Genesis cover

On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.

The print edition can be purchased at Amazon. from any other book seller, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.

The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.

"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News

Supreme Court declines case of blacklisted student who declared “There are only two genders”, proving the large leftist blob is not going away no matter what Trump does

The Supreme Court today declined by a vote of 7-2 to hear the case of Liam Morrison, who as a 12-year-old was sent home from Nichols Middle School in Massachusetts because he wore a T-shirt that said “There are only two genders.” Later he came to school wearing the shirt in the picture to the right, and was sent home again.

Morrison and his parents sued, noting in their complaint that since the 1960s the courts have consistently ruled that students have free speech rights. However, in almost all those earlier cases the students were expressing views supportive of leftist causes, so of course their first amendment rights were aggressively protected by the courts.

Because Liam Morrison was taking a conservative rightwing position, however, the court now believes students like him are too young to have first amendment rights, and so of course he has been effectively silenced in school, permanently.

This case illustrates something that all freedom-loving Americans had better recognize. Just because Trump is shutting down whole agencies, firing hundreds of thousands of leftist government workers, denying federal funds to indoctrination universities like Harvard, we should not assume that all will be well in just a few years.

No, not a chance. The fight for freedom is never-ending, even when a large majority of the population agrees with the principles as set forth in the Constitution and Bill of Rights. Unfortunately however we no longer live in such a country. Right now a very large plurality of Americans no longer believe in free speech and the Bill of Rights, and are quite willing to throw out the Constitution so that their side can be in power for all time.

The Supreme Court decision in this case today proves this point. Despite having six of its nine justices appointed by Republicans, that court has shown itself to be unwilling to stand firm for some basic very obvious Constitutional issues. For example, it has waffled on stopping the overreach by lower courts that has clearly violated the president’s powers under the Constitution while expanding the courts’ powers based on no Constitutional language.

Now it has waffled on the first amendment rights of students. Apparently there are enough judges in the Supreme Court willing to squelch free speech if it conflicts with their political positions, and so free speech no longer exists in America for conservative students.

Similarly, all those fired government workers who have been aggressively supporting the Democratic Party’s radical leftist and Marxist agendas for years are not going to disappear merely because Trump fired them. Nor are the universities like Harvard going to vanish. They will instead organize among themselves with the sole goal of regaining power, and if Americans don’t recognize this effort they are going to be blind-sided when these people win the next election. And when they do, you can be sure that their oppressive actions since 2020 will seem mild in comparison to what they will do once in power again.

The fight for freedom has hardly begun. Trump’s election was a small win in one battle. The war however is hardly over, and in fact, it appears it has only just begun.

Readers!

My annual February birthday fund-raising drive for Behind the Black is now over. Thank you to everyone who donated or subscribed. While not a record-setter, the donations were more than sufficient and slightly above average.

As I have said many times before, I can’t express what it means to me to get such support, especially as no one is required to pay anything to read my work. Thank you all again!

For those readers who like my work here at Behind the Black and haven't contributed so far, please consider donating or subscribing. My analysis of space, politics, and culture, taken from the perspective of an historian, is almost always on the money and ahead of the game. For example, in 2020 I correctly predicted that the COVID panic was unnecessary, that the virus was apparently simply a variation of the flu, that masks were not simply pointless but if worn incorrectly were a health threat, that the lockdowns were a disaster and did nothing to stop the spread of COVID. Every one of those 2020 conclusions has turned out right.

Your help allows me to do this kind of intelligent analysis. I take no advertising or sponsors, so my reporting isn't influenced by donations by established space or drug companies. Instead, I rely entirely on donations and subscriptions from my readers, which gives me the freedom to write what I think, unencumbered by outside influences.

You can support me either by giving a one-time contribution or a regular subscription. There are four ways of doing so:

1. Zelle: This is the only internet method that charges no fees. All you have to do is use the Zelle link at your internet bank and give my name and email address (zimmerman at nasw dot org). What you donate is what I get.

2. Patreon: Go to my website there and pick one of five monthly subscription amounts, or by making a one-time donation.

3. A Paypal Donation or subscription:

4. Donate by check, payable to Robert Zimmerman and mailed to

“Apparently there are enough judges in the Supreme Court willing to squelch free speech if it conflicts with their political positions”

    Or someone (China) owns them.

This kid is getting one heck of an education. I see him in 25 years as something like a Constitutional lawyer bringing hell to the left.

  • SCOTUS isn’t the one to enforce this. Trump DoEd / DoJ could enforce a cut of federal funds to schools that limit free speech. This would force the school district to go to court to get the money back. They would judge shop and end up with a Clinton / O’Bama / Biden judge who would issue a nationwide injunction against free speech (optics are great with this one). Trump DoJ would appeal it all the way to SCOTUS which would end up being forced to take the case. The question Roberts and his band of Merry Judges will have to face is which embarrassment do you want to deal with? The big one or the little one? My guess is they will be forced to deal with the big one. Cheers –

SCOTUS does not always get it right.
    Remember Dred Scott.
Just pray that it does not take that long, nor a violent conflict, to correct.

    It is too bad.
Following the UK Supreme Court’s recent ruling on biological sex, our Court could have really helped right things here by supporting the common sense point of view, and affirming that we do not have to buy into other peoples’ delusion, fetish and fantasy.
