My February birthday fund-raising campaign for Behind the Black is now over. Thank you to everyone that so generously donated. You don’t have to give anything to read my work, and yet so many of you donate or subscribe. I can’t express what that support means to me.

For those who still wish to support my work, please consider donating or subscribing to Behind the Black, either by giving a one-time contribution or a regular subscription. There are five ways of doing so:

1. Zelle: This is the only internet method that charges no fees. All you have to do is use the Zelle link at your internet bank and give my name and email address (zimmerman at nasw dot org). What you donate is what I get.

2. Patreon: Go to my website there and pick one of five monthly subscription amounts, or by making a one-time donation. Takes about a 10% cut.

3. A Paypal Donation or subscription, which takes about a 15% cut:

4. Donate by check. I get whatever you donate. Make the check payable to Robert Zimmerman and mail it to

Sorry about the lack of posts…

I feel obliged to apologize for the general low rate of posting the past few days. First I am still fighting this head cold, which though it appears to be fading it still leaves me foggy-brained at times. This situation was made worse today when the profile vanished from my Thunderbird email program. How it vanished remains a mystery, but it took me more than an hour to upload a back-up (from a week ago) and get it to work with the program. Thus I lost about a week’s emails.

Hardly a tragedy but all this has been quite exhausting. Hopefully by tomorrow things will run better.

Regardless, I want to thank my readers for their kind words and support. It is truly appreciated.

Genesis cover

On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.

The print edition can be purchased at Amazon or from any other book seller. If you want an autographed copy the price is $60 for the hardback and $45 for the paperback, plus $8 shipping for each. Go here for purchasing details. The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.

The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.

"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News

Slow posts, no posts, it doesn’t matter. When you are sick the best thing to do is take care of yourself. Do what you gotta do.

    Get well soon.

    Cotour,

There are no miracle supplements. I’ve been taking vitamin D3 for years but I still get sick sometimes. Over the past five years that has included a fairly moderate case of Covid-19, a decidedly immoderate case of flu that was much worse than the Covid, and a couple of colds, the most recent of which I’m still getting over.

I have a spot on a kidney which I discovered after being hospitalized for lungs full of clots/embolisms. That was in 2024They want me to have heart valve surgery but I have no money–so things could be worse.

Don’t let doctors near you except to set limbs.

I DEMAND THAT THIS FREE ICE CREAM MACHINE BE FIXED IMMEDIATELY!!!

Take your time, wait to do much of anything until you feel better. Your loyal ‘net-surfers will wait it out, knowing that you’ll be back soon.

Nothing wrong with sleeping for a big bunch of hours of the day when you can, just to rest up and let your body use its energy to fight off whatever you caught. We’ll still be here.

Well okay I guess, but you better get back on the horse soon and post some clickbait garbage or your advertising revenue will drop.

Also, I think I speak for everyone when I say, “We hope you feel better”.

  • John: Heh. Maybe if I had some ads and posted some clickbait articles NASA might finally listen to me!

    Get well soon, Bob!
