Genesis cover

On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.

The print edition can be purchased at Amazon. from any other book seller, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.

The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.

"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News

Readers!

Please consider supporting my work here at Behind the Black. Your support allows me the freedom and ability to analyze objectively the ongoing renaissance in space, as well as the cultural changes -- for good or ill -- that are happening across America. Fourteen years ago I wrote that SLS and Orion were a bad ideas, a waste of money, would be years behind schedule, and better replaced by commercial private enterprise. Only now does it appear that Washington might finally recognize this reality.

In 2020 when the world panicked over COVID I wrote that the panic was unnecessary, that the virus was apparently simply a variation of the flu, that masks were not simply pointless but if worn incorrectly were a health threat, that the lockdowns were a disaster and did nothing to stop the spread of COVID. Only in the past year have some of our so-called experts in the health field have begun to recognize these facts.

Your help allows me to do this kind of intelligent analysis. I take no advertising or sponsors, so my reporting isn't influenced by donations by established space or drug companies. Instead, I rely entirely on donations and subscriptions from my readers, which gives me the freedom to write what I think, unencumbered by outside influences.

You can support me either by giving a one-time contribution or a regular subscription. There are four ways of doing so:

1. Zelle: This is the only internet method that charges no fees. All you have to do is use the Zelle link at your internet bank and give my name and email address (zimmerman at nasw dot org). What you donate is what I get.

2. Patreon: Go to my website there and pick one of five monthly subscription amounts, or by making a one-time donation.

3. A Paypal Donation or subscription:

    One of my favorite tunes.
    Thanks Rocco!

    Always loved Grace & Airplane!
    (She’s especially cute circa ’65, ’66.)

–To bad they were such radical communist revolutionary’s!
These (type of) people are running the whole Country now.
    >>Listen to the complete live-version of “Volunteers” (not the short “clean” version.)
“Who will take it from you, we will, and who are we?
    We’re the Volunteers of America….
    We’ll lie, cheat, steal……….”

  • Wayne

    Whoops!…I’ve comingled two Airplane tunes.

-From the Volunteers album, but not “Volunteers,”
    rather:
    ————————————————————————————
“We Can be Together” (yeah… right… read along.)

“We can be together, Ah you and me, We should be together.

We are all Outlaws in the eyes of America.
In order to survive we steal, cheat, lie, forge, f&ck, hide and deal.
We are obscene, lawless, hideous, dangerous, dirty, violent and young.

    But we should be together,
Come on all you people standing around,
Our life’s too fine to let it die and We can be together.

All your private property, is Target for your enemy,
    And your enemy is… We.

We are forces of chaos and anarchy,
Everything they say we are, we are! And we are very….
    Proud of ourselves…..

Up against the wall Up against the wall f%$ker! (motherf**ker!)
Tear down the walls Tear down the walls,
Come on now together, Get it on together
Everybody together, We should be together…

We should be together my friends, We can be together.
We will be, We must begin here and now,
A new continent of earth and fire!

Come on now gettin’ higher and higher, Tear down the walls
    Tear down the walls
    Tear down the walls
    Won’t you try!”
    ———————————————————-
    Copyrighted material.
(But they don’t really believe in that, either. > Just when they are collecting their royalty checks.)

People like this, have been running the Country far too long.

    >>Pull the Article 5, ‘Tyranny Escape Hatch’, before it’s too late.

    Wayne,
Your comment about the 60’s radicals triggered an old memory.
Check out this video from an ex-KGB communist defector Yuri Bezmenov. I think it is interesting.

    Rocco–
Grace was definitely cute, especially early on, but reminds me of the “angry hippie chick” who just won’t shut up about “class struggle,” — ya know?!

Thanks for that link. -Enjoyed his phrase, “half-baked intellectuals.”

The Left has totally subverted our Popular Culture, and they spare no expense to dress up their ideology, via Film, Music, Literature, etc.

The Steppenwolf tune, “Monster” also comes to mind…
A really great tune & very well written.
It could be reworked slightly & turned back on them, especially in the current decade.

(Indulge me, I do have the lyrics handy!)
    ——————————————————–
    Monster
    (Steppenwolf)

“Once the religious, the hunted and weary, Chasing the promise of freedom and hope.
Came to this country to build a new vision, Far from the reaches of Kingdom and Pope,
Like good Christians, some would burn the witches, Later some got slaves to gather riches.

But still from near and far to seek America, They came by thousands, to court the wild.
But She just patiently smiled and bore a child, To be their Spirit and guiding light.

And once the ties with the crown had been broken, Westward in saddle and wagon it went.
And ’til the railroads linked ocean to ocean, Many the lives which had come to an end.
While we bullied, stole and bought our a homeland, We began the slaughter of the red man.

The Blue and Gray they stomped it, They kicked it just like a dog.
And when the War was over, They stuffed it just like a hog.

And though the past has it’s share of injustice, Kind was the Spirit in many a way.
But it’s protectors and friends have been sleeping, Now it’s a Monster and will not obey.

The spirit was Freedom and Justice,
And it’s keepers seem friendly and kind.
It’s leaders were supposed to serve the Country,
But now they won’t pay it no mind.

‘Cuz the people got fat and grew lazy, Now their Vote is like a meaningless joke.
You know they talk about Law, about Order, But it’s all just an echo of what they’ve been told.

‘Cuz there’s a Monster on the loose, It’s got our heads into a noose,
And it just sits there, watching……

Our Cities have turned into jungles, And corruption is strangling the Land.
The police force is watching the People, And the People they just can’t understand.

We don’t know how to mind our own business, ‘Cuz the whole worlds got to be just like us.
Now we are fighting a War over there, No matter who wins, you know we can’t pay the cost.

    America where are you now?
Don’t you care about your sons and daughters?
Don’t you know, we need you now,
We can’t fight alone against the monster.
    ————————————————————

Tell me– ring’s pretty true, today, eh?
(We were never “perfect” just infinitely better, than everywhere else on Earth.)

Q: Does Trump realize Putin is KGB? (They don’t “make deals,” they shoot you & expropriate your wealth.)
