Boeing is considering building a civilian version of the X-37B mini-shuttle.
The competition heats up: Boeing is considering building a civilian version of the X-37B mini-shuttle.
On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.
The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.
The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.
"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News

It is interesting that they can add external storage to the X-37b. I wonder how it would compare to other cargo delivery systems?
It has been doing such a good job, scaling up for crew seems like a good idea especially if it could stay equally long in orbit. Great lifeboat possibility.
Seven people seems like such a small number. I wonder what is the maximum size vehicle they could put on existing EELVs that would carry the maximum amount of people. More seats might possibly lower the cost per seat.
Well that is one way to quickly come up with a passenger ship.
Use an already proven and existing design. I wonder who could have thought of that idea?
But as an emergency rescue vehicle. Its not a good idea. It costs far to much to permanently park on the station. One of the dragon capsules or one of the Russian ships would be a far better choice.
Using one of these reusable ships as a rescue craft would be like using a Lamborghini as a taxi.
