Readers!
Every February I run a fund-raising drive during my birthday month. This year I celebrate my 72nd birthday, and hope and plan to continue writing and posting on Behind the Black for as long as I am able.
I hope my readers will support this effort. As I did in my November fund-raising drive, I am offering autographed copies of my books for large donations. Donate $250 and you can have a choice of the hardback of either Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8 or Conscious Choice: The origins of slavery in America and why it matters today and for our future in outer space. Donate $200 and you can get an autographed paperback copy of either. IMPORTANT! If you donate enough to get a book, please email me separately to tell me which book you want and the address to mail it to.
Please consider supporting my work here at Behind the Black. My analysis of space, politics, and culture, taken from the perspective of an historian, is almost always on the money and ahead of the game. For example, in 2020 I correctly predicted that the COVID panic was unnecessary, that the virus was apparently simply a variation of the flu, that masks were not simply pointless but if worn incorrectly were a health threat, that the lockdowns were a disaster and did nothing to stop the spread of COVID. Every one of those 2020 conclusions has turned out right.
Your help allows me to do this kind of intelligent analysis. I take no advertising or sponsors, so my reporting isn't influenced by donations by established space or drug companies. Instead, I rely entirely on donations and subscriptions from my readers, which gives me the freedom to write what I think, unencumbered by outside influences.
You can support me either by giving a one-time contribution or a regular subscription. There are four ways of doing so:
1. Zelle: This is the only internet method that charges no fees. All you have to do is use the Zelle link at your internet bank and give my name and email address (zimmerman at nasw dot org). What you donate is what I get.
2. Patreon: Go to my website there and pick one of five monthly subscription amounts, or by making a one-time donation.
3. A Paypal Donation or subscription:
4. Donate by check, payable to Robert Zimmerman and mailed to

This will be interesting, how will the first amendment ( the free exchange of the information or the program) and the second amendment, the right to bear arms be viewed now?
Will the program become illegal to own or access? Will you need local govermnet permission to access it? Will both be banned? Will you need a backround check in order to use one or both?
The power of the Constitution is that it is simple, about four pages for the entire document, not 2700 pages. Its over interpretation is very limited to what it actually means.
Thomas are you reading this?
The interchangeable barrels are probably also useful due to the likely short lifespan of the part.
Ya know, there are 3d metal printers.
Based on the article, the main purpose of the interchangeable barrels is to allow you to change your caliber of ammo. In other words, if you happen to have 9mm, you can switch to use that ammo. If you get some 45, you switch to that.
At the moment, I am only guessing, as the article doesn’t specific the calibers. What this flexibility does do is make it even more difficult for the government to ban this weapon.
They have been doing this Ar-15 lower receivers for a few years now.
Its taken them a while to work out all the problems but they work with all AR uppers and 99% of the rest of the parts to the gun.
In fact there is a group working on making a replacement frame for a polymer framed semi auto handgun. Like the Glock but not the Glock.
I like this liberator in that it doesn’t need any outside parts other than ammo and a nail.
Do you need a license to buy ammo in the US?
(Yes, I did Google.. seems you only sometimes needed proof-of-age as of 2006).
Here in Australia, you have to show your shooting license, and can only buy bullets for the class of weapon you’re licensed to own.
I have bought ammo numerous times and never remember having to show any proof of anything, or even sign any forms. (I suspect they asked to see my drivers license to prove my age, but I don’t remember this.)
No license is required to buy ammo in almost every state in the union. There are a few states that have started to regulate ammo sales, but they are the exception that proves the rule. Generally, you find a place that sells what you want at a good price, and buy it. And I have done this on the internet several times, buying in bulk.
You know that there are people in the country that want you to have to ask government for permission to purchase these items. They are under the impression that that is how things should be, they do not understand the slippery slope nature of that kind of thinking.
The biggest problem right now is the total lack of ANY pistol or common rifle ammo on the open market.
I have not seen a box of 22lr at a reasonable price in more than a year and only a few times have I seen 9mm or any other pistol ammo even on the shelf.
I’m reduced to buying components and reloading my own.
I have in the past bought cases of ammo over the internet buy just using a credit card and a emailed photo of my state drivers license to prove my age.
My mailman doesn’t like me for it because they weigh a ton and he has to load and unload his own truck.
