Readers! A November fund-raising drive!

It is unfortunately time for another November fund-raising campaign to support my work here at Behind the Black. I really dislike doing these, but 2025 is so far turning out to be a very poor year for donations and subscriptions, the worst since 2020. I very much need your support for this webpage to survive.

And I think I provide real value. Fifteen years ago I said SLS was garbage and should be cancelled. Almost a decade ago I said Orion was a lie and a bad idea. As early as 1998, long before almost anyone else, I predicted in my first book, Genesis: The Story of Apollo 8, that private enterprise and freedom would conquer the solar system, not government. Very early in the COVID panic and continuing throughout I noted that every policy put forth by the government (masks, social distancing, lockdowns, jab mandates) was wrong, misguided, and did more harm than good. In planetary science, while everyone else in the media still thinks Mars has no water, I have been reporting the real results from the orbiters now for more than five years, that Mars is in fact a planet largely covered with ice.

I could continue with numerous other examples. If you want to know what others will discover a decade hence, read what I write here at Behind the Black. And if you read my most recent book, Conscious Choice, you will find out what is going to happen in space in the next century.

This last claim might sound like hubris on my part, but I base it on my overall track record.

So please consider donating or subscribing to Behind the Black, either by giving a one-time contribution or a regular subscription. I could really use the support at this time. There are five ways of doing so:

1. Zelle: This is the only internet method that charges no fees. All you have to do is use the Zelle link at your internet bank and give my name and email address (zimmerman at nasw dot org). What you donate is what I get.

2. Patreon: Go to my website there and pick one of five monthly subscription amounts, or by making a one-time donation. Takes about a 10% cut.

3. A Paypal Donation or subscription, which takes about a 15% cut:

4. Donate by check. I get whatever you donate. Make the check payable to Robert Zimmerman and mail it to

Local officials deny pro-Trump group rally permit

Fascist California: Citing safety concerns local officials in the town of Upland, California have denied a permit for a pro-Trump rally.

An ACT for America rally was being planned for Sept. 9 in Upland at the Madonna of the Trail, according to a Facebook post. The location of the rally, which now says “Inland Empire ((somewhere))” was changed Friday after a top Upland official made it clear a permit for the rally would be denied.

It is part of “America First” rallies being held nationwide that day. “This event will be in dedication to all first responders and national security. We appreciate all the hard work our men and woman of service has provided for our protection. As Americans we are giving thanks for protecting our beautiful country,” the Facebook description stated. [emphasis mine]

These officials are essentially endorsing the heckler’s veto, and I bet they are doing it because they agree with the fascist leftwing brownshirts that are attacking conservatives nationwide in order to silence them.

In other words, the first amendment no longer exists in California. Be warned if you go there to protest or speak any conservative ideas. You will either find government officials working to squelch your right to speak, or they will look away (as they did in Berkeley) when thugs move in to beat you up.

Let me add this question: Since when did Americans need permission from government officials to protest?

Genesis cover

On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.

The print edition can be purchased at Amazon or from any other book seller. If you want an autographed copy the price is $60 for the hardback and $45 for the paperback, plus $8 shipping for each. Go here for purchasing details. The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.

The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.

"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News

Let me add this question: Since when did Americans need permission from government officials to protest?

The Tea Party jumped through all of the hoops, even renting porta potties when needed. OWS just took stuff over and never left. Democrats aren’t going to let a permitting process stop them from protesting. The rules are only for other people to follow.

Never. Still less do they need government permission to publicly celebrate. The planned event was not a protest, it was a celebration.

Robert wrote: “Let me add this question: Since when did Americans need permission from government officials to protest?

As the article describes it: “This event will be in dedication to all first responders and national security. We appreciate all the hard work our men and woman of service has provided for our protection. As Americans we are giving thanks for protecting our beautiful country.” So, a better question might be: Who would protest against first responders?

An answer comes from the article: “At least two counterprotests had already popped up on Facebook; One counter event, called “United4Love2,” says it will be held in Upland but didn’t give a location.”

wodun has it right. The counter-first-respondent protesters have announced their protest without bothering to get permissions from the city to gather there for the purpose of getting violent.

The counter protesters “aren’t going to let a permitting process stop them from protesting.

I would ask what city would be against first responders, but that has been answered by Upland, California.

“our men and woman of service”

Typo or is there really only one of us? :)

    Update:
The prayer rally on Saturday has been moved to a federal park site to avoid the permit problem. Cars, bikes etc. have been banned to make it harder for the conservatives to get there. The fighting has already begun as students and teachers? Dressed in black ninja uniforms began attacking. (most are calling them “paid actors” because it has been revealed in Charlottesville that the protesters were bussed in and given T-shirts to wear telling them which side they would be on in the protest.) (now you understand why the police were told to stand down, this was a choreographed event.)
Today’s violence was unprovoked. Even CNN could not help themselves when they posted the video.

Call to arms for all in San Francisco.
    http://www.sfexaminer.com/white-supremacist-patriot-rally-coming-san-francisco-counter-protest-already-planned/
The Nazis deny planning to go to San Francisco, they want to have fun at burning man.
Another rally is planned on Sunday by a transgender person who hates what’s happening to their beloved Berkeley. Call for tolerance and free speech and to stop the violence.
Once the hate and the violence without consequence has been unleashed, can anyone controll it? We shall wait and see.
History is repeating itself. The brown shirts, who wear black now, are revealing themselves. We all know what they really are.
By their fruits you shall know them…
