At last some real pushback against the left’s slander culture
For years I have been writing about the slander culture of the left, whereby they can say any lie about anyone who disagrees with them without any consequence. These lies are often pure slander and defamation, based on no facts. Often they grow to a point that anyone attacked in this manner becomes a persona non grata, ostracized by all society out of fear.
Here are some recent examples of this kind of slander:
Ten solid years of this by these monsters and their handmaidens in the media. It cost a father his life, but it will cost them their future. We have crossed the Rubicon.
The Democrats must be held to account every single day. pic.twitter.com/dqTPEWyt4V
— James Woods (@RealJamesWoods) September 15, 2025
This is what destroyed the Proud Boys organization. The left — and the propaganda press that works for it — labeled it as “racist”, “white supremacist”, and “neo-fascist” based on no evidence, so that soon it collapsed because ordinary people were afraid to associate with it. And in describing this slander campaign back in 2019, I correctly predicted even worse:
I fully expect the rhetoric against Trump supporters in the coming election to spread and get more vicious. This in turn will act to encourage more extreme actions, including violence comparable to what Antifa now does with impunity in Portland. Be prepared. When people abandon the truth for emotional labels inspired by hate, they are liable to do anything.
Meanwhile, this lying name-calling never seemed to carry any consequences. Big name Democratic Party politicians, celebrities, and leftist pundits could defame conservatives routinely in the same manner and get away with it. The only ones who would suffer would be the unjustly accused.
The events in the past two days in connection with former host Jimmy Kimmel of Jimmy Kimmel Live! however tells me that the murder of Charlie Kirk has truly changed things.

Jimmy Kimmel on September 15, 2025, spreading lies and
slandering half the nation. Click for original video.
First, a summary of what happened. Kimmel during his show’s opening monologue on September 15, 2025 blatantly lied, claiming that Kirk’s murderer was a conservative and part of Trump’s MAGA movement. Not only was this statement fundamentally untrue, based all the available evidence, it was an evil slander against the millions of people who voted for Donald Trump.
The uproar against Kimmel was immediate and gigantic. Within hours local affiliates told ABC they would not air Jimmy Kimmel Live!. FCC chairman Brendan Carr said that if ABC did not take action to publicly correct the record its FCC license could be revoked.
It is important to point out that Kimmel did not lose his job because of government action — though that action was threatened. He got fired because numerous ABC affiliate stations told the network that they would no longer air his show. These local stations decided they had had enough of this slander culture. It had to stop.
ABC was thus forced to take action. It knew that if it didn’t address the concerns of its local affiliates, its entire network could collapse.
Nor is Kimmel’s removal an unjustified action similar to the hundreds of blacklisting cases I have documented since 2020. Kimmel wasn’t fired because he stated an opinion based on reasonable facts — the typical situation when conservatives were blacklisted for the past decade. He was fired for spreading a lie about current events that could be easily verified to be false in only a few seconds of research on line. And the lie was expressly designed to defame Kimmel’s political opponents in the most vile manner.
What makes this story different and a sign that Kirk’s assassination has truly changed the political equation is the quick decision of so many ABC affiliates to take action. For the past decade, as shown in the video above, Democrats would call Trump and his supporters “fascists,” “Nazis,” “white supremacists,” “racists”, and worse, and such people would shrug and do nothing. “It’s just the ordinary give and take of politics. Nothing to see here!”
This time however they rose up in outrage, demanding that ABC do so as well or face unpleasant consequences.
We have seen a similar firm response to the thousands of leftists who posted videos celebrating gleefully the murder of Kirk, with almost all who have been identified now fired or facing serious personal consequences. Employers are no longer willing to tolerate such behavior from their workers. You act like a vicious fool who supports murder for political purposes, you can find another place to work.
Kimmel’s firing however raises this response to a whole new level. The TikTok influencers who have been fired were also unknown, with little power. Kimmel however was a big name hosting the major late night show on television. His quick removal signals that cultural shift quite starkly.
The left is no longer going to get away with slander and lies. It must now recognize that there will be consequences for such misbehavior. Kirk’s death was the final blow. Americans of all stripes and political beliefs just aren’t going to stand by and tolerate this evil any longer.
Finally, good men are no longer doing nothing.
On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.
The print edition can be purchased at Amazon or from any other book seller. If you want an autographed copy the price is $60 for the hardback and $45 for the paperback, plus $8 shipping for each. Go here for purchasing details. The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.
The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.
"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News

Robert,
I don’t mean to derail your rant, because it’s a good one. But, in the interest of accuracy, Kimmel hosts “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on ABC.
The “Tonight Show” is hosted by Jimmy Fallon on NBC. It’s easy to confuse the two.
Chuck
An NY Post story suggests ABC insiders feel the networks lawyers could have prevented the debacle and didn’t, which is interesting if true.
Chuck: Thank you. As I haven’t watched this tv drivel in decades, my link to it is poor. I have fixed my error.
And still the country is going in the correct general direction:
“An immigration judge ordered alleged Hamas sympathizer Mahmoud Khalil deported from the U.S. for failing to disclose certain information on his green card application.
Judge Jamee Comans ordered Khalil deported to Algeria or Syria, finding that he “willfully misrepresented” details on his green card application to circumvent the immigration process, according to court documents filed on Wednesday.”
And I am hearing the beginnings of revealing the Zohran Mamdani / ANTIFA connection.
Stay tuned as the Democrat party machine continues to unravel and self-destruct.
Who will save them from themselves? No credible human being exists at this time, and it does not look like they will be showing up any time soon.
The correct general direction.
Soooo, cancel culture is cool as long as it supports your beliefs?
Free speech should only be free if it supports your viewpoints?
That’s what this reads like.
Mike a: If you choose not to carefully read what I wrote, that’s your problem. I very carefully outlined what made this different very fundamentally from the blacklisting the left has engaged in for the past decade.
Kimmel committed outright slander while spreading what he knew was an outright lie. That makes him unqualified to have the kind of soapbox he had on ABC.
It is also so completely different than the kinds of things the left has been censoring people for since Obama’s term that it laughable you can’t see the difference.
Kimmel will certainly find another job at some leftwing propaganda outfit. Whether anyone decent will want to watch him is another story.
The Kimmel show was already on the chopping block. Just like all the other late night shows.
Its starting to prove out that all left leaning business models are pretty much failures without support from the right.
“”Kimmel will certainly find another job at some leftwing propaganda outfit. Whether anyone decent will want to watch him is another story””
Look for the Geoff Soros funded book deals any day now.
Just imagine being the ghost writer for the likes of Kimmel. Yuck.
Bob-
Frankly, I think it’s odd that a champion of freedom, such as yourself, can’t see the irony of censoring a guy on a show nobody watches because you dislike his views.
(I have not watched one second of any of the recent late night shows. Late night died when Letterman quit.)
Also, I don’t think Kimmel pointing out the murderer is from a conservative background is slander. It’s fact, as his grandmother was quoted. I’m not sure why people have become so enraged by that.
To end on optimism, I am reassured by the outpouring of sympathy and support extended to Mr Kirk’s family. If you’re paying attention, that IS coming from both sides of the political spectrum.
No sane person advocates for murder. Period. Full stop.
When Tucker Carlson and Megyn Kelly were released from Fox News, they went on and put together podcasts with impressive listener numbers. (and revenue) Kimmel (and Colbert) could do the same … and if there are enough people who will still listen to them, they might even begin to think that their old bosses did them a favor by letting them go.
But Kimmel went over the line … he exploited a murder to smear his political opponents as murderous, and – like so many others – mocked the murdered man … while others celebrated the murder as justified.
Mike a, the people you are now seeing “cancelled”, and not just in the media, exhibited an abject lack of respect for the life and liberty of a fellow citizen in their celebration and mockery. Taking a look as these people, they are by-and-large in positions of trust and influence – media figures, educators, medical professionals, customer-facing business personnel, and at least one or two involved in the restaurant business. That lack of respect undermines our ability to trust them to do right by us in the performance of their duties.
When I’m going in for a colonoscopy, I don’t want anyone in the room – especially a gastroenterologist or anesthesiologist – who hates my guts and would celebrate my death.
Robert wrote: “You act like a vicious fool who supports murder for political purposes, you can find another place to work.”
I see it a little differently. I don’t think it is as political as many people assume. With all these shootings this may be a response to early warning signs. If you act like you support murder, how can we trust that you won’t murder your fellow employees. If one of these people did murder any fellow employee, then wouldn’t the employer be subject to lawsuits for ignoring these early warning signs?
Kimmel did not seem so joyous or potentially murderous, but when he would not apologize or correct his slander he angered enough of his audience to make him even less popular than he was two weeks ago, when his show was losing money. Even the women of The View are willing to correct their errors.
____________
A side comment on these late night shows: I liked Johnny Carson, as he was funny, performed hilarious skits, and was a fabulous interviewer. David Letterman was none of these. I was disappointed with Jay Leno when he capitulated to network demands to be more like Letterman rather than like Carson. I also liked Greg Kinnear and was disappointed when he gave up his brief stint hosting a late night show in favor of movie acting. I finally got over that disappointment a couple of years ago, but only because his continuing acting talent is fresh in my memory and his late night show is not. After the loss of Kinnear, I gave up on late night television.
The Federal Communications Commission’s prohibition against the broadcast of hoaxes is set forth at Section 73.1217 of the Commission’s rules, 47 C.F.R. § 73.1217.
This rule prohibits broadcast licensees or permittees from broadcasting false information concerning a crime or a catastrophe if:
1) the licensee knows this information is false;
2) it is foreseeable that broadcast of the information will cause substantial public harm; and
3) broadcast of the information does in fact directly cause substantial public harm.
Mike a,
You wrote: “Frankly, I think it’s odd that a champion of freedom, such as yourself [Robert], can’t see the irony of censoring a guy on a show nobody watches because you dislike his views.”
Except that Kimmel has not been censored. In fact, it was easy to suspend his show indefinitely for the same reason you stated: nobody watched it. There is no irony to be had, here.
“Also, I don’t think Kimmel pointing out the murderer is from a conservative background is slander.”
Ah, but that is not what Kimmel said. Had you read (or understood) Robert’s summary of what happened, you would have known that. Since you don’t watch Kimmel, you have formed your poor opinions from sources that have lied to you.
Soooo, lies are cool as long as they support your viewpoints?
“No sane person advocates for murder.”
Another good reason for those cheering Kirk’s murder to lose their jobs, if they are as insane as you say. Insanity has its consequences, and the insane are not good for society. Either they must be cured or separated from the rest of us, for everyone’s safety.
“I’m not sure why people have become so enraged by that.”
People have not become enraged by the lie you heard. They have become enraged that so many of what you call the insane have cheered the murderer (to the point of naming legislation after him) of a pharmaceutical executive and expressed sorrow that Trump was not assassinated, and that these actions caused this young man to feel that it was acceptable to murder someone of similar political leaning. They are enraged that so many of the left-leaning people of this country express these advocacies of murder. They are enraged that so many of the left-leaning people of this country advocated for riots in which dozens were killed and hundreds were injured, and that Kamala Harris, before she was vice-president, was funding bail for the rioters, and that others were advocating for the riots to continue. These people advocated for violence and continued murder.
And here you are, defending the people you say are not sane.
The suspension – and possible demise – of Jimmy Kimmel’s show is a product of changing times along a number of axes. The most important is the cultural ascendancy of the right over the past decade. The right hardly dominates the culture as yet, but the trend line is certainly in that direction. The left, as bullies too long uncontested tend to do, got a bit too matter-of-fact about what it regarded as its privileges. It is increasingly proving too flabby and senescent to fight back effectively. The leftist witch doctors keep invoking the same old spells, but they have largely ceased to work. The old magic has gone away. I believe the recent neologism/acronym FAFO is now in play in a way it hadn’t been for decades. Leftists now no longer enjoy widespread patents of immunity.
Second, is a technological shift. The advent of ubiquitous broadband Internet allowed the creation of social networking sites, sites that support posting of “homemade” video content of all sorts, and on-demand streaming services. These are the chosen media of most Millennials and Zoomers. The consumption of conventional broadcast media – that operate on a schedule – has declined pretty much across the board in these demographics or had never been there at all in many cases. Traditional scheduled network TV is now watched mainly by we old-crock Boomers and we are dying off. As we do, scheduled TV will die along with us. Heck, I’m old enough to remember when neither CBS nor ABC had any programming after 11 PM. NBC invented “late night” with the Tonight Show in the 50s and had the place all to itself for a couple of decades. But just as late night chat/variety shows expanded, they will now recede. Evening network news shows will likely soon be on the chopping block for the same reason – too few remaining viewers to cover the considerable costs and way too few “in the demo” as the saying in the industry goes.
A third axis of decline is simply the degeneration, over time, of the show hosts in late night network TV. Leno maintained a consistent level of quality during his entire run as had Carson before him. Another who did the same was Craig Ferguson. But Letterman – brilliant in his early days – was pretty much just phoning it in during his last decade. Fallon, Corden and even Kimmel were also very good early on but degenerated as they got more overtly political. Colbert and Myers, of course, were leftist cretins from the get-go.
And so we have arrived at a point where the best-rated late night show is now Greg Gutfeld’s on Fox. And even he has only a fraction of the audience that watched late night shows two decades or more ago. So it goes.
“These local stations” belonged to the Nexstar Media group, who is “seeking regulatory approval from the FCC for its planned $6.2 billion merger with Tegna”, so yes their bailing was due to the FCC Chair explicitly admonishing such “affiliates” to act against Kimmel.
So YES, Kimmel DID lose his job because of government actions and threats thereof.
I wanna see more marxist-dems get wrecked. They deserve it for their sustained support of the escalation of these decades-long tactics. The retribution needs to be just, with sustained shame over time-remembered and personally-financially painful to be effective.
It’s not just for supporting of slanderous, damaging rhetoric. It’s also for the property and social damage. There’s years of it gone unpunished. Communities ruined, local lives of strangers damaged by interlopers of BLM/anti-first amendment (antifa) and others.
Kimmel could’ve asked himself a very simple question that would’ve brought much needed perspective to the situation:
“What would Carson do?”
Alas.
Brian S—
Affiliate groups like Nextstar and Sinclair, own individual broadcast TV stations that have FFC licenses. Those licenses are placed at risk when network programming goes overboard, and the terms of their contracts get violated. Nextstar and Sinclair don’t want to pay for programming their audiences won’t watch and jeopardizes their licenses.
In case nobody was paying attention, the 2 major media conglomerates were bought out in the last 2-3 years, and those mergers are now in the completion & finalization stage in 2025. The new owners don’t want to continue with losing shows with zero ratings that alienate half the population.

“Jay Leno sits down with Adam Carolla for a tearjerker interview. You’ll love Jay even more after hearing this story. At the height of his time hosting NBC’s “The Tonight Show,” Jay Leno reportedly earned a $30 million salary. But in 2012, he took a 50% pay cut — bringing his salary down to about $15 million, to avoid laying off some of his crew and to pay his staff better. Jay also confirms the rumor that to this day he still hasn’t spent a penny of his Tonight Show earnings.”
Mike a (left off the “hole” part) and Brian s (left off the “for brains” part) are your typical lefties. They try to rationalize Kimmell’s firing for his outright lies as being the fault of decent people who don’t want him or his ideology costing them their livelihoods! It’s sad that it took the murder of a good man to end the hatred spewed so gleefully by the leftists!
PS. I don’t think the “verify you’re human “ thing works – too many inhumane nitwits seem to pass it!
BLSinSC: This is a warning. You are skirting the line of breaking my two basic rules for commenting, obscenities and insult. If you don’t have anything constructive to say, than keep quiet. Coming here similar to imply curses while spewing out insults accomplishes nothing.
Do this again and I’ll ban you for a week.
“Verify you’re human,”
I would of course defer to Shane the Website Engineer Guy but, I’m led to believe the Cloudflare widget is analyzing the movement(s) of the cursor (among other things) because humans interact with the page differently than machines.
I actually miss “The Man Show” with both Kimmel and Carolla.
Different times–to steal a line from TNG’s Riker–things are “wrapped up so tight there’s no joy in anything.”

mike a:
as gov’t airwaves the fcc license needs to support the common good, and does not allow for known falsehoods.
kimmy jimmel wasn’t censored- his broadcast went out. he was removed because of its content.
jimmel did not point out that the shooter was from any kind of background, he claimed that the murderer was right wing conservative maga himself, which no evidence supports.
it should be no surprise that there is an outpouring of sympathy from “both sides.” but nearly one hundred percent of the vile nastiness being spewed comes only from one side.
The problem is “good people will not stand for it.” We saw in Charlottesville’s subway that there no good people to aid nor hinder an racist murderer. It seems that 40% of the population is prepared to murder you should they dislike your political views. When civil discourse collapses and the Luddites and Jacobins emerge what will follow in the the future will defy imagination. Civilization has always been a thin veneer, the British discarded it at Dresden during WW2 and while Americans protest Hiroshima the Tokyo firebombing was far more devastating and directly aimed at a civilian target. I do not condemn these acts, but rather show the results that follow when morality collapses. Both Germany and Japan sowed the seeds of these raids. The Left is doing it now just as the radicals in Boston funded John Brown and insured Southern moderates would be silenced. The Left loves violence and chaos. It just doesn’t believe what it will reap nor care.
Mike a,
You wrote: “m, I am reassured by the outpouring of sympathy and support extended to Mr Kirk’s family. If you’re paying attention, that IS coming from both sides of the political spectrum.”
If you were paying attention, then you would have realized that after a bunch of Republicans practicing for a baseball game, sympathy came from both sides and everyone agreed to be less volatile with their words, then the left started being vitriolic again. Then after Senator Rand Paul was beat up by a neighbor, sympathy came from both sides and everyone agreed to be less volatile with their words, then the left started being vitriolic again (one time on the steps of the Supreme Court building). Then after someone was arrested for intent to murder a Trump-appointed Supreme Court Justice, sympathy came from both sides and everyone agreed to be less volatile with their words, then the left started being vitriolic again. Then after Trump was almost assassinated, sympathy came from both sides and everyone agreed to be less volatile with their words, then the left started being vitriolic again. Then after Trump was almost assassinated again, sympathy came from both sides and everyone agreed to be less volatile with their words, then the left started being vitriolic again. Then after Charlie Kirk was assassinated, sympathy came from both sides and the left is being vitriolic.
Fortunately there is no discernible pattern here, otherwise we might conclude that leftists, including and especially Democrats, cry crocodile tears and say things that they don’t mean and don’t intend to abide.
The left has declared that their violence is free speech, which explains why they are so violent and why they advocate violence, and why Kamala Harris was paying bail for arrested violent leftists. The left also claims that anyone else’s speech is violence, so they are just returning violence with calming “speech” that only looks like violence but is in actuality “mostly peaceful protest.” The pattern continues.
Next time, we will hear all the same things that we always hear, and that is why the pattern continues.
Edward: Brilliantly said. I wish I had written it.

WHATS WRONG WITH DEMOCRAT PARTY POLITICIANS?
When is an essential foundational philosophical must have demand for being inclusive in politics excluded from being inclusive?
When you are a Democrat presidential candidate and you reject who you believe to be the best person for your vice-presidential slot and the country, BECAUSE THEY ARE GAY!?
Did I read that correctly?
“Ex-Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg has responded to comments from former Vice President Kamala Harris, who admitted in her upcoming memoir that he was her first choice as running mate for the 2024 election — but wasn’t selected since he’s gay.”
Pete Buttigieg Responds To Kamala Harris Confession He Wasn’t VP Pick Since He’s Gay
“Former Vice President Kamala Harris says that her first choice for running mate was her longtime friend Pete Buttigieg. However, Kamala Harris writes honestly in her soon-to-be-released book, 107 Days, that she was afraid the ticket would be “too big of a risk” for voters to accept.”
What is one of the many, many issues that disqualify those aspirational politicians within the Democrat party and the radical “progressive” movement from ever attaining local and national political leadership positions? The people of America understand that they are not genuine and really do not care about Americans.
The Democrats are just in the game to win at any cost to others, attain absolute political power and control through force if necessary, and the direction of the country is none of their concern as long as it is further Left and plunged into Socialism.
How many times have you heard the Democrats drone on and on about the bias of the “Nazi” like Right and the need to accept gay people? Trans people? Accept and empower every kind of permutation of human being including those who identify as “Furries”. Except when you as a presidential candidate reject a gay person who you actually believe to be qualified and the best choice…………but THEY ARE GAY!
You just cannot make up the absolute ridiculousness of what the Democrats in power within the party promote and philosophically demand of others and then totally reject their own declared mandates when it comes to them.
In time the truth comes out, and at that moment you realize what politics is about and you are disgusted and disillusioned. And that is a good thing.
And NEITHER Kamala or Pete will ever become president to boot because they are both not genuine and absolute tools of the Democrat party machine and not the people of America.
The Democrat party is rudderless, leaderless and will remain so for the foreseeable future.

Mike A. I am not pointing you out as a lefty. I am just using your comment as an example.
Kimmel did not point out he came from a conservative background. He directly stated that he was a right leaning conservative.
The lefts argument that the murderer was a conservative is wrong. Its an attempt to distance themselves from him. To push him away from them.
The fact is, he is gay and in a relationship with a transgender man..
Trying to claim he must have been a conservative because he came from a conservative household is wrong. Why not just claim homosexuals can’t exist because they ALL come from heterosexual people. and families.
The fact that its becoming a wide spread argument among the left is proof they have been told to spread the false narrative. Who gave them that idea who told them that?
True, he had a conservative family…which is frightening in that you can do all the right things and still have a child led astray. The culture war hasn’t been won yet.
Fox’s Tyrus is non-religious, and didn’t always agree with Kirk.
Such is GUTFELD ‘s respect for speech. Colbert got some flak for having GUTFELD on as a guest–so give him that much at least. Colbert is pro-space and did voices for Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim. Fallon and Kimmel are just…there on stage.
The ugliest thing Bill Maher did in recent years was mock Jimmy, who was in tears after the passing of Don Rickles, a friend. Kimmel knows that folks like him and Newhart are his betters. He also dated Sarah Silverman…a screamer. Poor Jimmy.
Seth needs to not be a punk.
I think the networks all used the leftist shows as forms of support for the liberal democrat party.
Support that was never counted as party or PAC donations.
They spent huge amounts of money on these shows even when they proved to never make a dime for the networks.
They at least used the shows as money losses for tax purposes.
If every show cost the network 50 million( just an example) a year. Over the last 20 years the big three could have given the left advertising and promotions equaling 3 billion dollars or more.
Without that support could the left have ever risen to the prominence and power it has today?
Those same networks also canceled right leaning shows even as the shows were showing profits.
I’m with Darren Gerdes on this issue. Gerdes describes himself as a Reagan Republican.

True dat!
And now that the political power tide has turned all of a sudden, the corporate overlords are concerned about balanced noncontroversial political commentary and presentation? (Corporate media overlords have previously fired both Bill Mahre and Rosann from their shows for controversial things that they have said).
The Liberal and Leftist corporate overlords tried to divide the country in order that the “progressive” anti-American agenda could take real hold, and they were and have been very successful over time.
The Left (Democrats and RINO’s) move the ball further and further in their political power favor and then they sit and wait for their next opportunity to move the ball.
Nothing new under the sun here.
Eventually they will prevail through the particular group mind conditioning of the young in our culture that they specialize in seamlessly I.E. the CCP Chinese Sun Tzu mindset that they are working to essentially deliver to them?
Or, they foster such a division in the country that there must be blood to settle the direction that the country will progress?
Either way over time they win?
Stay tuned.
Political warfare is warfare.
So, I keep hearing people say that the two sides shouldn’t be calling the other side evil, because that is rhetoric that leads to violence and political assassinations. The problem is that only one side is violent or assassinates. Clearly, when the right calls the left evil, rightists don’t run around rioting, looting, burning, or murdering. But when the left calls the right evil, that is exactly what we get. The Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) building in Chicago was recently attacked by people of the left, and the leftist city and state governments did little or nothing to defend it or the people within it.
Something is different about the two sides.
Which side cheers when crimes are committed, as happened with all the violence that I listed in my previous comment (September 19th)? Which side complains when laws are enforced, as happened when the District of Columbia was cleaned of most crime, last month? Which side prosecutes or accuses people who have committed no crime, as happened to President Trump and to General Micheal Flynn? Which side does not prosecute criminals, such as those who shoplift less than $900, or otherwise uses “prosecutorial discretion” to let criminals get away with their crimes, such as the multiple-felon Hillary Clinton? Which side uses cashless bail to let career criminals stay on the streets and committing more crimes?
One side is lawless, the other is lawful. When the left calls the right evil, then leftists do evil things to the right. When the right calls the left evil, then nothing happens to the left. So, really, it is only the left side that should not be calling the right side evil, because the right side is not as evil as the left side. Maybe even not evil at all.
Stochastic violence is fomented by influencing impressionable people. Making broad statements that advocate violence and statements that point out targets give those impressionable people actions to take against specified people. Is there any surprise that violence happens against them?
A problem cannot be solved until the problem is identified. That is why “root cause” is the goal of failure investigations in the aerospace industry. It is not enough to find the proximal cause (Kirk was shot by someone who thought he was a threat to the murderer’s transitioning boyfriend/Trump was almost assassinated — twice — and was fake-impeached — twice — and was fake-prosecuted — thrice (or more)/someone goes to DC to assassinate a Supreme Court Justice), but the root cause must be identified (leftists called right wing people “racist,” “transphobic,” and “literally Hitler”/someone calls for Supreme Court Justices to “reap the Whirlwind”) in order to fix it in order to avoid a host of similar proximal causes. Recent history has shown that it was likely that the root cause would result in the action. How evil was it to continue to disparage and slander Kirk? And Trump?
Stochastic violence has other collateral damages. For instance, universities now require right-wing speakers to pay for extra security for speaking engagements on campus, but left-wing speakers have no such requirement. The fear of stochastic violence has affected free speech Rights for the right side but not for the left.
Mike a,
You wrote: “To end on optimism, I am reassured by the outpouring of sympathy and support extended to Mr Kirk’s family. If you’re paying attention, that IS coming from both sides of the political spectrum.”
Well, that didn’t last long. Gavin Newsom says disparaging remarks on Kimmel’s first day back — but not on Kimmel’s show — and the next morning a detainee is killed during a stochastic attack on Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
