Readers!

The time has come for my annual short Thanksgiving/Christmas fund drive for Behind The Black. I must do this every year in order to make sure I have earned enough money to pay my bills.

For this two-week campaign, I am offering a special deal to encourage donations. Donations of $200 will get a free autographed copy of the new paperback edition of Genesis: The Story of Apollo 8, while donations of $250 will get a free autographed copy of the new hardback edition. If you desire a copy, make sure you provide me your address with your donation.

As I noted in July, the support of my readers through the years has given me the freedom and ability to analyze objectively the ongoing renaissance in space, as well as the cultural changes -- for good or ill -- that are happening across America. Fourteen years ago I wrote that SLS and Orion were a bad ideas, a waste of money, would be years behind schedule, and better replaced by commercial private enterprise. Only now does it appear that Washington might finally recognize this reality.

In 2020 when the world panicked over COVID I wrote that the panic was unnecessary, that the virus was apparently simply a variation of the flu, that masks were not simply pointless but if worn incorrectly were a health threat, that the lockdowns were a disaster and did nothing to stop the spread of COVID. Only in the past year have some of our so-called experts in the health field have begun to recognize these facts.

Your help allows me to do this kind of intelligent analysis. I take no advertising or sponsors, so my reporting isn't influenced by donations by established space or drug companies. Instead, I rely entirely on donations and subscriptions from my readers, which gives me the freedom to write what I think, unencumbered by outside influences.

Please consider supporting my work here at Behind the Black. You can support me either by giving a one-time contribution or a regular subscription. There are four ways of doing so:

1. Zelle: This is the only internet method that charges no fees. All you have to do is use the Zelle link at your internet bank and give my name and email address (zimmerman at nasw dot org). What you donate is what I get.

2. Patreon: Go to my website there and pick one of five monthly subscription amounts, or by making a one-time donation.

3. A Paypal Donation or subscription:

4. Donate by check, payable to Robert Zimmerman and mailed to

The long term deep-rooted bigotry at MIT, sadly typical of modern academia

MIT student body, broken down by race

In doing my essay yesterday about the deep roots of corruption and bigotry within American academia, focused specifically on Harvard, MIT, and the University of Pennsylanvia, I came across some revealing graphs proudly posted on the website of MIT’s own Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion office that I decided needed to be highlghted more prominently.

The first graph is to the right. It shows the student percentages of various races at MIT, from 2005 through 2023. It clearly proves that the administration of MIT is aggressively discriminating against whites in order to meet the demands of its “MIT Strategic Action Plan for Belonging, Achievement, & Composition” [pdf] (webpage here). Since 2005 there has been a 25% drop in white students at the school, with the main beneficiaries of this discrimination international students and Asians. Other minorities, such as Hispanics and blacks, also gained but to a much smaller extent.

The key word in that Strategic Action Plan’s title is the word “Composition.” Sounds so benign, doesn’t it? What is refers to however is the entire racial quota system the school has instituted to reduce its white population. As noted on the webpage describing this term:

The composition of our community, and of our leadership, should reflect a commitment to diversity. Establishing objectives, defining steps for achieving them, and improving processes for collecting more nuanced identity data will empower us to see ourselves more clearly and make progress.

In other words, the university must make a person’s “identity” or race the most important component in considering them for admission. Talent, skill, education, or experience are irrelevant. All that matters is skin color.

That webpage goes on to carefully delineate the methods used to implement this racial quota system, while always using carefully worded language that — while it conveys its clearly bigoted intent — does so in a way to give the university deniability if it is ever accused of discrimination.

Below are similar graphs showing racial percentages for both MIT’s staff and faculty.

MIT's staff and faculty broken down by race

As you can see, both show similar anti-white discrimination, with 18-19% declines in both categories. As with the student numbers, this decline does not appear to have benefited other minorities, except for those listed as “unknown” on the faculty graph. Note also the similar such drop on the student graph above. It appears that more teachers and students are refusing to state their racial identity, possibly in an effort by whites to protect themselves from this bigotry.

All of this is disgusting. It is even more disgusting coming from what is supposed to be one of the country’s top engineering and science universities, where learning, education, and objective thought should be the hallmark. Instead, it now appears that for almost two decades MIT has instead focused on becoming a variation of the Jim Crow South, focused not on developing thoughtful, clear-minded individuals but in establishing an apartheid system hostile to whites.

MIT: making Hitler proud!
MIT: making Hitler proud!

It is also once again important to note the extensive nature of this program, across the university’s entire management structure. Just take a look at the action plan’s “Composition” webpage, where it outlines what every single management leader in the university is required to do to implement this discriminatory policy. MIT is truly poisoned by this racist program, at all levels. No wonder its Jewish population is hiding in fear from anti-Semitic attacks. Under critical race theory, Jews are ranked as part of the white oppressor class, and thus deserve punishment for the sins of others, committed centuries ago. This widespread racist quota system guarantees MIT will have a student body, faculty, and staff inculcated with such irrational hate.

Why would any parent or student even consider attending this university? It appears getting a good education here is unlikely. At best you might learn engineering, but you’d come out with a warped, hate-filled view of the world. Not a good trade-off.

Furthermore, why would any business even considering hiring MIT’s graduates? The last thing a business needs is an employee filled with outrage and hate against other races, no matter how good they know how to calculate physics.

The most horrifying aspect of this essay is that MIT is typical of almost all universities across America, and has been so for more than a decade. We no longer have in America an academic system designed to teach civilization. Instead, it teaches hate and racial division, and does so proudly.

Did you catch this video of IBM’s DEI employment policies?

    https://twitter.com/JamesOKeefeIII/status/1734374423124176944?s=20&fbclid=IwAR0gALTxv_VjuPTcGsWvbzG4bfPNOZYc6z2ggHBXkPBIAJhAV2R1zCztX0s

Let’s see how IBM performs in the coming years. Glad I don’t own the stock.

Due to the Jewish diaspora effect, from events from 1492 to 1942, it was not unusual at MIT to find that students and employees from Latin America were in fact also Jewish. Be that as it may, over the years, all faculty, employees and alum that I know have talked about how things have changed
    Private conversations only of course.

As a consultant nearly 40 years ago, I predicted that IBM would slowly wither, and their standards become irrelevant. That cost me advancement in several employments situations, despite outstanding performance, by “superiors” who could not look beyond their own past.

    I was right.

Just call me “unknown” on that chart.
    I identify as Neanderthal.

As the flight FROM reason gathers speed and momentum, belief in entirely “rational” logical contradictions becomes increasingly embraced and accepted.

In this case that it is perfectly understandable that one may practice the “VIRTUE” of racial/ethnic discrimination in order to end the EVIL of racial/ethnic discrimination!

The next thing we’ll here is that one can be both male or female, both or neither!

As the hero in Ayn Rand’s epic novel remarks, “brother you asked for it!”

  • History has provided us with an interesting arc where the 1960’s Progressives who protested against “The MAN!” to champion “Equal Rights” for black people have since infiltrated America’s institutions (gov’t, media, social, and education), inculcated successive generations of youth, and motivated their “Useful idiots” to protest against “The (White) MAN!” to champion “Equity” using reverse-discrimination. That they do it so brazenly suggests they believe they’re at the end game. It’s a shame their history lesson didn’t include the fact that Ray Schism is color-blind, pervasive, and Human Nature. *sigh*

Thanks for the article: It’s hardly surprising but nice to see some actual numbers. Regarding numbers, it would also be illuminating to see the demographics of applications by year: We already know population percentage of Caucasians has dropped about 7.4 points (2010-2020 Census) and white males are opting more for trade skills, but perhaps they are being dissuaded by college admission practices while non-whites are being encouraged. I suspect we’ll see the same trend as Harvard’s known discriminatory admissions system. Regards.
