Orbital Sciences outlines the upgrades it plans for Cygnus and Antares.

Replacing Antares’ Russian engines is their biggest problem, but along the way they are installing a number of improvements to Cygnus that will up its cargo capacity.

Perhaps Orbital should contract with SpaceX to supply high performance Merlin engines for a redesigned Antares first stage. This would force SpaceX to expand their production capability, possibly becoming the largest engine manufacturer on the planet. Alas, probably not in either party’s business plan..

I agree with you Mivenoh. I’ve thought recently it would be smart for spacex to sell their engines!
But spacex has implemented their upgrades already… Before it was PUBLICLY known ISS will extend it use.
Shows how serious and dedicated they are to their product. And the confidence shows.
However, to Orbital, it’s never too late
