On the radio
On Tuesday, December 19, 2017 I spent an hour with Robert Pratt on his Pratt on Texas radio show. Most of the show was devoted not to space and science but to discussing my weekly updates on the fascist culture on too many of today’s American campuses.
Robert has just let me know that this hour-long interview is going to be replayed twice over the next two weeks, on Christmas Day, December 25, 2017, and on New Year’s Day, January 1, 2018, both times from 6 to 7 pm Central time. He also let me know that the best link to listen is here.
So, if you have nothing better to do during these holidays, here is something that might help to fill your time.
On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.
The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.
The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.
"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News

I will attempt to catch this, Mr. Pratt has an interesting Show!
I’m eyeing the “Mysterious Outpost” appearance as well! That should be interesting.
As does “The Cats Roundtable.”

Caught the show. I like this Pratt guy.
Some degree of comfort can be taken by what parents are doing at the University of Missouri Columbia.
Enrollment down 35%. Perhaps worsening as each new freshman class is smaller yet past 3 years running.
As a result there are 7 empty dorms that they try to rent out for home games.
LAYOFFS of faculty and staff including tenured positions. And yes the lawsuits have been filed.
Although I can’t find the article now state legislators are hearing from parents and pushing school administrators to get their act together as they hold the funding purse strings.
Panic in the off campus student housing rental market that over built when University joined SEC back a few years. There are entire complexes that are empty.
A beneficiary of all of this has been Missouri State in Springfield that has experienced large jumps in enrollment. Many parents feel that campus has a more sensible administration.
We have a long way to go however to turn this dark ages thing around.
