Genesis cover

On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.

The print edition can be purchased at Amazon. from any other book seller, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.

The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.

"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News

There is no diversity in American academia, none at all

Banned on campuses nationwide
Banned on campuses nationwide

The modern academic racist bureaucracy that is usually called “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion” (DEI) attempts over and over again to gaslight us into believing its goal is to welcome everyone. For example, on Yale’s DEI webpage is this statement in outlining its “Belonging” program:

Advancing Yale’s mission in vibrant community life, in which members encounter and appraise a broad array of ideas, are treated with dignity and respect, and feel welcome to make their voices heard;

Nothing about Yale’s belonging program however encourages free expression, and in fact it works agreesively to discourage it. On a related DEI webpage, it states the following about free expression:

There are times when the university may be asked to censor controversial speech or discipline a speaker for their speech. Yale’s commitment to free expression means that we do not curtail speech merely due to its causing offense. However, there are certain limits on speech and processes for addressing speech that crosses these limits. [emphasis mine]

The university says these limits will be imposed for what it defines as acts of “discrimination and harassment,” but defines this so broadly that college officials routinely endorse the silencing of anyone who offends any lefty in any manner. As a result, there are no more conservatives teaching at Yale. They have all been driven out. And we know this because nearly 100 percent of all political donations by Yale professors went to Democrats in 2023.

The News analyzed over 5,000 Federal Elections Committee filings from 2023 with Yale University listed as an employer, 3,041 of which were professors. Professors donated a total of roughly $127,000, of which 98.4 percent went to Democratic candidates and groups.

There is no diversity of thought at Yale, no matter what its “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion” webpages claim. And it is crucial to understand that this Yale policy is ubiquitous at universities nationwide, and has been for decades, resulting in the blacklisting and censorship and removal of conservatives and their ideas from college campuses, across the board.

Don’t believe me? Then consider this fact: In the entire United States, only one professor has so far donated more than $1,000 to the Trump re-election campaign, tax instructor Erich Eischen at Dakota State University.

According to Federal Election Commission data, he is the only person who lists his employer as a college or university in the United States who made a contribution of $1,000 or more to Donald Trump’s presidential campaign so far in the 2024 election cycle.

Such donors are a dime a dozen for President Joe Biden. There are 289, in fact, according to the FEC.

American universities, which are supposed to be the home of vigorous debate and a wide sampling of beliefs and opinions, are now nothing more than monolithic North Korean-style dens of censorship and tyrannical oppression. New ideas are not allowed. Dissent is forbidden. And should you dare defy these cultural rules, the knives will come out to destroy you.

My blacklist column has documented hundreds of examples. Here’s another one: Harvard professor Roland Frye did a careful study in 2016 showing that there is no evidence of racial bias in police shootings. Many at Yale told him not to publish, or to jiggle his results to hide this conclusion. He decided the truth was more important and went to print. Not long after he needed police protection because of the death threats against him and his family, was put under numerous investigations by Harvard, and was then suspended for two years because of charges of sexual harassment that suddenly appeared out of nowhere (one of which was later retracted).

One additional fact about Fryer’s story must be noted, even though it is irrelevant to his ability or qualifications: Fryer is black. Apparently, even racial diversity must be abandoned if it threatens this monolithic leftist culture.

To repeat: There is no diversity in old academia in America, none at all. And it has grown so used its echo chamber bubble that it now routinely resorts to violence to maintain that bubble. Any attempt to prick that bubble and you will be shouted down, as Kristen Waggoner was at Yale in 2022.

Time for new colleges and institutions. Time to wipe the slate clean, because these corrupt institutions show no willingness to change on their own.

Readers!

Please consider supporting my work here at Behind the Black. Your support allows me the freedom and ability to analyze objectively the ongoing renaissance in space, as well as the cultural changes -- for good or ill -- that are happening across America. Fourteen years ago I wrote that SLS and Orion were a bad ideas, a waste of money, would be years behind schedule, and better replaced by commercial private enterprise. Only now does it appear that Washington might finally recognize this reality.

In 2020 when the world panicked over COVID I wrote that the panic was unnecessary, that the virus was apparently simply a variation of the flu, that masks were not simply pointless but if worn incorrectly were a health threat, that the lockdowns were a disaster and did nothing to stop the spread of COVID. Only in the past year have some of our so-called experts in the health field have begun to recognize these facts.

Your help allows me to do this kind of intelligent analysis. I take no advertising or sponsors, so my reporting isn't influenced by donations by established space or drug companies. Instead, I rely entirely on donations and subscriptions from my readers, which gives me the freedom to write what I think, unencumbered by outside influences.

Always remember in LeftWorld to be prepared to replace the word “despite” with “because”. As in, the Left does not swear fealty to Hamas despite the fact that they are murderous terror-rapists, the Left supports them BECAUSE they are murderous terror-rapists. And if it’s to advance the general cause, the Left has nothing but glory and the frission of sexual joy to offer to any such person who has the “passion” to murder and terror-rape in their cause.

Here, the Left did not inordinately and viciously attack Roland Frye despite the fact that he is a black professor, they inordinately and viciously attacked him BECAUSE he is a black professor. And such a person can never be allowed to stray from the plantation, because a black mind acting freely, forthrightly, and intellectually in such a manner is far more dangerous to the Left than one who stays put safely under master’s thumb, grumbling quietly to himself.

Replace “despite” with ‘because”. Works almost every time.

    Suggested correction:

Replace the second word, “modern”, with the more appropriate, “throwback”.

All this so-called “progressive” agenda nonsense in not actually progressive. It pushes for a return to the sort of societies most prevalent in the past, with authoritarian rule by a few over the powerless many.

    Thank you.

My dad and debated regularly. He raised me well. One thing we did agree upon was the start of the decline of GW’s great nation. He argued Teddy Roosevelt positively, I argued Woodrow Wilson negatively.

Wilson sowed the seeds for pointy headed, affluent, costal elites to impose upon the country their wretched views regarding how our lives should be lived.

The first thing that needs to happen is that states need to cut off funding to “public” universities. Then, the federal government needs to cut off all “research” funding. Also, the federal government needs to get out of the student loan business, and bankruptcy laws need to be adjusted to allow student loans to be bankrupted – the current system in unconscionable. The removal of this funding will force universities to focus on their true value-add, rather than political indoctrination. Banks won’t loan money for worthless degrees for loans that can be bankrupted. Tuition may go up for a while and enrollment in college may fall, but that’s OK because most jobs don’t really require a college education, and most majors are stupid anyway. Also, a hard look should be taken by states at whether accrediting entities are forcing colleges to adhere to leftist dogma to be accredited. States should be quick to remove permission to operate to accreditation agencies that are promoting leftist dogma. The decline in government funding and involvement in college education will save state and federal governments a bundle, but also allow new competitors to arise, such as Dr. Peterson’s, and result in students that are truly educated, rather than just indoctrinated. And my barista doesn’t need a degree in intersectional communications.

    Biglar,
Virtually none of that is going to happen.

The solution is for U.S. companies to stop hiring from universities and colleges that have stopped training people to work in the real world. This may also apply to high school educations, too.

The whole purpose of modern education is to prepare the students to work in the real world. In ancient agricultural communities, this did not require the amount of education that it does today — even in agricultural communities. Everything has become much more complex, even farming. Treating our students as though they do not need such advanced educations and training them to not just do stupid things but to actually be stupid is not going to get anyone anywhere.

America’s industries need productivity and should not be expected to pay for stupid.

Once the students realize that their expensive educations are not getting them the jobs they need, they will stop paying to become stupid.

  • Edward is right. Biglar is still living in the past when our federal and state governments showed some interest in what the citizenry wanted. No more. Most see these failed universities as a feature, not a bug.

We have to treat university degrees with contempt. Companies have to go back to apprentice programs, training people themselves. Such training should include a wider education in literature and culture, but certainly not in things like critical race theory and race hatred, the goals of most departments in the liberal arts these days.

  • As we are discussing academic institutions:

Progressive Diversity is to the political spectrum, as visible light is to the electromagnetic spectrum.

  • Ronaldus Magnus

Democrats love to divide, divide, divide. They just love finding more and more ways to divide us up, and then pit one group against another. They are, after all, the party of segregation and the KKK.

Stanford University, while touting and celebrating ‘diversity’ has developed segregated housing: Ujamaa House is for African-American; Okada House is for Asians; Casa Zapata is for Chicanx and Latinx (99% of Spanish speakers do not like the new Latinx phraseology, and they do not speak Latin either).

The Stanford University website explains: “”Our ethnic theme communities have a rich and long history of engaging students at the highest levels of intellectual discovery and advancing diversity””

‘Advancing diversity’ by segregation. Sounds right out of 1984.

  • Ronaldus Magnus: You obviously have researched Stanford’s webpage. Good for you. However, you should provide links, to encourage others to read it as well. It is much more persuasive if you allow everyone to read their dishonest propaganda, right from the horse’s mouth.
