China successfully launched rockets twice today
China successfully launched two rockets this morning, one a Long March-4C carrying an Earth observation satellite and the second a Long March-8, carrying 22 smallsats.
The Long March-8 is one of China’s next generation rockets, meant to launch from its coastal spaceport and use less toxic fuels. Also, according to the state-run press article, its manufacture process is aimed at allowing for a launch rate of once per week.
The leaders in the 2022 launch race:
8 SpaceX
4 China
2 Russia
The U.S. leads China 11 to 4 in the national rankings.
On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.
The print edition can be purchased at Amazon. from any other book seller, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit.
The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.
The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.
"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News

Were these both launched from the same site?
Who do they think they are? SpaceX?
Sayomara,
In the articles they talk about the two different sites. China has four launch sites. The Long March-4C launch was from Jiquan site near Mongolia. The Long March-8 was launched from Wenchang, not to be confused with the British band Wang Chung, which is on Hainan Province, so the launches go over the ocean and Taiwan.
The other two launch sites are Taiyuan, this base is like our Vandenburg AFB, and infamous Xichang, that is one where the first stage boosters drop on villages.
And one wonders what happens when they “accidentally” drop on a booster on Taiwan…
“Everybody March-8 tonight. . . “
