Readers! A November fund-raising drive!

It is unfortunately time for another November fund-raising campaign to support my work here at Behind the Black. I really dislike doing these, but 2025 is so far turning out to be a very poor year for donations and subscriptions, the worst since 2020. I very much need your support for this webpage to survive.

And I think I provide real value. Fifteen years ago I said SLS was garbage and should be cancelled. Almost a decade ago I said Orion was a lie and a bad idea. As early as 1998, long before almost anyone else, I predicted in my first book, Genesis: The Story of Apollo 8, that private enterprise and freedom would conquer the solar system, not government. Very early in the COVID panic and continuing throughout I noted that every policy put forth by the government (masks, social distancing, lockdowns, jab mandates) was wrong, misguided, and did more harm than good. In planetary science, while everyone else in the media still thinks Mars has no water, I have been reporting the real results from the orbiters now for more than five years, that Mars is in fact a planet largely covered with ice.

I could continue with numerous other examples. If you want to know what others will discover a decade hence, read what I write here at Behind the Black. And if you read my most recent book, Conscious Choice, you will find out what is going to happen in space in the next century.

This last claim might sound like hubris on my part, but I base it on my overall track record.

So please consider donating or subscribing to Behind the Black, either by giving a one-time contribution or a regular subscription. I could really use the support at this time. There are five ways of doing so:

1. Zelle: This is the only internet method that charges no fees. All you have to do is use the Zelle link at your internet bank and give my name and email address (zimmerman at nasw dot org). What you donate is what I get.

2. Patreon: Go to my website there and pick one of five monthly subscription amounts, or by making a one-time donation. Takes about a 10% cut.

3. A Paypal Donation or subscription, which takes about a 15% cut:

4. Donate by check. I get whatever you donate. Make the check payable to Robert Zimmerman and mail it to

“It was reported today by MSNBC that President Obama was unaware that he had ever said to anyone the words ‘If you like your healthcare plan, you can keep it.'”

“It was reported today by MSNBC that President Obama was unaware that he had ever said to anyone the words ‘If you like your healthcare plan, you can keep it.'”

As is commonly known, the details of policies put in place by various departments of the Administration are considered beneath the purview of the office of the presidency. The President is above all that and, as Chris Matthews points out, he can hardly be expected to remember such minutiae such as who gave the order to stand down at Benghazi, which is thousands of miles away, or who ordered the IRS to harass certain Tea Party members, let alone members of other terrorist groups, or even what was happening in Fast & Furious down in Mexico. That’s somebody else’s country, said Matthews, and the President just wasn’t personally aware. Besides, he was on the golf course at the time . . . every time.

There’s more, all tragically hilarious.

Genesis cover

On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.

The print edition can be purchased at Amazon or from any other book seller. If you want an autographed copy the price is $60 for the hardback and $45 for the paperback, plus $8 shipping for each. Go here for purchasing details. The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.

The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.

"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News

  • What’s amazing is that at least three quarters of the drones that elected this steaming pile will also forget he said “if you like your healthcare plan, you can keep it”. the left has a very short memory!

What I can’t understand is how can anyone believe what this man says- no matter what he says! Many fell for what Goebbels pronounced for the Nazis, and many are falling in our country for what this Community Organizer-in-Charge is spewing forth from his mouth!

If the Republicans are smart, they will stay out of the way and let the Dems stew in a pot of their own making.

What is it that the American people do not understand about this? It is what it is. Now, what are we going to do about it?

Tweet of the Day: “FACT: Nothing in Obamacare forces people out of their health plans. No change is required unless insurance companies change existing plans.”
    –Valerie Jarrett

Can we all now agree this administration speaks nothing but lies?

This is about one thing by the entity “government” (both party’s) CONTROL of the individual. Period.

    The ends justify the means.

You, me and all the others do not matter. This is no shade of gray in governance but a stark shift to either the absence of color or the inclusion of all color, depending on your choice of perspective. And in understanding that you come to understand that the Constitution is being used as the tool of the destruction of the rights and freedoms of the individual. If Obamacare is allowed to progress, and I believe that that is the plan, than the people are literally owned by the government.

This is what the philosophical Marxist must do when given the leadership roll. And I am not sure at all that a significant number of the opposing party really opposes it.

How can the vast majority of America forget things like this?

    Cognitive dissonance

When facts disprove theory they accept the one they want and throw out the one that does not support their belief.

Millions will start to believe that they “just heard him wrong” 150 times. Over 4 years,

Obama doesn’t just lie to Americans, he lies to foreigners too which is why the orld knows he can’t be counted on. His words mean nothing.

It is a nice thought, but in the meantime there are many people suffering due to that pot of stew.

Someone needs to rescue them, because they do not have the political power to rescue themselves.

We certainly do not want to accidentally let this turd stew become “the new normal,” as the turd of an economy has accidentally become.

Obama and his administration has the sadiM touch: it is backwards of the Midas touch, everything he touches turns to the opposite of gold.

Rock the vote? Isn’t it time we let 12 y.o. vote? Why stop there? Should [single] mothers get two votes if they’ve got one in the bun?
