I became a fan in the 60’s, I’ve seen him live serveral times since. RIP. That discovery kindled and life long love for Brasil.
Likewise. I’ve always been partial to most forms of Latin American music with the notable exception of Mexican music – most of which reminds me far too much of the loathsome polka I couldn’t escape during my upper-Midwest youth.
Music is far from the only thing appealing about Brazilian culture, though. Carnival in Rio puts anything we do here in the States very much in the shade. The parade floats, for example, make US efforts – including those in the annual Pasadena Rose Parade – look like high school homecoming efforts by comparison. And not just because Brazilian Carnival floats are also liberally festooned with spectacular topless women – though that certainly doesn’t hurt the comparison.
These two ladies and the sound that they make together are / is perfect to my ear.
They make the entire thing work.
The look, how they move, the sound is just perfect, unique.
