White nationalist protest in Virginia
Racism goes all around: A demonstration of white nationalists gathered today at the University of Virginia, holding torches and shouting pro-white chants.
Sharing a photo of the torch-bearing march on Friday, Unite the Right organizer Jason Kessler wrote on Twitter, “Incredible moment for white people who’ve had it up to here & aren’t going to take it anymore. Tomorrow we #Unitethe Right #Charlottesville.”
Prominent white nationalist Richard Spencer, who led a similar march in Charlottesville in May, was also at the rally on Friday night.
You hate people merely because they are white, and what you will get is alliances forming to defend whites, focused entirely on their race. The result is that everyone becomes bigoted and racist.
It is important to remind everyone that no one has been a slave in the United states in more than 150 years, and discrimination solely because of race ended pretty much a half century ago. The nation, which is dominated by whites, elected a black president twice in the past decade. For minorities to hate whites today is absurd, and can only be founded on the basis of race hatred. For white leftists to do it is even more absurd, and is the epitome of self-hatred.
As always, the battle here is between those who treat each person as an individual, and those who can only see them as members of a group. The former believes in individual freedom and personal responsibility. The latter believes in bigotry and racism. I proudly rank myself in the former group. To which group do you belong?
Readers!
Every February I run a fund-raising drive during my birthday month. This year I celebrate my 72nd birthday, and hope and plan to continue writing and posting on Behind the Black for as long as I am able.
I hope my readers will support this effort. As I did in my November fund-raising drive, I am offering autographed copies of my books for large donations. Donate $250 and you can have a choice of the hardback of either Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8 or Conscious Choice: The origins of slavery in America and why it matters today and for our future in outer space. Donate $200 and you can get an autographed paperback copy of either. IMPORTANT! If you donate enough to get a book, please email me separately to tell me which book you want and the address to mail it to.
Please consider supporting my work here at Behind the Black. My analysis of space, politics, and culture, taken from the perspective of an historian, is almost always on the money and ahead of the game. For example, in 2020 I correctly predicted that the COVID panic was unnecessary, that the virus was apparently simply a variation of the flu, that masks were not simply pointless but if worn incorrectly were a health threat, that the lockdowns were a disaster and did nothing to stop the spread of COVID. Every one of those 2020 conclusions has turned out right.
Your help allows me to do this kind of intelligent analysis. I take no advertising or sponsors, so my reporting isn't influenced by donations by established space or drug companies. Instead, I rely entirely on donations and subscriptions from my readers, which gives me the freedom to write what I think, unencumbered by outside influences.
You can support me either by giving a one-time contribution or a regular subscription. There are four ways of doing so:
1. Zelle: This is the only internet method that charges no fees. All you have to do is use the Zelle link at your internet bank and give my name and email address (zimmerman at nasw dot org). What you donate is what I get.
2. Patreon: Go to my website there and pick one of five monthly subscription amounts, or by making a one-time donation.
3. A Paypal Donation or subscription:

“We holds these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal…” That’s where I stand!
Man, this is a depressing story to wake up too. The whole country is going crazy!
Great comment BSJ, we need to get back to our roots, back to the Declaration of Independence, and the Constitution, the division fostered by the previous president will take decades to heal.
Hey, AntiFa. Hey BLM. You want racist white nationalist rallies? This is how you get racist white nationalist rallies. :(
Now that we seem to be in the business of erasing people from history I look forward to the day when we can disappear Obama.
I absolutely look forward to the day when Obama is disappeared.
Violence has erupted in Va.
Everyone has pride in a lot of things.
Its the order of that list of prideful things that sets bigots and racists apart.
I too have pride in my race, as I expect everyone else does also. Mine just comes in a little lower on that list than my pride in my shoe choice.
“There is a class of colored people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs.”
Booker T. Washington
Mr. Washington can now add “silly little white communists” to his lament.
You want racist white nationalist rallies?
That’s exactly what those pulling the strings want. Plus, I saw a video that says the murdering driver was a dem operative that drove into the antifa group.
An eye witness said the police pulled out (though that might have just been her perspective) before the car attack. Other report had the police driving the white nationalists into the antifa in a confined area.
The carnal person responds to hate with hate; it takes a better person to respond with reason.
“And then shall many be offended, and shall betray (hand over) one another, and shall hate one another.”
ken–
good stuff.
The initial rally had been cancelled and dispersed a solid hour (or more) before the car accident.
Let us not forget who the Va. Governor is, Terry McAuliffe. He used to be (one of) HRC’s bag-men. The guy is a professional liar and life-long commie sympathizer. (not to mention a condescending piece of trash.)
I don’t know who the Mayor of this town is, but it’s disturbing to hear he *may* have told the police to stand-down and/or divert rally-goers into the crazed protesters.
As someone who was (a passenger) in a car, in downtown Portland (OR) last Fall; we turned a corner and were practically engulfed by radical rioters. Fortunately a native was driving– if I had been driving I MIGHT have accelerated wildly just to get out of the area, by any means necessary.
Hope these alleged victims, have their Obamacare Cards with them, but I’m doubting it covers all those out-of-network services. But I’m sure to City of Charlottesville will gladly pick up the tab.
” before the car accident.”
This is an inaccurate term, the term from where I sit is offensive attack by a white supremasist. Who will be spending the next 30 years of his life in prison. And that is how it should be.
Two sets of zealots meet to “Protest”, on the one side Black Lives Matter who are Leftist operatives that promote violence, political correctness and Social Justice, No thank you. The American NAZI’s are …………well…….. NAZI’s, enough said. Again. no thank you.
The president needs to reject any organizations that may believe (possibly for good reasons) that the president supports them with his full endorsement. No thank you.
I dare say no one at that rally voted for a conservative, or Trump for that matter, the rally was billed as reunite the right, it is not my view that either group was a right of center group. Much of this was aimed at denigrating President Trump, I suspect that a major bad actor paid both sides to perform there.
Cotour–
Nobody serves 30 years for vehicular manslaughter.
That aside, I’m going to wait for the Police report. Until I know otherwise, it’s an accident.
Joe–
good stuff.
The title of this rally is truly Orwellian, nothing “right” about the “alt-right” or American Nazi’s.
The guy drove at 40 MPH on a clear street into a group of people who opposed his point of view. Even if he was previously attacked his actions were offensive and not defensive.
Some people need to be told what is what, others can plainly see, although it is disturbing, what evil potential lurks in the hearts of men. Many times we see what we want to see.
We will wait for the police report, and it will I am fairly certain it will be ruled a deliberate offensive act by a NAZI White supremasist. No mitigating circumstances at all, just plain and simple hatred.
This is not acceptable on any level.
“40mph”
How and by whom, was that determined?
For recent historical reasons alone, I’m doubting the voracity of your statements as fact.
When did this use of cars to massacre people begin? I would guess only about 5 years ago, I suppose as a response to effective anti-bomb measures since 911. Acid is easy to produce from common goods and has been used numerous times in the UK this year. Maybe that’s a new popular trend in terrorism?
Cotour: How do you know “The guy drove at 40 MPH”?
LocalFluff-
“effective anti bomb measures” (?) potentially leading to terrorism by automobile?
We have 300 million guns in this Country, I’m doubting anyone predisposed to violence is forced to resort to kinetic automobile attacks.
The film clearly shows, beyond a shadow of exactitude, a medium sized dark object near the falcon rocket before it exploded while fueling, causing molten steel to pour out of the corner of the WTC,…… oh wait, that’s the other thread…
As an overall general rule you might want to pay a bit more attention to the larger points and observations that I bring to the table. I do not bring them out of ignorance.
As a great man once said: Just saying :)
40 MPH? 32 MPH? 38 MPH? 29 MPH? Actually watching this particular video https://youtu.be/v-Plzx73K68
It appears to show this vial individual going at speed (30+ MPH?) down the street and then he appears to accelerate as he nears the people in the crowd.
This is a vial act by a vial individual that has been consumed by hate, the hate of the NAZI movement in America. A zealot who justifies an inhuman act.
Who would think any human being would be able to justify being so depraved and immoral? What is the limit that a human would go if something can be justified in their mind related to their cause? The human potential is truly unlimited. How do we know that? We observe and see with our own eyes, and then we understand. Sometimes.
Sometimes when things are outside of our reality and ability to take in and believe then they can not be believed and they can not be properly understood. If I told you two days ago that an individual would with intent drive a powerful 4000 pound car at a high rate of speed into a group of defenseless people walking in the street, would you have believed me? Probably not, but here it is.
Just to be clear, I’m not defending Nazi’s or vehicular induced death, by anyone for any reason.
“The guy in the back” is always responsible, at least in Michigan auto law. But for now I’m not willing to overlay a bunch of speculation on the car driver.
I do however, want the laws concerning “assembly” enforced equally for everyone. I definitely don’t trust the Va. Governor to conduct himself impartially, and I have no clue who the Mayor of Charlottesville is. Lot of Police, just standing around.
And again, as someone who was in a car joy-cruising, in PDX, 11pm-ish, Election night, and stumbled upon a literal mob causing mayhem in the streets, in a relatively confined urban center, I could foresee a whole lot of crazy scenario’s going down, had I been at the wheel.
It went from, “wow, there’s no one here this time of night,” to “o my god,” in like 10 seconds. My friend turned down a narrow one-way street, crossed some traffic and fled over a bridge into the suburbs.
We can call this car-driver guy anything we want, but what he is, is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law of actual crimes as charged.
Wayne, you describe a potential Defensive situation during your trip, who knows what a driver might be justified in doing if put upon by a mob that intended to harm you and the people who were with you?
This act in Charlottsville is clearly an Offensive act that clearly appears to be done with malice and an intent to do harm. Who knows what set him off? Who cares? I do not, the deed is done, unfortunately and sadly for everyone involved and the country as a whole. Its not good.
IMO its generally a bad idea to participate in such demonstrations, but that is me.
Robert wrote: “discrimination solely because of race ended pretty much a half century ago.”
Except for that Affirmative Action thing, which promotes discrimination against white males.
The irony is that white supremacists, such as this group and the KKK, are left leaning groups, as noted by the NAZI slogan that they chanted. The NAZIs were also leftists; note that the acronym stands for National Socialist German Workers Party. Those who consider these groups to be right wing are those who are so far to the left that they cannot see that the groups are left of center and most or all also have no clue as to what right wing philosophies are.
The NAZIs were socialists, the KKK were Democrats.
ANTIFA (ANTI-First-Amendment) leans so far left that they cannot see which groups are left of center.
From the article: “Members of both sides were reportedly hit with pepper spray, and several people were treated at the scene for minor injuries.”
Both sides? Do they mean the far left and the even farther left?
LocalFluff asked: “When did this use of cars to massacre people begin?”
Shortly after 9/11, there was a fellow, whose religion shall remain Muslim — er — unnamed, in San Francisco who ran over people throughout the city before being caught. He hit people mostly in crosswalks, which allowed him to continue on and find more victims. One or two died, and one or two others were permanently maimed.

Also shortly after 9/11, a couple of guys, whose religion shall also remain Muslim — er — unnamed, around Washington DC shot people as they were refueling their cars at gas stations. They killed and injured quite a few before being caught.
