Readers!

The time has come for my annual short Thanksgiving/Christmas fund drive for Behind The Black. I must do this every year in order to make sure I have earned enough money to pay my bills.

For this two-week campaign, I am offering a special deal to encourage donations. Donations of $200 will get a free autographed copy of the new paperback edition of Genesis: The Story of Apollo 8, while donations of $250 will get a free autographed copy of the new hardback edition. If you desire a copy, make sure you provide me your address with your donation.

As I noted in July, the support of my readers through the years has given me the freedom and ability to analyze objectively the ongoing renaissance in space, as well as the cultural changes -- for good or ill -- that are happening across America. Fourteen years ago I wrote that SLS and Orion were a bad ideas, a waste of money, would be years behind schedule, and better replaced by commercial private enterprise. Only now does it appear that Washington might finally recognize this reality.

In 2020 when the world panicked over COVID I wrote that the panic was unnecessary, that the virus was apparently simply a variation of the flu, that masks were not simply pointless but if worn incorrectly were a health threat, that the lockdowns were a disaster and did nothing to stop the spread of COVID. Only in the past year have some of our so-called experts in the health field have begun to recognize these facts.

Your help allows me to do this kind of intelligent analysis. I take no advertising or sponsors, so my reporting isn't influenced by donations by established space or drug companies. Instead, I rely entirely on donations and subscriptions from my readers, which gives me the freedom to write what I think, unencumbered by outside influences.

Please consider supporting my work here at Behind the Black. You can support me either by giving a one-time contribution or a regular subscription. There are four ways of doing so:

1. Zelle: This is the only internet method that charges no fees. All you have to do is use the Zelle link at your internet bank and give my name and email address (zimmerman at nasw dot org). What you donate is what I get.

2. Patreon: Go to my website there and pick one of five monthly subscription amounts, or by making a one-time donation.

3. A Paypal Donation or subscription:

4. Donate by check, payable to Robert Zimmerman and mailed to

Google fires conservative for complaining about company’s leftwing bias

Reason 1,323,563 why I don’t use Google: Google has apparently fired a conservative employee, Mike Wacker, for complaining publicly about company’s leftwing bias, including what that employee called “outrage mobs and witch hunts.”

[Wacker] goes on to explain how leftists at Google weaponize HR complaints in order to shut down opposing viewpoints, chronicling a number of right-leaning statements or comments that were formally reported, prompting action. This included one employee’s defense of author Jordan Peterson’s opposition to government enforcement of pronoun-related language, and another’s criticism of the Women’s March over its anti-Semitism problem and lack of inclusivity toward pro-life women.

Meanwhile, Wacker writes, left-wing employees routinely engage in hateful, incendiary and bullying language with impunity (click through for several examples). Google’s Human Resources department has “completely abandoned any pretense of enforcing any sort of objective and impartial standard,” he warns. Wacker says that as a high-profile Republican at the company, he was a frequent target of HR harassment via frivolous complaints, resulting in formal admonitions, and even an offer of a severance package as an incentive to leave Google.

And now he has been fired.

This follows Youtube’s action, a subsidiary of Google, to block conservative Steven Crowder from making any money on his youtube videos.

As I’ve said before, they’re coming for you next, and that time is not far away.

I should note again that it looks like they are already coming for me, based on the strange ebb and flow of hits my website gets from Facebook. Every time my Facebook traffic starts to grow significantly, indicating increasing interest in my site among Facebook users, the hits suddenly drop to zero, as if someone had noticed and decided to block that interest. This has happened several times, and never in conjunction with any specific post. And the only reason I can come up with is that someone at Facebook did not like the conservative-leaning posts I sometimes put up here, and decided to prevent others from reading them.

Genesis cover

On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.

The print edition can be purchased at Amazon. from any other book seller, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.

The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.

"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News

In America today up is down, black is white and good is bad.

We Americans are now irrelevant and we serve all who want to come and take what we once had. Let the 2020 presidential and associate elections proceed so we Americans can see whether We The People can force Congress to do what must be done to stop this insanity!

If you choose to fly you will be patted down or worse, but not anyone who comes here illegally and who we know nothing about, they fly for free and unmolested.

This is not just a problem in the good old USA, but it is worldwide. And people are voting back!

Caveat emptor– there’s some zany stuff on there. One has to take the bad with the good.

I read your page because of the John Batchelor Show, not Facebook or Google. Keep up the good work, and I’ll keep reading.
    Thank you.

Is there a Behind the Black fan page or does the traffic come from shares?

OT: I set up a small monthly donation through Brave rewards even though BTB is not currently participating. I’m not sure how it works for content producers but I get a couple bucks a month for viewing ads and I distribute it among several different sites.

  • wodun: I am unaware of a Behind the Black fan page. Nor do I participate in Brave rewards, and in fact do not know what it is. However, from your description it probably will not work here, as I do not put advertisements on BtB.

My web income comes solely from donations or subscriptions or book sales. My readership, which I think is relatively small, has been amazingly generous, for which I am endlessly grateful. To increase that income my readership must grow, and having Facebook and the other big internet companies hostile to what I write is definitely a hindrance.

As for traffic, my server company provides a standard logging system that shows me the hits and unique visitors per day, as well as which websites bring the most traffic to the site. It is this system that has revealed the strange behavior of the Facebook traffic.

The employee fired at google made PUBLIC remarks criticizing his employer. This is not in any way similar to the James Damore “Google Memo” incident, which was communication internal to Google.

This employee was not authorized to speak for Google, and publicly criticizing who you work for will get you fired.

I work for a major manufacturer and if one my employees goes online spouting about how terrible the company is then they will likely be fired.

Google has a significant ideological problem, but this firing is standard business.

    Robert,

Since for the most part your site is a conservative sight have you ever considered ‘out linking’ to other similar sites?

Look at the Brietbart website. The bottom is populated with links to other similar sites.

Doing this gets around not being the top searched for site on Google and gets around the youtube blackouts. to an extent.

You could have two link groups, one space and one political. Just send off an email politely requesting any site you link to links back.
It has a chance to bring in more hits.

  • pzatchok: It has been my experience that sites like Breitbart don’t put links up nonchalantly, just as an exchange. I could be wrong. I will research.

    Jimbo–
Holy cow– your company fires people for speaking their mind? How many Unemployment-Insurance Cases, does your company lose?
[Only fire people for mundane reasons like being late or absenteeism, (or using their phone on work time, but only if you have a Policy in place) never for “political” reasons, (or drug abuse, cuz’ you have to pay for rehab first.)

I recently learned that the Governor of California is attempting to make the first 2 years of community college absolutely free for all inclusive of illegal immigrants. Of course, by free, he means we (taxpayers) cough up the cash. I already pay 32% federal and 12% state. That, along with all the sales, gas and the other taxes and fees is putting around 50% of my normal working man’s paycheck back in government hands. Is there a way we the people can stop this garbage? Can we sue the state? Any ideas… Anybody? I only ask this on this thread in the hope that a few like minded people see it..

On the actual subject: I read some Marxist theory lately and believe it or not, it explains Google and their moves exactly. I will not burden you guys with the actual quotes (very long winded) but it is all a very pointed attack on ANY self sustaining value or value system. In order for Google to dictate our thoughts and therefore our actions, they (and by “they” I mean the leftist movement) must first remove any personal views or morality. As long as we keep asking ourselves what we should be doing, Google and those like them can not substitute their biased value system.
