Caving in remote Nevada
I am leaving today for a four day caving expedition in the remote mountains of Nevada. Thus, there will be little added to the webpage until I return late Monday. I will also not be around to moderate comments. For those new people who post comments please forgive me. Be patient. I will get to it when I get home.
I hope my readers have a great Labor Day weekend. Get out, see friends, go sightseeing, have a great time to celebrate the end of summer. And above all, don’t do what the CDC is demanding, to stay home if you are not vaccinated and even if you are, to wear a mask, maybe two or three, all the time, even when outdoors by yourself. Ignore such idiocy.
Use your common sense instead. Be brave. Be free. And above all, pursue your happiness fully, with joy.
On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.
The print edition can be purchased at Amazon. from any other book seller, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit.
The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.
The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.
"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News

“For more than a century, a story has persisted about the skeletons of giants being found in Lovelock Cave in northern Nevada…..”
Watch out for Cave Bears.
Sounds like fun, I’m sure you’ll post pictures so we will all feel like we were there.
The great basin is a desolate place, outside the salt flats, it is full of life.
Took a trip to the Dugway Geo beds just to find rocks. Free to the public but it’s 150 miles from Salt Lake, half of which is on a dirt road. Surprisingly flat, in the way of an ancient lake bed would be, with wild horses, and pronghorn antelope, and a few few mule deer.
Found a couple of buckets of golf ball sized geodes, they are largely unimpressive. (A few that are very nice) Hard to believe only a few miles north of that location is a level five biological weapons lab? Made famous by Stephen kings “The Stand”.
Meanwhile, SpaceX got approval today from the FAA for their September 15 rocket launch.
