In his first extended TV interview since shutdown Tuesday, a defiant Boehner placed the blame for the fiscal impasse firmly on Obama, who has refused to sit down with House Republicans until they re-open the government at current spending levels. “The president just can’t sit there and say, ‘I’m not going to negotiate,'” Boehner said. Boehner said that there aren’t enough votes in the Republican-led House to simply re-open the government with no other strings attached. “There are not votes in the House to pass a clean (continuing resolution),” he said.

Finally, we are witnessing Republicans growing backbones! Why did it take so long?
I don’t think they have. I believe that they have come to the realization (by some kind of polling) that they have more to lose by crossing the aisle than by berating the Tea Party. Look who has gotten all the spotlight lately – Cruz and Paul not Ryan and Cantor. But hey – I’ll take it. The mid-terms are coming and the Senate is getting a little shaky.
After five years of Obama lecturing on compromise, why would we expect him to live by his own words? The man is a sham on this just like every other issue where his words contradict his actions.
