Trump threatens shutdown in September after caving in May
Paper tiger: After agreeing to a budget deal that gives everything to liberals but nothing to conservatives, Trump today threatened to force a government shutdown in September when this deal expires.
President Donald Trump on Tuesday appeared to call for a government shutdown later this year in response to a bipartisan spending deal that looks set to pass Congress this week.
In tweets, the president contended that the agreement — which funds the government through Sept. 30 — shows that Republicans must get more senators elected or change the Senate’s rules so they can push spending through with only a majority vote, rather than 60. He then wrote that the country “needs a good ‘shutdown’ in September” to fix a “mess.”
The last sentence of the article tells it all, however: “It is unclear if Trump truly wants a shutdown, as he has often taken extreme positions on issues before backing off. “

Your support allows me the freedom and ability to analyze objectively the ongoing renaissance in space, as well as the cultural changes -- for good or ill -- that are happening across America. Fourteen years ago I wrote that SLS and Orion were a bad ideas, a waste of money, would be years behind schedule, and better replaced by commercial private enterprise. Only now does it appear that Washington might finally recognize this reality.
In 2020 when the world panicked over COVID I wrote that the panic was unnecessary, that the virus was apparently simply a variation of the flu, that masks were not simply pointless but if worn incorrectly were a health threat, that the lockdowns were a disaster and did nothing to stop the spread of COVID. Only in the past year have some of our so-called experts in the health field have begun to recognize these facts.
Your help allows me to do this kind of intelligent analysis. I take no advertising or sponsors, so my reporting isn't influenced by donations by established space or drug companies. If a shutdown is good in September, why isn’t it good now?
Just listened to Mike Pence on Limbaugh reciting the talking points to convince conservatives of what a great deal this is. IMO Don’t piss on my leg and then try to tell me its raining!
When it comes right down to it, it looks like (title withheld) Trump got rolled. Not by the democrats but by the RINOs. But don’t be surprised when the democrats take a victory as soon as he signs it.
Does anyone know which congress rats were openly laughing at Trump when he said he was going to build the wall?
If it looks to conservatives that Trump got rolled for this deal He, and the republican party will be DONE!
Johnson said that if he lost Cronkite, he lost the nation. The same could be said today, If President Trump loses Limbaugh, he will lose his base. Thats what happened to “W”. When he started acting like a democrat, Limbaugh stopped praising him. He didn’t have to criticize. But whether it was consciously or not, people noticed.
But Speaker Ryan Mitch McConnel, and Reince Preibus better watch out. Supposedly, councillors who provide false council have there own -special- circle in hell.
I hope we will be dealing with individual budget bills in September, not a Continuing Resolution.
I’m not holding my breath, but it would be nice if Congress will do their job. Oh wait, the are going to be taking another recess.
Michael & PeterF– good stuff.
