Exploring Arizona’s Abandoned Highway 60 and the Claypool Tunnel
An evening pause: Better late than never. I forgot to schedule some pauses. This one is fascinating because of the history of technology it reveals.
Hat tip Diane Zimmerman.
On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.
The print edition can be purchased at Amazon. from any other book seller, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.
The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.
"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News
Mr.(&Mrs.) Z.,
–WOW. Good Stuff! I just watched this clip a few days ago! Was looking at route 66 videos and YT sent me down a rabbit hole.
This guy (“Sidetrack Adventures”) has a lot of cool stuff!
The day I sent this video to Bob, I spent the afternoon looking had videos from Sidetrack Adventures. Steve, the host, not only shows very good GoPro and drone video of the historic places, he does his research and makes interesting presentations about the sites.
I had discovered this guy a few months ago and always like his videos. I had not seen this one before. Thanks for posting.

For some excellent “driving videos,” I highly suggest “TheHighwayMan,” who can be found at https://www.youtube.com/@cochrab/videos
He has a good mix of locations, sound-tracks, and on-screen factoids.
My family was in Superior for a long time. I left in 1960s. Thank you for this wonderful video of LOST trail and HWY 60.
