My old plan was as bare-bones as they came, so I assumed that even though the new plan would cost more, my coverage would improve under Obamacare, at least marginally. It did not.
Under my old plan, my maximum out-of-pocket expense was $4,900. Under the new plan, I’m on the hook for up to $6,350. Copays for my doctor visits will double. For urgent-care visits, they will quadruple. Though slightly cheaper plans exist if I decide to shop around on the exchange, I will lose my dental coverage should I switch.
Needless to say, I am not pleased.
He is also shocked that the burden for paying for this hellish law will fall on him and other young citizens. What I am amazed at is how surprised he is. And I think this statement by one commenters sums things up very well:

Well, sweetie – unless you plan on voting for a member of Congress who will vote to repeal this thing, you are going to be in for a real shock over the coming years.
You weren’t willing to listen to us when we TRIED to tell you that this was exactly what was going to happen. Did you ever stop to think how it was that we knew that? Or did you stubbornly insist that we were knuckle-dragging imbeciles who wanted to see the President fail because of the color of his skin?
We.Tried.To.Warn.You.
If you’re willing to listen now, hear this – this is AS GOOD as it is going to get. From here on out, the costs are just going to go up, and the services offered will only go down.
And if you think that single payer is going to be cheaper, you need to wipe that thought from your head right now – it will be much, much more expensive than what you are looking at now.
I’m sorry that you are having to find this out the hard way.
You have a choice to make now – learn from your mistake and take political action accordingly, or suck it up and resign yourself to paying this kind of money for the rest of your life.
The ball is in your court.
On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.
The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.
The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.
"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News
