Readers! A November fund-raising drive!

It is unfortunately time for another November fund-raising campaign to support my work here at Behind the Black. I really dislike doing these, but 2025 is so far turning out to be a very poor year for donations and subscriptions, the worst since 2020. I very much need your support for this webpage to survive.

And I think I provide real value. Fifteen years ago I said SLS was garbage and should be cancelled. Almost a decade ago I said Orion was a lie and a bad idea. As early as 1998, long before almost anyone else, I predicted in my first book, Genesis: The Story of Apollo 8, that private enterprise and freedom would conquer the solar system, not government. Very early in the COVID panic and continuing throughout I noted that every policy put forth by the government (masks, social distancing, lockdowns, jab mandates) was wrong, misguided, and did more harm than good. In planetary science, while everyone else in the media still thinks Mars has no water, I have been reporting the real results from the orbiters now for more than five years, that Mars is in fact a planet largely covered with ice.

I could continue with numerous other examples. If you want to know what others will discover a decade hence, read what I write here at Behind the Black. And if you read my most recent book, Conscious Choice, you will find out what is going to happen in space in the next century.

This last claim might sound like hubris on my part, but I base it on my overall track record.

So please consider donating or subscribing to Behind the Black, either by giving a one-time contribution or a regular subscription. I could really use the support at this time. There are five ways of doing so:

1. Zelle: This is the only internet method that charges no fees. All you have to do is use the Zelle link at your internet bank and give my name and email address (zimmerman at nasw dot org). What you donate is what I get.

2. Patreon: Go to my website there and pick one of five monthly subscription amounts, or by making a one-time donation. Takes about a 10% cut.

3. A Paypal Donation or subscription, which takes about a 15% cut:

4. Donate by check. I get whatever you donate. Make the check payable to Robert Zimmerman and mail it to

The deep ocean is not where global warming has gone

The uncertainty of science: A new NASA study finds that the deep oceans have not warmed since 2005, striking dead one of the favorite theories of global warming advocates to explain the 18 year stall in global warming.

In the 21st century, greenhouse gases have continued to accumulate in the atmosphere, just as they did in the 20th century, but global average surface air temperatures have stopped rising in tandem with the gases. The temperature of the top half of the world’s oceans — above the 1.24-mile mark — is still climbing, but not fast enough to account for the stalled air temperatures.

Many processes on land, air and sea have been invoked to explain what is happening to the “missing” heat. One of the most prominent ideas is that the bottom half of the ocean is taking up the slack, but supporting evidence is slim. This latest study is the first to test the idea using satellite observations, as well as direct temperature measurements of the upper ocean. Scientists have been taking the temperature of the top half of the ocean directly since 2005, using a network of 3,000 floating temperature probes called the Argo array.

“The deep parts of the ocean are harder to measure,” said JPL’s William Llovel, lead author of the study published Sunday in the journal Nature Climate Change. “The combination of satellite and direct temperature data gives us a glimpse of how much sea level rise is due to deep warming. The answer is — not much.”

The bottom line: no one really knows what is going on, climate scientists still do not have a good handle on how the climate works, the science is not “settled”, and anyone who says it is is a liar.

Genesis cover

On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.

The print edition can be purchased at Amazon or from any other book seller. If you want an autographed copy the price is $60 for the hardback and $45 for the paperback, plus $8 shipping for each. Go here for purchasing details. The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.

The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.

"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News

Agreed but the new spin is ocean PH. Apparently since the heat idea didn’t pan out they are now saying that ocean acidification, caused by man made C02 emissions, is going to cause all the sea life to die. When will this bull crap ever end?

Of course the study didn’t find that the deep ocean is heating up, everyone knows its the deep deep ocean that is absorbing all of the heat.

Michael Chrighton once wrote a book on how a Country can only maintain its influence and control over people by causing a constant “state of fear”.
When the Soviet Union fell, the void was filled with happiness and prosperity. Global warming and climate change was meant to put us back under their Control with worry and fear. It won’t work until it affects us directly with perhaps managed blackouts due to the 30% drop in energy Production that Obama has mandated. (Except for those who pay their carbon tax)

CO2 in the ocean feeds the plankton and other single celled lifeforms at the base of the life cycle. It will turn our blue oceans green as plants feeds off the life rich fertilizer, creating oxygen as it nurtures the entire ocean ecosystem.
The CO2 in the air has already greened the planet above the water considerably according to satellite data. CO2 is the basis for all life on this planet. Without it, everything dies.

To call CO2 emissions pollution is the ultimate In stupid upside down thinking of the agenda driven control freaks that hate all life! … But it has allowed them to mandate and mediate all life In the name of protecting life. No food or energy can be produced without the blessing and waiver of the carbon police.
acidification of the ocean is impossible, the Tum’s (Calcium carbonate) on the bottom of the ocean is 2000 feet thick on average, that’s a lot of antacid.

Why blame the oceans for sucking up all the heat when outerspace is 300° below zero? Laws of thermodynamics State that heat will travel from the source to any heat sink until both have equalized in temperature. Apparently political correctness is exempt from the laws of nature. You see for every action there is an opposite and equal reaction, cause and effect, if the oceans have warmed up by as little as 1°, The water would have expanded to flow over all coastal areas, maybe even cover the entire state of Florida.

I would like to posit the idea that the danger to civilization by the AGCC cult is compounded by what I consider a false “fall” of the USSR. We exchanged a genuine threat (USSR and global communism) for a potemkin threat (AGCC) over a very short space of time. The particular institution of the USSR fell, but the structure and operation planning remained and moved on, while we LITERALLY tilted at windmills.

It is the geopolitical equivilent of dropping our pants to ties our shoes…

Since when have facts meant anything to the Global Warming or Climate Change people, they make something up,it’s disproved, then they move on to another farce.

  • Bravo, the climate change (agcc) people are water melons!

An interesting recalculation of ocean temperature absorption.

Until the statistics about yesterdays “Blue wave” (Not) and how the Black, Hispanic / minority and American female populations tended to vote, which is what really interests me and how it will potentially relate to the 2020 presidential election, this example of a mathematics miscalculation in MSM science reporting will do.
