Obamacare unsustainable according to insurers
Finding out what’s in it: Healthcare insurance companies are warning that because of Obamacare they either must be allowed to raise rates significantly or they will have to close down.
The rate increases will be on top of gigantic increases already imposed. Read it all. None of the news is good, and it is only going to get worse.
Readers!
Every February I run a fund-raising drive during my birthday month. This year I celebrate my 72nd birthday, and hope and plan to continue writing and posting on Behind the Black for as long as I am able.
I hope my readers will support this effort. As I did in my November fund-raising drive, I am offering autographed copies of my books for large donations. Donate $250 and you can have a choice of the hardback of either Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8 or Conscious Choice: The origins of slavery in America and why it matters today and for our future in outer space. Donate $200 and you can get an autographed paperback copy of either. IMPORTANT! If you donate enough to get a book, please email me separately to tell me which book you want and the address to mail it to.
Please consider supporting my work here at Behind the Black. My analysis of space, politics, and culture, taken from the perspective of an historian, is almost always on the money and ahead of the game. For example, in 2020 I correctly predicted that the COVID panic was unnecessary, that the virus was apparently simply a variation of the flu, that masks were not simply pointless but if worn incorrectly were a health threat, that the lockdowns were a disaster and did nothing to stop the spread of COVID. Every one of those 2020 conclusions has turned out right.
Your help allows me to do this kind of intelligent analysis. I take no advertising or sponsors, so my reporting isn't influenced by donations by established space or drug companies. Instead, I rely entirely on donations and subscriptions from my readers, which gives me the freedom to write what I think, unencumbered by outside influences.
You can support me either by giving a one-time contribution or a regular subscription. There are four ways of doing so:
1. Zelle: This is the only internet method that charges no fees. All you have to do is use the Zelle link at your internet bank and give my name and email address (zimmerman at nasw dot org). What you donate is what I get.
2. Patreon: Go to my website there and pick one of five monthly subscription amounts, or by making a one-time donation.
3. A Paypal Donation or subscription:
4. Donate by check, payable to Robert Zimmerman and mailed to

As per design.
Actually proves you can sell a bridge to a significant portion of the population.
The liberals fell for the insurance scam hook line and sinker.
They listened to the insurance companies who said if’ you could force everyone to buy insurance it would all work out and be cheaper in the long run.’
An industry that lobbies congress daily and constantly told a lie? Who would have thought?
Sorry folks but the healthcare system will be a tiered system just like it was before. Just like it is ALL OVER THE WORLD.
The rich get all they can afford in private care.
The middle class gets varying degrees of care according to what they pay for.
The poor get the good old government care system.
Name a place on this planet that thats not true and I will eat my shorts.
Cuba. (No middle class.)
Actually there is.
Its just very small and often looks like the Cuban upper class.
Its accepted that small bushiness owners are almost always in the middle class at least.
So everyone who owns a fishing boat and or an old car is a small business owner in Cuba.
Class is relative depending on everyones level around you.
But the shorts are ready.
pzatchok:
Don’t fall into the Marxist narrative by using their “class-structure-warfare” rhetoric. When, in this Country, did we start thinking of ourselves as “members of a particular Class?”
D K Rögnvald Williams: “North Korea.” –it’s a utopian paradise..
I am not in a class war.
But just because I use a term that is generally accepted to mean something the world over doesn’t mean I agree with its definitions or strictures.
And there are economic classifications in the US. The definitions are not a limitation in our society or written into law.
We are certainly not like India which just had (illegally) a woman stoned to death for marrying below her class.
In my original statement I could have said
“you only get what you pay for”.
But since one of the lefts great arguments is class warfare I felt more comfortable talking to them with their own definitions.
“What brings us the most confidence about the long term stability and health of the marketplace is its growth,” Cohen said.
“…new enrollees under ObamaCare had 22 percent higher medical costs than people who received coverage from employers.”
“What we’re likely to see is more of a market correction than any kind of death spiral,” Levitt said. “There are enough people enrolled at this point that the market is sustainable. The premiums were just too low.”
Okaaay…
So what is saving the marketplace is growth. More enrollees who have on average 22% higher costs than typical insured. All that’s needed is a substantial premium increase.
Only in gov’t land does significantly increasing premiums cause no decrease in enrollees…
From the Article: “While analysts expect the market to stabilize once premiums rise and more young, healthy people sign up…”
OK, what part of third-grade economics did these analysts miss? The first thing that we learn in grade school is the most often reinforced in everyday life: when the price goes up, we are more reluctant to buy; we buy less.
Even Obama and his socialists understand this, which is why they want to skyrocket electricity prices to make it “more efficient” (they also misunderstand the meaning of efficiency — using less due to price increases is not an increase in efficiency, but an increase in efficiency can lead to less usage, such as what is happening due to CFL and LED lights).
Why would these analysts think that people who do not need health insurance would buy more of it when it *costs* more and gives less benefits (e.g. higher deductibles) that are not needed anyway? Whatever these analysts are smoking, the rest of us may need to smoke it in order to ignore the death spiral of our entire economy, culture, and standard of living.
With analysts like these, who needs enemies. They could analyse us into oblivion all on their own.
Clearly, Obama is friendly with Cuba, Venezuela, and Iran because he is making us more like them with each passing month (read: “fiasco”).
Related, because its about “liberals” and the damage that they have done, along with the help of Republicans to our country in creating the dependency culture:
I found this to be a fairly written article about the things that Ted Kennedy did in regards to American immigration policies and their negative effects that are still resulting from primarily his, and Reagan’s, and both Bush’s and Clinton’s and Obama’s supportive actions.
I also find the paragraph selected below to be probably the real motivation for his zealousness in regards to immigration, legal or otherwise. Why are American wages stagnant to the point that there is now a push for a $15 dollar “minimum” wage? Ted Kennedy, Liberal lion of the Senate. After coming to understand these facts the question remains: What do reasonable Americans do about it?

“He also said that he believes that, despite all the liberal veneer, Kennedy was deeply beholden to the country’s banking titans and other globalist business entities who have so much interest in the free flow of international labor and in keeping the wages of Americans stagnant. (This was given credibility later when Kennedy was lauded for the great work he did to help the high-tech industry of Massachusetts to hire foreign computer programmers.)”
Young ppl aren’t buying because most are healthy & if they’re in a car accident (big cause of healthy young ppl needing hospital services) is usually covered in car ins. They like most ppl don’t want to pay for services they are not using. And most impt ppl signing up in a.m. And using insurance in p.m. is not insurance. You can’t get homeowners ins after the house is on fire. And finally you have a lot of non compliance. Ppl don’t follow dr instructions & come back to hospital sicker & w drug resistance problems
