An evening pause: In watching this passionate 1999 performance of this anti-war song, I couldn’t help thinking that the only zombies present were the audience and the singers, locked into simplistic 1960s messages without thought. Nonetheless, it is a great performance and song.

I saw her play at a small venue in Nashville (about 150-200 people) 5-6 years ago, it was amazing! Loved this band. Passed too soon.

Are you thinking of Sinéad O’Connor’s “Fight the real enemy.“, or did Ms. O’Riordan do something similar?
I think ‘Bad Wolves’ do a right tribute to Dolores O’Riordan and the Cranberries with their rendition of the song. They’re donating all proceeds from the song to her family. It shows class in an industry where it’s sorely lacking..

Robert Zimmerman understands the conflict in Ireland as well as he does the greenhouse effect and climate.
Which is to say, not very well.
Stevo: It sure is easy to throw quick insults, but a lot harder to explain yourself thoughtfully, with facts. I am always willing to learn. It is your job to educate, not denigrate those you disagree with, a technique that surely will persuade no one of your position.
My commentary here was about the simplistic nature of these kinds of songs. If anything, these types of songs are no different than your comment, devoid of content and aimed merely at pushing emotional buttons. Ireland’s conflicts, as well as the climate, require a lot more than that for a reasonable understanding.
