China launches two GPS-type satellites
Using its Long March 3B rocket China today successfully launched two more of its Beidou GPS-type satellites into orbit,
The leaders in the 2019 launch race:
26 China
17 Russia
11 SpaceX
6 Europe (Arianespace)
China now leads the U.S. 26 to 23 in the national rankings.
On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.
The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.
The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.
"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News

I read there was a “little” damage downwind from the boosters. Fire etc.
Jhon, regarding the damage, Andrew Jones mentioned this on his Twitter feed: https://twitter.com/AJ_FI/status/1198173691378618368
Original links to images and video from Weibo:

Later in Andrew’s feed is this interesting comment apparently from a Chinese citizen: “But since most of you don’t know Chinese, let me tell you the truth. The people in that region were warned and evacuated before the launch. And they will get new houses for free as well as compensation.”
This is Twitter, and Weibo, so who knows? Fake News? Chinese propaganda? Nevertheless it points out the continuing difficulties China has in dealing with an inland launch site.
