Readers! A November fund-raising drive!

It is unfortunately time for another November fund-raising campaign to support my work here at Behind the Black. I really dislike doing these, but 2025 is so far turning out to be a very poor year for donations and subscriptions, the worst since 2020. I very much need your support for this webpage to survive.

And I think I provide real value. Fifteen years ago I said SLS was garbage and should be cancelled. Almost a decade ago I said Orion was a lie and a bad idea. As early as 1998, long before almost anyone else, I predicted in my first book, Genesis: The Story of Apollo 8, that private enterprise and freedom would conquer the solar system, not government. Very early in the COVID panic and continuing throughout I noted that every policy put forth by the government (masks, social distancing, lockdowns, jab mandates) was wrong, misguided, and did more harm than good. In planetary science, while everyone else in the media still thinks Mars has no water, I have been reporting the real results from the orbiters now for more than five years, that Mars is in fact a planet largely covered with ice.

I could continue with numerous other examples. If you want to know what others will discover a decade hence, read what I write here at Behind the Black. And if you read my most recent book, Conscious Choice, you will find out what is going to happen in space in the next century.

This last claim might sound like hubris on my part, but I base it on my overall track record.

So please consider donating or subscribing to Behind the Black, either by giving a one-time contribution or a regular subscription. I could really use the support at this time. There are five ways of doing so:

1. Zelle: This is the only internet method that charges no fees. All you have to do is use the Zelle link at your internet bank and give my name and email address (zimmerman at nasw dot org). What you donate is what I get.

2. Patreon: Go to my website there and pick one of five monthly subscription amounts, or by making a one-time donation. Takes about a 10% cut.

3. A Paypal Donation or subscription, which takes about a 15% cut:

4. Donate by check. I get whatever you donate. Make the check payable to Robert Zimmerman and mail it to

How to Become a Member of the new Nobility

How to become a member of the new nobility.

The author warns us that this essay is satire, but sadly, it is all too true. Also, he leaves out one criteria that is essential for any of his categories: A blind partisan loyalty to Democratic Party politics.

Genesis cover

On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.

The print edition can be purchased at Amazon or from any other book seller. If you want an autographed copy the price is $60 for the hardback and $45 for the paperback, plus $8 shipping for each. Go here for purchasing details. The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.

The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.

"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News

  • The satire alert was not needed, and you are correct about democrat party affiliations!

Me and my friends have been talking about this since high school. 25 years or more.

Its proven and its NOT satire.
(The essay might be, but the reality is not)

One is now an academic(and actually knows the Obamas casually)
    Three are local cops.
    One is a lawyer.
    One is a Priest.

The privileges are there. Real and usable.

The essay did leave out actors. But they fall into two other categories that make their own category not necessary.
Only rich actors have power. The local playhouse actors have no more influence than the common people.
Only well known actors have the power to cross over into the news media and thus are looked on with that old time trust we used to give all reporters.

Satire masquerading as reality. The two categories that I focused on were the media talking heads and the exclusion of the military officer. The rest IMO are the standard elite glad handers and wanta be’s

The media in my mind, which masquerades as journalism, which is actually entertainment and is interpreted as journalism. If I had my choice THAT would be considered THE most dangerous category because people today, who should be more connected and in control of their own government believe that what these purposefully chosen, empty headed people say and do is “truth”. The media has been wisely taken over by the “true believers” (both political and corporate) who are all down with the cause and they control the message of what is now for the most part a propaganda machine.

How cynical it is to say that, but I talk to people (keep in mind its in NYC) and a good percentage of them are politically just plain stupid and ignorant on the subject of politics, the Constitution and government and most are constantly talking about who’s on dancing with the Stars or some other of the very well written and produced alternate substitute representations of American reality. These are the conversations that I am privy to.

And as for the military officer no longer being considered for entry into the “elite” class, that may well be part of a purposeful agenda. Who is it that can threaten a powerful politician if things go to SHT due to the politicians actions? A competent, strong and well organized military with firm allegiance to the Constitution and not a cult of personality. Consider all of the high level dismissals lately in all branches of the military. Is this disciplinary or strategic on the part of the administration?

Where is George Washington when you need him?

  • General (Admiral in the Navy) is O-7, not O-6.

For the new liberals the military is the place stupid people go to work.

Common solders are just to stupid to find civilian jobs or they are testosterone driven wanna be hero’s. They tend to become cops after their service is up of course.

The officers are to poor to pay for their own collage degree and or to stupid to get full scholarships any other way.

Either way none of them are to be admired, just pitied in that they might have to die for the nation in some stupid war in some far off land for some stupid reason. And no war is ever for a good reason.

In no way do they trust service personnel to follow the orders of their civilian superiors. Or even the President.
So they have found a way to make a civilian army that they can make sure follows their orders and not some old fashioned constitution. A group of Armed trained people dedicated to following the rule of law and their civilian overlords orders with none of that pesky patriotism to get in the way.
They have brought you The Department of Homeland Security. A civilian police force to rival the military.
    Bush created and Obama armed.

You are correct about the actors, but I would also include all famous entertainers, not just the Hollywood stars. Star athletes also tend to receive special treatment.

However, the average Democrat/progressive would not be nobility, exactly, but they would (continue to) be allowed to lord over the rest of us peons as though they are slave-owners. They are considered, after all, better than the rest of us, because they are unquestioning true-believers in whatever the politically correct opinion of the day may be.

I live among them. A way to determine who is which is whether they change their opinion instantly when they are informed of the new PC rule du jour. Democrats and progressives do not want to be seen as “different,” even though the whole movement originated from “question authority.” Now that they are the authority – ruling class – they are no longer willing to question it. At the very least, their attitude is “go along to get along,” which is why the current Republican leadership appears so much like the Democrat/progressive class.
