Obama will attend last Endeavour launch; Rep. Giffords also expected
Politicians go sightseeing: Obama will attend the last Endeavour launch; Rep. Giffords is also expected to attend.
Giffords makes sense, as her husband will be on the flight. Obama is merely taking another of his numerous breaks from work to get a last look at a program he helped kill.
On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.
The print edition can be purchased at Amazon. from any other book seller, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit.
The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.
The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.
"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News

>.. Obama is merely taking another of his numerous breaks from work to get a last look at a program he helped kill….
I assume Obama sees it as taking his bows, for cutting the highest visability pork program in the country.
…. The other folks there likely disagree.
Sometimes your snark is baffling. Are you saying he should have saved the Shuttle? Keep flying them to deliver toilet paper and happy meals to the ISS until every orbiter has had a chance to kill a crew?
If NASA is going to own and fly their own spacecraft (which they shouldn’t) then they should at least be flying something that represents the cutting edge of know how.. not 70s trash that they knew would never meet the design requirements before it even flew.
Spending programs have to be cut. Why should this one survive?
This is the price we must pay for the evils of the past.
The martians have waited this long. They can continue their patient vigil for our arrival.
