Readers! A November fund-raising drive!

It is unfortunately time for another November fund-raising campaign to support my work here at Behind the Black. I really dislike doing these, but 2025 is so far turning out to be a very poor year for donations and subscriptions, the worst since 2020. I very much need your support for this webpage to survive.

And I think I provide real value. Fifteen years ago I said SLS was garbage and should be cancelled. Almost a decade ago I said Orion was a lie and a bad idea. As early as 1998, long before almost anyone else, I predicted in my first book, Genesis: The Story of Apollo 8, that private enterprise and freedom would conquer the solar system, not government. Very early in the COVID panic and continuing throughout I noted that every policy put forth by the government (masks, social distancing, lockdowns, jab mandates) was wrong, misguided, and did more harm than good. In planetary science, while everyone else in the media still thinks Mars has no water, I have been reporting the real results from the orbiters now for more than five years, that Mars is in fact a planet largely covered with ice.

I could continue with numerous other examples. If you want to know what others will discover a decade hence, read what I write here at Behind the Black. And if you read my most recent book, Conscious Choice, you will find out what is going to happen in space in the next century.

This last claim might sound like hubris on my part, but I base it on my overall track record.

So please consider donating or subscribing to Behind the Black, either by giving a one-time contribution or a regular subscription. I could really use the support at this time. There are five ways of doing so:

1. Zelle: This is the only internet method that charges no fees. All you have to do is use the Zelle link at your internet bank and give my name and email address (zimmerman at nasw dot org). What you donate is what I get.

2. Patreon: Go to my website there and pick one of five monthly subscription amounts, or by making a one-time donation. Takes about a 10% cut.

3. A Paypal Donation or subscription, which takes about a 15% cut:

4. Donate by check. I get whatever you donate. Make the check payable to Robert Zimmerman and mail it to

Today’s blacklisted American: Real estate company fires a mother for expressing her opinions

Janet Roberson and her family

They’re coming for you next: A California mother of three, Janet Roberson, was fired only days after she stood up at her local school board and objected to the queer curriculum the board was forcing on young children. This is what she had said:

Janet Roberson spoke at a Benicia Unified School District (BUSD) meeting on April 20, where she expressed concerns about the district’s sexual education curriculum that she said taught “gender confusion, not gender clarification” because it told 10-year-old students they could choose their own gender and receive puberty blockers. She said teaching “vulnerable children that lifetime dependence on medical care is a viable option is completely unacceptable and evil.”

“Children are being asked to identify their pronouns and this is now part of the ten-year-old curriculum,” Roberson said of the curriculum. “This forces a gender discussion beyond the scope of the state requirements and complicates an already overburdened classroom environment.”

“We are alarmed that gender identity is now being discussed in math classes,” she added. “This takes time from core learning and does not benefit the students who are in our community. Teaching kids that there isn’t standard or truth and that you can believe anything that you want to believe is not scientifically accurate or medically correct. For example, the notion that a girl can decide to be a boy, or a boy can decide to be a girl is not true and should not be taught.”

On May 1st, ten days later, her real estate company, Compass, notified her that it was severing all ties with her. Though the company refused to say why it made this action, it occurred almost immediately after a campaign of slander and defamation against Roberson was started by the Progressive Democrats of Benici. The organization’s treasurer had written Compass, demanded it “comment on Roberson’s ‘conduct’ and the ‘incendiary language’ that she used to further her ‘agenda’ that Christian described as ‘anti-equity, anti-trans, anti-Black, and anti-choice.'”

“The public deserves to know how Compass can reign in someone’s internalized hate for transgender kids and equity-seeking Black Americans (and especially Black children) so Compass clients can have a fair and decent experience when buying and selling property. I shudder,” she concluded in her letter.

At the same time, on April 27th, a hate-filled and slanderous letter against Roberson was published in the Benecia Times-Herald by local resident William “Billy” Innes. In it he called Roberson a bigot, a racist, homophobic, transphobic, and holding beliefs no different than the Nazis who practiced genocide and eugenics in their concentration camps. “He was on record saying I’m a Nazi and I’m a daughter of Hitler; I’m a proponent of eugenics,” said Roberson about the letter.

In 2022 Innes lost a campaign for the town’s city council, running clearly as a progressive Democrat but finishing last, and there are reports indicating he is also a member of Progressive Democrats of Benecia.

Both Innes and Christian were following the modern Democratic Party playbook, Obama’s legacy of hate, whereby Democrats no longer argue rationally about anything but simply throw slanders out against anyone who disagrees with them. You don’t like teaching children lies or pornography? You’re a Nazi, a racist, and a white supremacist!

What’s worse is how effective this slander tactic has become. Few question it. Instead, companies like Compass kow-tow immediately to the accusations, accepting the lies as the truth of God.

According to the article at the first link, Roberson can’t sue Compass for the loss of her job for a variety of reasons, including California’s SLAPP laws. It also implies it can’t sue Christian or Innes for slander, because of these same laws. I am skeptical of this claim. Roberson should consult one of the many non-profit law firms that now exist to defend people in her situation.

Genesis cover

On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.

The print edition can be purchased at Amazon or from any other book seller. If you want an autographed copy the price is $60 for the hardback and $45 for the paperback, plus $8 shipping for each. Go here for purchasing details. The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.

The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.

"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News

Read through the leader bios for Compass and you’ll conclude that it is run by radical Leftist of the Obama faction. https://www.compass.com/about/team/

The Cultural Revolution continues. The history of Red China needs to be taught in the worst way.

My wife’s sister lives in Benecia and we use to live in the SF Bay area. Six of her siblings lived in the Bay Area and all but one of them viewed me as evil. Any questioning of the woke left’s agenda resulted in personal attacks and rational discussion was not possible. Facts were irrelevant and their understanding of the world was based upon what they found on Facebook. It seems that I was trying to kill them by questioning the use of masks. With Covid, I just left them alone. As painful as it was, I closed my businesses and moved out of state. California is lost and Janet Roberson should consider moving to a more reasonable environment.

    Enough is Enough.

How about organizing a “Walkout of Students”, “A Day Without Brainwashing of Students”.

Lets see how empty classrooms are when Parents rise up, “Organize Against Indoctrination”.

How about a favoriter opf the Left in the Sixties, “Teach Ins”

I understand California has a law protecting lawful off -duty conduct. Roberson should sue on those grounds and demand reinstatement.
