Jess Erskine – The Prisoner Intro, re-visited
An evening pause: Those familiar with the original series, The Prisoner, will find this quite amusing. As the filmmaker notes on the youtube webpage, “And yes, this is cheesy as crap. I made it that way on purpose. Be seeing you!”
And if you aren’t familiar with the original, which was a truly unique and very surreal spy TV show of the 1960s, watch the original opening first. It is amazing how close this new version matches, in a ridiculous way, the shot angles and action of the actual opening sequence.
Hat tip Wayne DeVette.
Readers!
Please consider supporting my work here at Behind the Black. Your support allows me the freedom and ability to analyze objectively the ongoing renaissance in space, as well as the cultural changes -- for good or ill -- that are happening across America. Fourteen years ago I wrote that SLS and Orion were a bad ideas, a waste of money, would be years behind schedule, and better replaced by commercial private enterprise. Only now does it appear that Washington might finally recognize this reality.
In 2020 when the world panicked over COVID I wrote that the panic was unnecessary, that the virus was apparently simply a variation of the flu, that masks were not simply pointless but if worn incorrectly were a health threat, that the lockdowns were a disaster and did nothing to stop the spread of COVID. Only in the past year have some of our so-called experts in the health field have begun to recognize these facts.
Your help allows me to do this kind of intelligent analysis. I take no advertising or sponsors, so my reporting isn't influenced by donations by established space or drug companies. Instead, I rely entirely on donations and subscriptions from my readers, which gives me the freedom to write what I think, unencumbered by outside influences.

That’s fabulous! I just rewatched that series a couple of years ago… definitely still great. Funny parody… I love the kids on the see-saw… just like the guys on whatever the heck they were on in the show.
She didn’t break the plate when the coffee cup bounced!
I shouldn’t be surprised to find fans of The Prisoner here.
I’m sure most have seen The Simpsons take but just in case:

Cue Iron Maiden, “The Prisoner”.
What, no penny farthing bicycles or weather balloons?
Instead of Leo McKern, maybe Brian Blessed as No. 2
Now for Bob Odenkirk to play Kolchak: The Night Stalker.
Catch Thirty-Thr33:
Thank you very much! I was not aware of that Iron Maiden tune.
Jeff–
“Bob Odenkirk to play Kolchak: The Night Stalker.”
That is a brilliant idea! I’d expect them to ruin it, but great casting!
Terrific! Those were the days.
Thank You. I’m always looking for something new, old, new to me to watch. The show is eerily forward thinking in some ways like cameras everywhere, a central authoritarian governance, and all media controlled. The scary big balloon would today be a robot enforcer. It’s fun to watch. Almost Orwellian.
What a treat !
Thanks for the smile.
Long time prisoner.
The setting of the Village always seemed amusing, I assumed it was a dressed up set.
Turns out Portmeirion is like that almost every day.
