My February birthday fund-raising campaign for Behind the Black is now over. Thank you to everyone that so generously donated. You don’t have to give anything to read my work, and yet so many of you donate or subscribe. I can’t express what that support means to me.

For those who still wish to support my work, please consider donating or subscribing to Behind the Black, either by giving a one-time contribution or a regular subscription. There are five ways of doing so:

1. Zelle: This is the only internet method that charges no fees. All you have to do is use the Zelle link at your internet bank and give my name and email address (zimmerman at nasw dot org). What you donate is what I get.

2. Patreon: Go to my website there and pick one of five monthly subscription amounts, or by making a one-time donation. Takes about a 10% cut.

3. A Paypal Donation or subscription, which takes about a 15% cut:

4. Donate by check. I get whatever you donate. Make the check payable to Robert Zimmerman and mail it to

Ted Nugent – Cat Scratch Fever

An evening pause: Performed live 1979. I had never heard of this real disease caused from an infected cat scratch, until my knee surgeon warned me about it prior to surgery. As our two cats are gentle and have never scratched me, and are also indoor cats, I wasn’t concerned.

Then Diane sent me this song. Heh. You learn something new every day.

Hat tip Diane Zimmerman.

Note: At present I have almost no suggestions for evening pauses, not even from my regular contributors. If you’ve suggested pauses in the past you know the drill and have the guidelines. If you haven’t done so before but want to, just mention this fact in the comments below. I will contact you with the guidelines. Don’t include your suggestion in your comment or then I can’t really use it.

Genesis cover

On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.

The print edition can be purchased at Amazon or from any other book seller. If you want an autographed copy the price is $60 for the hardback and $45 for the paperback, plus $8 shipping for each. Go here for purchasing details. The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.

The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.

"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News

Nice lip sync performance from young Uncle Ted when he had a full mane.
He’s been quite the solid conservative throughout the years, and has a pretty good show weekly on the Real America Voice network.

Ted- has never used drugs, alcohol, or tobacco.

“Cat scratch fever (usually called cat scratch disease or CSD) is an illness caused by the bacteria Bartonella henselae (B. henselae). Fleas spread B. henselae to cats. Cats (especially kittens) can have a blood infection from the bacteria without symptoms for months. Cats can then spread the bacteria to humans when they scratch or bite you, or if they lick a wound you already have. Most cases are self-limiting and resolve on their own in a few weeks. If necessary, the antibiotic Azithromycin can be used to speed recovery.”
–Avoid allowing your Cats to lick an open wound and you should be OK

Not to be confused with “Crazy Cat-Lady Disease,” or “Toxoplasma gondii (T. gondii), “a microscopic parasite that infects most warm-blooded animals. Infections with toxoplasmosis are associated with a variety of neuropsychiatric and behavioral conditions, and pregnant women are highly susceptible as it causes fetal abnormalities.”

Yo–Mr. Z., how far are you away from Grandma Guthrie’s house? What’s Up with That?!
I’m hearing your Chief of Police in Tucson, is a scumbag and incomp.

I kept getting him confused with Cat Stevens…the muslim….or was that Katt Williams….

I’ve had cat scratch fever, tho maybe not some formal disease. Years ago our vet said we needed to bathe our cats and told how/what to do (gentle room temp water basically). Two of the three were docile and got their baths with no issues. The third, a young feisty orange one (of course) scratched me pretty good and also bit the snot out of my hand.

Nothing all day but woke up the next morning and after standing upright from bed, I let the arm drop that was wounded and darn near passed out from the pain. Got put on antibiotics.

Never wash a cat, no matter how good your intentions. Nugent’s CSV is much more preferable.

I’m interested in learning your guidelines for EPs. Hit me up.

Have a few evening pause suggestions, but I’m old and forgot your requirements. If you could help me out.

    Thanks

  • Richard V Reese

I, too, have a suggestion or two.
    What ARE your requirements?
    I’m old, too . . . but I never knew the requirements.
