Genesis cover

On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.

The print edition can be purchased at Amazon. from any other book seller, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.

The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.

"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News

On the radio

The John Batchelor Show is beginning to create podcasts of individual segments, including the ones I do with John twice a week. Below is an embed of last night’s appearance.

I am going to play with these to see how to routinely add them to the webpage. Probably, I will place them as a link in the right column in the section titled “Recent and upcoming appearances.”

Readers!

My annual February birthday fund-raising drive for Behind the Black is now over. Thank you to everyone who donated or subscribed. While not a record-setter, the donations were more than sufficient and slightly above average.

As I have said many times before, I can’t express what it means to me to get such support, especially as no one is required to pay anything to read my work. Thank you all again!

For those readers who like my work here at Behind the Black and haven't contributed so far, please consider donating or subscribing. My analysis of space, politics, and culture, taken from the perspective of an historian, is almost always on the money and ahead of the game. For example, in 2020 I correctly predicted that the COVID panic was unnecessary, that the virus was apparently simply a variation of the flu, that masks were not simply pointless but if worn incorrectly were a health threat, that the lockdowns were a disaster and did nothing to stop the spread of COVID. Every one of those 2020 conclusions has turned out right.

Your help allows me to do this kind of intelligent analysis. I take no advertising or sponsors, so my reporting isn't influenced by donations by established space or drug companies. Instead, I rely entirely on donations and subscriptions from my readers, which gives me the freedom to write what I think, unencumbered by outside influences.

You can support me either by giving a one-time contribution or a regular subscription. There are four ways of doing so:

1. Zelle: This is the only internet method that charges no fees. All you have to do is use the Zelle link at your internet bank and give my name and email address (zimmerman at nasw dot org). What you donate is what I get.

2. Patreon: Go to my website there and pick one of five monthly subscription amounts, or by making a one-time donation.

3. A Paypal Donation or subscription:

4. Donate by check, payable to Robert Zimmerman and mailed to

You can also support me by buying one of my books, as noted in the boxes interspersed throughout the webpage or shown in the menu above.

Excellent! I’ve been able to pick your segment out of an hour’s broadcast but doing so is a bit tedious. So, this will be a great time saver.

Thank you for appearing on the John Batchelor show. (I had never heard of Al Bowley before I started listening to him).
And thank you for doing the “Good old Gullible” George Noori show. I wish more people who didn’t have several styles of tin foil hats would go on his show.

Yes, please, it would be great to have links to podcasts of your appearances. John Bachelor’s show is always interesting in its entirety, but is accessible to me (live) on radio only during the height of summer.

Robert: I caught you on Bachelor’s Show. It was refreshing to hear a rational discussion….I am glad that Noory had some ephiphanic moment and fired “he who will not be named” Good luck with Ol’ George, he is very hard for me to listen to sometimes, when he starts interrupting the guests with tin foil hat woo…..Maybe you can help him see the light??

Very enjoyable and informative. Someday I hope to be as geeky as you.

I’ve enjoyed your segments on the Batchelor show for some time now.
An excellent part of a generally interesting program (I think of Batchelor’s program as the “anti-NPR”)
I believe that’s how I became aware of your blog.

Seconded. And stealing “anti-NPR” Perfect description of the JB Show. Or maybe NPR for the Rational person… LOL!
