By 2017 one-third of U.S will have no Obamacare insurance choices
Finding out what’s in it: Due to the collapse of the Obamacare exchanges, by 2017 one-third of U.S will have no health insurance choices.
Seven entire states are projected to have just one carrier in 2017: Alaska, Alabama, Kansas, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Wyoming, according to research by the Avalere consultancy. And more than half of the country, 55 percent, may end up having two or fewer insurers to choose from on those government-run exchanges, Avalere said. “And there may be some sub-region counties where no plans are available,” a report by Avalere on its analysis found.
I must remind people once again that Obamacare was a law written and pushed through entirely by the Democratic Party and President Obama. The Republican Party, even its generally pro-government leadership, refused to have anything to do with it, noting repeatedly that the law, as written, made no sense and was guaranteed to cause the collapse of the health insurance industry. We are now seeing that happen.
Of course, this means we must all vote Democratic, because their desire to fix the problem by turning the health industry into a nationalized government-run operation, not dissimilar to the Motor Vehicle Department of your state, is obviously the only solution. And you are obviously a racist for disagreeing!
Readers!
Every February I run a fund-raising drive during my birthday month. This year I celebrate my 72nd birthday, and hope and plan to continue writing and posting on Behind the Black for as long as I am able.
I hope my readers will support this effort. As I did in my November fund-raising drive, I am offering autographed copies of my books for large donations. Donate $250 and you can have a choice of the hardback of either Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8 or Conscious Choice: The origins of slavery in America and why it matters today and for our future in outer space. Donate $200 and you can get an autographed paperback copy of either. IMPORTANT! If you donate enough to get a book, please email me separately to tell me which book you want and the address to mail it to.
Please consider supporting my work here at Behind the Black. My analysis of space, politics, and culture, taken from the perspective of an historian, is almost always on the money and ahead of the game. For example, in 2020 I correctly predicted that the COVID panic was unnecessary, that the virus was apparently simply a variation of the flu, that masks were not simply pointless but if worn incorrectly were a health threat, that the lockdowns were a disaster and did nothing to stop the spread of COVID. Every one of those 2020 conclusions has turned out right.
Your help allows me to do this kind of intelligent analysis. I take no advertising or sponsors, so my reporting isn't influenced by donations by established space or drug companies. Instead, I rely entirely on donations and subscriptions from my readers, which gives me the freedom to write what I think, unencumbered by outside influences.
You can support me either by giving a one-time contribution or a regular subscription. There are four ways of doing so:
1. Zelle: This is the only internet method that charges no fees. All you have to do is use the Zelle link at your internet bank and give my name and email address (zimmerman at nasw dot org). What you donate is what I get.
2. Patreon: Go to my website there and pick one of five monthly subscription amounts, or by making a one-time donation.
3. A Paypal Donation or subscription:

My recollection is that, except for one meeting Obama arranged “for show,” the Republicans were completely shut out of writing or even amending this asinine law.
Until we stop voting for the greater of two evils i.e….Hilary Clinton we will continue getting the same old corruption in D.C. I am voting for Trump since he is an unknown/known player. Hilary Clinton is a KNOWN player and a seriously corrupt one at that. The media is and has become as corrupt at the Clinton’s and will not report the news truthfully. Hell Obama won’t be the President if the media was not so freaking corrupt. Roman is burning people…WAKE UP!
The only thing that will wake up the sheeple is pain , and a lot of it …It gives me no pleasure stating an obvious fact.

You may be thinking of the meeting about Obama’s stimulus package. He met with Republicans, heard their input, then ignored them completely.
I recall that Republicans were taken even less seriously, where Obamacare was concerned. Your statement was correct except for the “except for” part: “[T]he Republicans were completely shut out of writing or even amending this asinine law.”
Edward,
I think DK Williams memory is correct. The meeting he remembers was the one in which Paul Ryan made his name for himself by challenging Obama face to face with some real facts about Obamacare and the budget, and how it could not work as written.
I will have to believe the both of you on this one, as I can’t find anything that far back. Obamacare is so bad and so often in the news on on the web that recent news about it overwhelms my historical searches. I will also take such a meeting as the Republicans being fooled a second time about Obama’s interest in hearing their views on any matter. After all, as Obama famously said on the topic of cooperation, input, and compromise: “I won.”
