India to launch spare GPS satellite because of single satellite failure
Because of the failure of the atomic clocks on one of its GPS satellites have failed, India now plans to launch one of their spare satellites to increase the system’s redundancy.
The article does not say whether they will make any changes to the clocks on the spare satellite, which are the same as the failed clocks on the Indian satellite and were all built by the same European company that built the clocks on Europe’s Galileo GPS satellites that are also failing.

Please consider supporting my work here at Behind the Black. Your support allows me the freedom and ability to analyze objectively the ongoing renaissance in space, as well as the cultural changes -- for good or ill -- that are happening across America. Fourteen years ago I wrote that SLS and Orion were a bad ideas, a waste of money, would be years behind schedule, and better replaced by commercial private enterprise. Only now does it appear that Washington might finally recognize this reality.
In 2020 when the world panicked over COVID I wrote that the panic was unnecessary, that the virus was apparently simply a variation of the flu, that masks were not simply pointless but if worn incorrectly were a health threat, that the lockdowns were a disaster and did nothing to stop the spread of COVID. Only in the past year have some of our so-called experts in the health field have begun to recognize these facts.
Your help allows me to do this kind of intelligent analysis. I take no advertising or sponsors, so my reporting isn't influenced by donations by established space or drug companies. Instead, I rely entirely on donations and subscriptions from my readers, which gives me the freedom to write what I think, unencumbered by outside influences.

In Europe, we do not discriminate against failure. All consequences have equal value. Nothing matters. Just don’t count the goals made in the schools’ soccer teams (true!) and call every failure a success, et voilà!
LocalFluff,
In the US, we just hand out participation trophies.
Thus, we have failed to raise young adults who are capable of facing, handling, or overcoming the slightest disappointment, such as when the other liberal Democrat candidate wins on the Republican Party ticket. (Wait. They got a liberal Democrat, so why do they think they didn’t win?) Rather than rallying and vowing to do better next time, they riot, cry, and dress up as lady-parts, etc. — in essence, they throw temper tantrums suitable for a baby, not for an adult with responsibilities, such as voting, working, or driving. Or raising children capable of living in the real world.
Yes, the US has an entire generation made up of delicate snowflakes that melt down under the slightest warmth of reality. We call them “millennials” so that they get a false sense of importance, and so that they don’t melt down and cry, riot, dress up as lady-parts, etc.
Meanwhile, this real-world problem of the failure of these clocks would suggest that additional satellites should wait until the problem is solved and replacement clocks installed before launch into orbit. Unfortunately for India, it seems that the failure of an entire satellite means that they will have to launch the replacement before this can happen.
This clock problem is serious and looks like it will be terribly expensive.
