Thailand proceeding with plan to establish its own commercial spaceport
In a follow-up to a 2025 proposal, the Thailand government is now putting together a plan to build a commercial spaceport for use by international rocket companies.
The Thai government is preparing to anchor itself in the global space race with a blueprint to develop a domestic spaceport. By deploying a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) framework, the state aims to attract international investment and ease the burden on the national budget.
The article claims Thailand’s location gives it a natural launch advantage, but the map to the right says otherwise. It has no easy clear launch path to the east (for equatorial launches) or south (for polar launches). Unless the rocket 1st stages are reusable, launches from Thailand will risk dropping stages on Indonesia, the Philippines, Laos, or Vietnam.
On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.
The print edition can be purchased at Amazon or from any other book seller. If you want an autographed copy the price is $60 for the hardback and $45 for the paperback, plus $8 shipping for each. Go here for purchasing details. The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.
The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.
"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News

Q: Everyone seems to be getting onto space, and space is getting crowded, and rockets put lots of carbon and other molecules into the atmosphere. At what point might / will the U.N. attempt to step in and take over and manage who and when there will be spaceports, satellites or moon missions?
Cotour: The UN can say whatever it wants. It has been trying to do what you fear now since the day the Outer Space Treaty was signed.
We have sovereignty however and routinely tell them to pound sand. As Rudio did yesterday to the International Criminal Court.
Also, space is not “crowded.” The fear-mongers love to make it seem so with graphics of Earth surrounded by satelites and space junk, but in truth there is plenty of room there. Space is BIG.
As a general statement space as a whole is extremely big, to the point of ridiculousness and incomprehensibility.
But if / when there are so many countries and companies trying to inhabit the immediate space surrounding the earth at what point will / might the U.N. and their agents and associates try to make an argument that, just like the International Court of Justice which is more a part of the Globalist One World Government agenda that they must run it in the interests of “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion” and concern for the climate?
Who in this area talks of such things?
You know some of they them somewhere are twisting themselves into John Roberts like pretzels to justify such a thing.

The UN is a dying institution as it has long been a dumping ground for third-world grifters and parasites and has now been irretrievably taken over by commies and jihadists. It is, without question, now an active enemy of the West in general and the US in particular, but it is also toothless. The commies and jihadists you need to worry about are not the ones at the UN, but the ones now taking over the Democratic Party.
I am thinking of the Jihadists and Commies. Eventually, lets say after the current Republican run by my calculations the next 20 years in control of the national government in Washington between Vance and Rubio clearly demonstrating their competence and strength.
It is the young idealistic and dopey “progressive” Jr. Commy infiltrators taking over the Democrat party and them stumbling into political power and control in between that concerns me. The Lefts bible and moralistic authoritarian road map is contained within and enumerated very specifically in the text of U.N. Agenda 2030, and that goal is just 3.5 years away.
U.N. Agenda 2030 is chocked full of D.E.I., disarming the people, their emotional solutions for “Justice involved Individuals” and every concept that threatens America and its Constitution specifically and the rest of the civilized world by extension.
Let’s be encouraged the Democrat Socialists continue to be more and more bold, so they continue to share what exactly is bouncing around between their ears and their plans for all.
Let the Constitution provide what it was designed to provide, free speech and the public getting to see and hear exactly what all Democrats politicians and Communists need to hide, what they intend.
The solution to the problem of the neo-Bolshevik left in this country is simply to keep them out of power to the greatest extent possible. The key to that, in turn, is to insure election integrity even in blue cities and states. This could be done as soon as later this year via an army of federal poll inspectors dispatched by Trump to problematical jurisdictions such as California and New York under authority of the Guarantee clause of the Constitution as proposed recently by the Instapundit.
As limned here recently, the modern Democratic Party consists of an Organized Crime wing that is pro forma ideological and a neo-Bolshevik wing that is fanatically ideological. The Organized Crime wing has been regnant for decades and has constructed the Deep State as well as the immense structures of public employee unions and NGOs that serve to funnel billions in tax money to Democrat coffers.
It is only by retaining power that the Democratic Party can continue to put its thumbs on so many scales. Keep them out of power for another few years and the entire edifice will crumble. The Biden family is a demonstration of this in miniature.
Keeping the Organized Criminals out of power, of course, will also keep the neo-Bolsheviks out of power as they are even less popular in the country at large than the Organized Criminals.
I could see many nations first making multiple landing areas for space craft connected to their already established airports.
It would be easy to make a hardened area for landings and still use it for normal air traffic when not being used for space craft.
Thus everyone gets a landing spot in case of future launch possibilities.
As for launch facilities it would be easier to use a floating mobile platform. Spread the cost over many small nations in the same area.
I would prefer not to have to worry about boosters landing on my head while on final. For all the objections raised, I point to Humanity’s track record concerning highly improbable events.
“Curious how often you Humans manage to obtain that which you do not want.”
Mr Spock, Errand of Mercy 1967 ST:TOG
I would guess that any incoming rockets would leave the Airport hours to redirect flights and would normally have weeks.
Even if the landing area is miles outside the Airport infrastructure they would still have to redirect flights around the area.
And do you really think their is going to be that much traffic out of that area in the next 20 years?
Its cheaper to fly to better places and take off from there, and land there.
They could build a whole Rocket industry for 15 billion or more or just make a hardened shielded landing area on an existing runway end and still use it as an over run and parking area for normal air traffic.
I would have no problems with Falcon launching from the inland United States. We have airports after all.
SuperHeavy is a different matter.
After the craft reaches orbital height everyone under it is pretty much safe.
Something like 200 miles down range would have to be clear. How many inland areas does America have that could do that?
Quite a few actually. Counting federal lands.
But for us, and fuel economy, as far south is best.
If the Thai’s launch North for polar launches, boosters might fall in China; which, really, they shouldn’t mind, at all. Gander is a dish best served comin’ in hot.
As I understand it, the potential sites they most prefer are in Chonburi and Rayong, both coastal sites just to the east of the Bangkok metroplex – apparently because the government already has the land and because it’s close to critical infrastructure. The downside to these sites is obvious, as Bob says: you could really only launch high inclination payloads, because you don’t want to be dropping stages on Cambodia!
There *is* a site down in the Kra Peninsula that is being considered, and you *could* launch to low inclination orbits from down there, in theory, lots of sea room to the east albeit in a narrow band, but the difficulty there is that they would be forced to acquire the land, and infrastructure down there is rather lacking.
So, I guess, stay tuned.
