Berkeley backs down to Coulter, partly
Fascists: The University of California-Berkeley today backed down on its demand that Ann Coulter’s speech there, scheduled for April 27, be canceled.
Instead, they offered May 2 as a new date, which it appears does not satisfy either Coulter or the college group that invited her.
But on Thursday, the university said it had found a venue where it could hold the speech on May 2, instead of the original April 27 date. However, a leader of the college Republican group that originally invited Coulter said the university was placing strict conditions on the event, and he said his group intended to reject the new terms.
Before the reversal was announced, Coulter had vowed to go ahead with an appearance anyway.
The article outlines some of the absurd conditions the university is trying to impose.
Coulter said the university insisted that her speech take place in the middle of the day, that only students could attend and that the exact venue wouldn’t be announced until the last minute. She said that she agreed with the conditions but that apparently wasn’t good enough. “They just up and announced that I was prohibited from speaking anyway,” Coulter said, noting that her speech topic was to be immigration, the subject of one of her books. “I feel like the Constitution is important and that taxpayer-supported universities should not be using public funds to violate American citizens’ constitutional rights.”
I repeat: Coulter should just come on April 27. It is not her job to cater her free speech to the university’s needs. It is their responsibility to protect her right to speak. If they can’t, then maybe their government funding should simply go away.
Readers!
My annual February birthday fund-raising drive for Behind the Black is now over. Thank you to everyone who donated or subscribed. While not a record-setter, the donations were more than sufficient and slightly above average.
As I have said many times before, I can’t express what it means to me to get such support, especially as no one is required to pay anything to read my work. Thank you all again!
For those readers who like my work here at Behind the Black and haven't contributed so far, please consider donating or subscribing. My analysis of space, politics, and culture, taken from the perspective of an historian, is almost always on the money and ahead of the game. For example, in 2020 I correctly predicted that the COVID panic was unnecessary, that the virus was apparently simply a variation of the flu, that masks were not simply pointless but if worn incorrectly were a health threat, that the lockdowns were a disaster and did nothing to stop the spread of COVID. Every one of those 2020 conclusions has turned out right.
Your help allows me to do this kind of intelligent analysis. I take no advertising or sponsors, so my reporting isn't influenced by donations by established space or drug companies. Instead, I rely entirely on donations and subscriptions from my readers, which gives me the freedom to write what I think, unencumbered by outside influences.
You can support me either by giving a one-time contribution or a regular subscription. There are four ways of doing so:
1. Zelle: This is the only internet method that charges no fees. All you have to do is use the Zelle link at your internet bank and give my name and email address (zimmerman at nasw dot org). What you donate is what I get.
2. Patreon: Go to my website there and pick one of five monthly subscription amounts, or by making a one-time donation.
3. A Paypal Donation or subscription:

Trump and his lawyers argue that protesters have no right to disrupt HIS rallies.

I have to agree, individuals have a right of free speech and to protest but that right is not absolute. Just because you choose to express yourself at a particular venue of your choosing does not mean that there will be no consequences.
If I am paying for my supporters to come to a particular venue during an election in support of my candidacy you will be ejected in as civil a way as YOU choose. If you seek to protest outside of that venue, have at it. But do not insert yourself into MY event with the intent to disrupt it and expect that you are golden. YOU ARE NOT.
I look forward for this case to go forward.
Freedom of speech is the right of every living thing… Just ask a newborn baby. It is their only method of communicating that they are uncomfortable.
The right to be heard, on the other hand, you must pay advertising costs. Those who try to exercise their freedom of speech on someone else’s dime is the same as theft and be should be charged with such.
A baby will cry just to be “heard” so that they may be comforted, sometimes a mother will just shut the door blocking off the privilege to be heard so the baby can cry themselves to sleep.
Parents send their crying children to college to learn the skills to communicate effectively and responsibly. Those who are not taught this skill should hold the University responsible and demand their money back.
The University becomes in part responsible for anti-social behavior if they allow such conduct continue in their purview. Just as MIT takes credit for successful engineers and scientists, social engineering universities should take credit and responsibility for the criminals they produce. even if it’s only to teach prison life classes to activist students to survive state and federal penitentiary’s for the anti-social skills they learned in a very bad college.
The irony of rioters calling others fascist is just too much. The best thing to do is give them exactly what they’re asking for… to be physically removed from polite civil society.
I say we keep most of the illegals and get rid of them (Not to be confused with endorsing illegal immigrants.)
This is how ridiculous and personally a threat to us all.

Understanding the details and intricacies of what a person’s life or an organization’s motivation’s is a false argument. Its like understanding the entire intricate details of someone’s life who brutally murders or sexually abuses someone else because they were in fact brutalized by their father or uncle. Understanding what might drive someone to commit such offences to humanity might be clinically interesting, but that is not a motivation through “compassion” to release them once again into society where they are likely to do the same exact thing.
A prime example: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In_the_Belly_of_the_Beast
Understanding someone’s motivation of why they are outraged and why they kill is no reason for a totally dissimilar society to self suicide. We are all waiters and these morons want to empower and invite to live amongst us millions of Jack Henry Abbots out of some politically based and misplaced sense of justice.
It don’t get any more stupid than that, the one does not solve the other.
I say the biker solution is best. A couple of hundred of them showing up to peacefully support Coulter and everything will be OK in Berkely. Peaceful, reasonable strength, just like strong, reasonable leadership is always the way to go.
In addition, if the French do not make a very strong statement in their up coming elections for the president I suggest they all seriously begin making plans to leave their own home country, all is lost.

When your own government refuses to protect you you must take extreme measures, something. When your own government is willing to accept terror by a specffic identifiable group of people as a regular part of everyone’s day, that is tooo much and the only solution is to either take back your country from those who would destroy you, or leave!
Ah, Thomas Sowel, there is hope.
