Timestorm Films – Nox Atacama
An evening pause: From the youtube website:
The Atacama desert is home to the darkest and cleanest skies in the world. …The environment is harsh though. Filmed in freezing temperatures, altitudes up to 5000m/16000ft, salt lakes and icy slopes, the Atacama is not friendly to life and equipment.
Hat tip Willi Kusche.
On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.
The print edition can be purchased at Amazon. from any other book seller, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.
The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.
"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News
Great movies. Know the basics but do not have the inkling to go that mile in photography.
Beautiful. My wife is from that part of Chile. A few minutes outside the city center the stars are amazing. We go down once or twice a year. I need to learn how to take pictures of the night sky.
I had no idea there was any vegetation at all in the Altacama desert, much less a body of water. This is the most breathtakingly beautiful video I’ve ever watched on YouTube. Thank you, Willi Kushche (and Bob) for sharing this.
I had the exact same reaction as danae, breathtakingly beautiful indeed!!
Also, it reminds me of those videos they play on TVs that are on display at Best Buy and Costco.
Yes– outstandingly beautiful!
Good one, Willi!
Phill- it takes a lot of processing power!

“The film was shot on Canon 5DSR & 5DIII cameras & lenses sponsored by Canon USA, aided by Alpine Labs’ Michron, powered by Paul C. Buff Vagabond Mini. LRTimelapse was used to process some of the shots.”
(The same guy, Harun Mehmedinovic, has excellent film in the same vain, of Route 66 in the Mojave Desert, and of fireflies in the Great Smokey Mountains National Park.)
