Readers! A November fund-raising drive!

It is unfortunately time for another November fund-raising campaign to support my work here at Behind the Black. I really dislike doing these, but 2025 is so far turning out to be a very poor year for donations and subscriptions, the worst since 2020. I very much need your support for this webpage to survive.

And I think I provide real value. Fifteen years ago I said SLS was garbage and should be cancelled. Almost a decade ago I said Orion was a lie and a bad idea. As early as 1998, long before almost anyone else, I predicted in my first book, Genesis: The Story of Apollo 8, that private enterprise and freedom would conquer the solar system, not government. Very early in the COVID panic and continuing throughout I noted that every policy put forth by the government (masks, social distancing, lockdowns, jab mandates) was wrong, misguided, and did more harm than good. In planetary science, while everyone else in the media still thinks Mars has no water, I have been reporting the real results from the orbiters now for more than five years, that Mars is in fact a planet largely covered with ice.

I could continue with numerous other examples. If you want to know what others will discover a decade hence, read what I write here at Behind the Black. And if you read my most recent book, Conscious Choice, you will find out what is going to happen in space in the next century.

This last claim might sound like hubris on my part, but I base it on my overall track record.

So please consider donating or subscribing to Behind the Black, either by giving a one-time contribution or a regular subscription. I could really use the support at this time. There are five ways of doing so:

1. Zelle: This is the only internet method that charges no fees. All you have to do is use the Zelle link at your internet bank and give my name and email address (zimmerman at nasw dot org). What you donate is what I get.

2. Patreon: Go to my website there and pick one of five monthly subscription amounts, or by making a one-time donation. Takes about a 10% cut.

3. A Paypal Donation or subscription, which takes about a 15% cut:

4. Donate by check. I get whatever you donate. Make the check payable to Robert Zimmerman and mail it to

On the radio

For those that wish to listen to me talk about this weekend’s success by SpaceX, I am right now going on the air with Robert Pratt on Pratt on Texas, aired on 790-AM KFYO in Lubbock, 1470-AM KYYW in Abilene, and 1290-AM KWFS in Wichita Falls.

Genesis cover

On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.

The print edition can be purchased at Amazon or from any other book seller. If you want an autographed copy the price is $60 for the hardback and $45 for the paperback, plus $8 shipping for each. Go here for purchasing details. The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.

The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.

"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News

And we who live on patches of the Earth that are not covered by radio transmissions in Lubbock, Abilene or Wichita Falls remain none the wiser. (Why not simply online it all?)

President Trump just held a short efficient speech declaring Antifa terrorists and that he will uphold law and order with federal troops if the governors don’t do it with their national guards already. Then he walks across the street to a church that has been vandalized, holding a Bible. (Anywhere in Europe this would be fantastic)

Then Fox News asks Karl Rove what he thinks about it!!
You gotta reform your news services over there. This is not good enough.

  • Robert Pratt

The show us streamed by all affiliates, very common these days.

    Local Fluff:

You are correct, not good enough.

But this chaos once again is an indicator of just how threatening the Trump presidency is to the Lefts efforts of the past 30 to 50 years in America and the world. And there can be no question about where ultimately this issue will be decided. The Democrats and the Left squirm as they are revealed for what they now are, un and anti American and destroyers of the Constitution.

So this will probably get much worse before it gets better.

I’ve read enough ancient European history to realize that Trump will proclaim himself King of America after he has been re-elected. Ivanka will be very very happy, although she’ll have to wait for 30 years or so. This is how things go. It is no different now from how politics thousands of years ago.

The argument will go: This is the King. And that is not the King. And everyone will be content with that. Because it’s the King. Trump will tell Boris:
    “- Gimme your K!”
“- But, then we only have the U left. And I have to ask the Kueen and her mannerless children.”
“-Deal with it! Or you will get the status of a mayor in Puerto Rico.
(Is there something wrong with my sound powers, that makes my match players here not understanding my obvious will and purpose?)”

    Local Fluff:

You usually have a rational argument, this is America, what you propose will not happen.

Why? Because the president and the people who surround him and the American people are dedicated to the Constitution and what it proposes and enshrines. This is not Venezaula, this is not Russia, this is not the Roman Empire.

And Trump is not a Liberal Democrat / Leftist.

  • Cotour

PS: And the American military is dedicated to and swears an oath to the Constitution, and that is where the rubber meets the road.

I am sorry, maybe there was some form of humor there that was not making it through translation… but I really could not follow that.

Trump is superiourly intelligent and realizes that only He can save America. So he will take himself the powers to do so. This is not a guy that just pretends to be a politician. The media aren’t exactly treating him like the Playboy cover girl. To him there’s nothing to it but power and results.

The fanaticism of the left has opened the door for him to dictatorship. The constipation isn’t followed anyway, so what do have to lose? His opponents are all very stupid and incapable. What man in his position would not take the opportunity to change the course of history?
