Rodney Dangerfield on the Tonight Show
An evening pause: From 1974. His humor is funny because it is entirely silly. If for one second you try to take anything he says with any seriousness at all, you will have no fun.
On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.
The print edition can be purchased at Amazon. from any other book seller, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.
The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.
"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News
Great stuff! I never missed The Tonight Show back in those days. Now I’m in bed by 10. :)
“Back To School” (1986 Metter Orion Pictures). I’ll watch this every 3 – 4 years, and as an ‘older student’ during my college days; appreciate it all the more.
“Doesn’t weigh enough for an ‘A’; maybe a ‘B’.”
The movie gets 86% on Rotten Tomatoes, which is fair enough, but only 6.6 on IMDb. Reinforcing my belief that ‘IMDb” is an acronym for ‘I aM Dumb”.
Blair-
That is a fairly good movie!
My favorite scene in “Back to School” is when Melon hires Kurt Vonnegut to do his book report on Kurt’s own book and gets an ‘F’ grade from the professor.
Jay-
wow….totally forgot that Vonnegut appearance!
Sam Kinison as the History Prof is hilarious as well.
Ah Rodney, one of the classics.
I heard Carson really liked him and used to hang out at Dangerfields when in NY.
Rodney was also known to help out other comedians when they were having hard times.
But man, those 70’s styles – what the heck is Carson wearing? – even the desk looks bizarre!
I remember the Chuck Wagon and ALPO commercials. My parents like Hee Haw.
Ugh
So, who used to stay up late and watch Tomorrow with Tom Snyder?
