SpaceX launches another 53 Starlink satellites
Capitalism in space: SpaceX tonight successfully used its Falcon 9 rocket to launch another 53 Starlink satellites into orbit.
The first stage completed its 12th flight, a new record. The fairings were also reused, one half for the fourth time and the other for the second time. SpaceX continues to maintain a one launch per week schedule in 2022.
At posting the upper stage still had one more engine burn to insert itself into the final orbit, followed by satellite deployment.
The leaders in the 2022 launch race:
11 SpaceX
6 China
3 Russia
2 ULA
The U.S. now leads China 17 to 6 in the national rankings.
On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.
The print edition can be purchased at Amazon. from any other book seller, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit.
The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.
The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.
"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News

Not again!!!!!!!!!
This is getting to be a weekly thing
Geez, Global Space Industry, what part of ‘reusable’ don’t you get?
I can’t wait for the first orbital starship launch. At this point it seems like spacex is basically competing against itself.
Rideshare on Starship will be a madhouse. Potentially ~1000 small payloads every week. Universities will have to up their production game (fortunately, grad-student labor is available).
Keep on launching them! I have my Starlink Dish and I am happy with the speed of connection. No more watching the Usage-Meter with the old provider.
Good on SpaceX … they may need even more, since those already operational may be targeted now … though that is a LOT of targets.

(Unfortunately, behind a paywall.)
Begun, the drone wars have … (cue Vader theme music) …
There was no audible countdown of the final ten seconds. First time?
Ram it down Rogozin’s throat, Elon. You’re the future, he’s already the past
Just read that thanks to Elon and Starlink, Ukrainian drone operators are waxing the Russians while they sleep.
First report I’ve seen of it, so it hasn’t been verified yet but that should also speak to how fast the speeds are!
You’re not flying a night vision equipped drone carrying ordinance with a 56K modem speed.
I just saw this today, SpaceX will be launching the OneWeb satellites.
Elon, we’ve talked about this before, it really has to end
