Six questions too many Democrats refuse to answer

The Democratic Party: What does it really believe in?
The Democratic Party: What does it really believe in?

Today at the Washington Examiner journalist Elizabeth Stauffer has written a fine essay describing in general terms the inability of Democrats to discuss the issues today with any rationality.

The Democrats have settled upon their 2024 campaign message: “Former President Donald Trump poses a threat to democracy and must be stopped. He has openly admitted he will become a dictator on day one.”

Liberals make these statements about Trump and so-called MAGA Republican “extremists” because they know if they are repeated enough, they will stick. And they’re right. No evidence is required because the Democrats know they will never be called upon to support their claims by their comrades.

When questioned by conservatives, however, they simply hold fast to their lies.

Democrat Congressman Dean Phillips (D-Minnesota) — who is also running for the Democratic Party nonimation for President and got 21% of the vote in New Hampshire yesterday — put it more bluntly on January 22, 2024 on CNN:

“My party is completely delusional right now.”

Stauffer then lists six questions that every Democrat should be repeatedly challenged to answer, as follows:

  • How exactly does Trump pose a threat to democracy?
  • Why, specifically, do you hate Trump?
  • Can you name three accomplishments of the Biden administration?
  • Do you honestly believe Biden is mentally competent?
  • Are you proud of Biden on the global stage
  • And finally, are you better off now than you were three years ago?

In each case, she lays out specific facts that demonstrate how indefensible almost all present Democratic Party talking points are, especially those that try to make Donald Trump the next version of Adolf Hitler and Joe Biden the most successful president since Abraham Lincoln. (Neither is a saint, but this vision of America that the Democratic Party and its minions in the press put forth is, as Phillips notes, “completely delusional.”)

In laying out these questions, Stauffer has a specific goal. She wants ordinary Democrats to realize how much a failure the party they support has become.

Pin them down. Question their “facts.” Force them to explain themselves. Be the 3-year-old in the room who never stops asking why.

Sadly, I have come to the conclusion that this effort — when put to too many loyal Democratic Party voters — will be an utter waste of time. In my almost 71 years on this Earth I have yet to come across any partisan Democrat willing to discuss anything with the slightest willingness to recognize that their faith in that party might possibly be wrong, and that Republicans might actually offer an alternative perspective. You can’t hold an intelligent conversation with them because these partisans have an inability to ever ask, “Is it possible I may be mistaken?”

Adam Schiff

To them, they and the politicians they support are always right, no matter what. Congressman Adam Schiff (D-California) can appear on television for years, claiming that he has solid and concrete evidence that Trump colluded with the Russians to win the 2016 elections, but even when numerous investigations prove him him not only wrong, but actually perpetrating a hoax by lying every single time, both he and his partisan supporters will still think him right. “Adam Schiff said it! He’s a Democrat! It must be true!”

Think I am exaggerating? Note that Adam Schiff is presently leading the polls in California for the Senate. It appears that a very large number of Democrats are quite willing to ignore his years of lying. They are certain he was right, even though he was utterly wrong.

This certainty makes debate with them impossible. It also tells us why we should be very afraid of them. When someone thinks they have a direct phone line to God, and everything they do and say is always correct and that anyone that disagrees with them is thus no different than the devil, then they have given themselves the right and the power to act like God. It permits them to commit any evil act they can conceive, because their cause is always just and right.

Being afraid however does not mean we should bow to them. Just the opposite. In this Stauffer is wrong. The time for debating these close-minded Democrats is long past. Americans of good will and decency must now stand up to these mindless thugs and simply defy them (as it appears Texas governor Greg Abbott is doing right now in opposition to Biden’s open border policies). State the truth boldly, and ignore their whining and screaming and temper tantrums. It will do no good to try to talk to them. Better to work to convince the many Americans who are as yet unsure about where they stand.

And if you happen to be one of those unsure and wavering Americans who in the past had voted Democrat routinely (such as almost all my Jewish relatives and friends), maybe you also should ask yourself, “Is it possible I might be mistaken?”

Asking that question is always healthy. I do it all the time. It engenders good critical thinking. It makes you humble. And above all, it helps you get closer to the truth. And sadly that last goal has not been the goal of too many Americans for far too long.

Genesis cover

On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.

The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.

The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.

"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News

  • Well, you can see how the RINO’s, and the Democrats rationally and fully represent themselves right here on BTB. It really is quite stellar they put everyone in their place and really give you pause to reconsider your political philosophy and positions. Very strong.

You know, right here on BTB.

Like DM, Lee S and so many others who’s handles I have forgotten because they represented themselves so well.

You know, very strong and honest.

I think they like Schiff BECAUSE he’s a liar. I think they see it completely different than civil people see it. He’s a warrior of their tribe doing battle against an enemy tribe. Pure tribalism.

  • The Constitution structures in the political arena both sides to present themselves and it gives both sides all the rope that they need to hang themselves.

    What is the purpose?

So that in time the people be informed to some great degree as to what the truth is so THEY can direct their government and country.

And that is why politicians are always lying, they essentially have a license to lie. All in the long-term effort that the people be informed.

Adam Shiff is a liar among liars, and so the people will judge if he has lied well, or they see him as a threat to their long-term freedom and the country.

For the most part politicians and government has had little to do with telling the truth.

Not their job, decerning truth is the people’s job.

    Tribal? Very.

Some more pithy questions to ask Democrats —

    • Do you believe that the federal government should control the southern border at all?
    • Do you know any Trump supporters in your personal life?
    • Are you aware that Hamas has consistently called for the destruction of Israel?

  • Calvin Dodge

It’s ironic that my governor (Abbott) is the first one to stand up to Biden.

  • James Street

I think I’m the only one worried about the national debt. It’s gone up $11 trillion in the last 4 years from $23 trillion in 2019 to $34 trillion today.

“US Debt Hits A Record $34.001 Trillion”
“Some context: US debt increased by…
$1 trillion in the past 3 months
$2 trillion in the past 6 months
$4 trillion in the past 2 years
$11 trillion in the past 4 years”
    https://www.zerohedge.com/markets/us-debt-hits-record-34001-trillion

  • James Street: You are not the only one worried about our debt. For myself I’ve simply grown tied of noting it over and over again, without getting any reaction. It is one of the reasons I am pessimistic about the future. It is not simply the oppressive blacklisting culture of the left that Americans refuse to come to grips with, it is the out-of-control government and Congress (both parties) that is spending us to oblivion.

  • First you must raze what is in order to build anew.

    Hey you guys,

check this out. it might be pertinent to this discussion

“How to thwart the nefarious propaganda technique of projection”.

You can google it and it ought to be there. That is, until it isn’t anymore. lol

  • Greg M:

    Are you now using projection?

  • Concerned

    Greg M: Excellent article reference.

Key quote: To thwart this, stay aware that many people have no moral restraints against projecting, curb your own confirmation biases, don’t jump to conclusions about other’s intentions, master research skills, and share your findings as broadly as possible.

The other excellent example given in the article is the false flag operation by the Nazis on their own radio station at the Polish border just prior to their 1939 invasion.

The obvious modern example right at home is the J6 fedsurrection. The finally released videos and Darren Beattie’s revelations (revolver.news) about the fake pipe bombs show how our own government is projecting their actions on DJT.

  • And as for Adam Schiff he really is not a pathological liar. Adam Shiff is but a “Good Soldier” doing what must be done and taking care of business:

    https://www.sigma3ioc.com/post/the-good-soldier-taking-care-of-business

And there is a long list of front line “Good Soldiers”: Dan Goldman, Fani Willis, Leticia James, Jamie Raskin, Swallowell, AOC, Nancy Pelosi, Alvin Bragg, E. Jean Carrol, Christien Blassey Ford, Antia Hill and the political narrative megaphone agenda enforcer list goes on.

    https://www.sigma3ioc.com/post/the-good-soldier-taking-care-of-business

These are but the front-line soldiers fighting the fight and taking care of their party business.

    Nothing more nothing less.

And their weapons and their ammunition? Narratives, words and sentences structured to influence and paint a righteous, moral and party narrative line in the minds of the mass of the population.

All such operations must employ lies and falsehoods and dis and misinformation. Why? Because they have to, it is what they are there to do.

And the Constitution structures the environment for this all to happen for one theoretical reason by design, so that the people when all the lies have been told they can decide who poses the greatest threat to them, their families and their freedom.

The construct of the Constitution is unique in this manner and there is nothing on earth that says that it must remain in place.

And that end goal, eliminating it, is really what those, especially on the Left now radical Left seek.

Does not get any simpler than that.

And the only answer? To beat them en masse and in an overwhelming manner. That is the only way.

And we wait to see who will prevail. Stand by.

  • And “Good Soldiers” must communicate and or meet with their generals, so they are all on the same strategic page. And most of this stuff is mutually understood. But sometimes orders must be indicated.

    https://youtu.be/v3_Fwv3cJu8?si=qEKEO6jkOFJWDIGC

And if the people are paying attention they will act.

    That is the theory anyway.

I usually appreciate Lee S’s comments. I rarely agree with them, but I like his not-US left perspective.

Speaking of which, I recently noticed (it’s been going on for a while, I’m just not all that perceptive) that both Europe and the US are suffering from “right wing extremists” – even though “right” means drastically different things in Europe than it does here.

  • Concerned

Cotour: Your observation about the Godless Left’s desire to get rid of the Constitution was recognized from the very start:

….. because we have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry, would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.

(TO THE OFFICERS OF THE FIRST BRIGADE OF THE THIRD DIVISION OF THE MILITIA OF MASSACHUSETTS, 11 October, 1798)

    Projection has two occupancies
First is as described here as a tool consciously used to deceive and or sway opinions. Mr Schiff is of this ilk
The second is the psychological phenomenon that is unconscious.

One other point in all of this is role of our main stream media. Once again I see both parts of projection happening there.

  • Chris

    Occupancies = occurrences

    From the article:
Conservatives, on the other hand, are generally well armed with the facts. They need to be because it’s not a level playing field.

Except that Democrats do not care about facts. They don’t care about reality but run on feelings. People who depend upon facts tend to be self sufficient, so they are attracted to conservative principles. People who are emotional tend to still depend on parental guidance, so they are attracted to others to control their actions, the Democrat Party believes in this principle. People who say that they want higher cigarette taxes to help them get off cigarettes are these kinds of people. The other people attracted to the Democrat Party are those who want the power to control other people. Between these two groups, both are perfectly satisfied. The moms and dads get to control their emotionally three-year-old constituents, and the emotionally three-year-olds have a mom and pop to take care of them. Changing this relationship frightens both groups, and they reject any attempt to make these changes and reject any argument that this relationship should be changed. In fact, changing this relationship could be said to be undemocratic and that being against Trump is being in favor of democracy.

It is why Churchill suggested that 20-year-olds were emotional (have a heart) and 40-year-olds were smart. 20-year-olds are still getting over leaving the safety and comfort of the nest, and 40-year-olds have figured out how to live independently.

Arguing facts does not work, because they don’t care about facts, they care about their own emotions and their own feelings, as in, “if it feels good, do it.”

If they are mistaken, they will feel bad, therefore, they are never mistaken. Ever. Even when the facts prove them wrong, they reject the facts so that they may continue to live mistake-free.

Robert wrote: “You can’t hold an intelligent conversation with them because these partisans have an inability to ever ask, ‘Is it possible I may be mistaken?’

Of course they cannot ask that question. By their nature, they are absolutely positive that their solutions work, and if these solutions don’t show signs of progress, it is because not enough solution has yet been applied. This is why Keynesian Economics keeps being tried again and again and keeps failing. Keynesian Economics cannot work, because* it requires removing money from the economy and processing it through the government, which is supposed to make the economy grow, but in reality it stifles economic growth that would have happened with that money had it remained in the economy. It reduces the productivity by the same amount, because instead of being productive to receive that money, the recipients get it for being unproductive. In addition, it reduces the incentive to add to the nation’s productivity, as it is easier to stay at home and play X-Box.

No wonder Obama’s extremely expensive version of Keynesian Economics failed so badly. Previous attempts failed, leading Obama to try a much greater version with almost a trillion dollars under his stimulus program. The Keynesian solution must be correct, and since a little didn’t work, more must be applied. With interest rates near 0% — for years! — the economy should haveBOOMED to life in ways that would have made the 1980s and the 1920s seem anemic. Instead, the high cost of Keynesian Economics killed the growth that should have been.

Applying more solution is reminiscent of their philosophy that marxism works, that the reason it hasn’t worked yet is that the right people haven’t worked it, so far. This is similar to their other excuse that marxism hasn’t been done right, so far. Marxism is a philosophy in which government takes care of its population as though they are children unable to live their own lives.

In contrast, free market capitalism does not depend upon the right people or correct application, as evidenced by the billion people brought out of poverty due to the socialist India and the communist China merely moving in the direction of free market capitalism. The wrong people are applying it poorly, yet a billion people are no longer impoverished. Imagine how many people would be brought out of poverty if these two nations fully embraced it.

The Democrats’ welfare program has only made a permanent poverty class, with multiple generations living on welfare. It was sold to us as a safety net, but people are lazing about in it like a hammock on a summer day, complete with someone supplying food and drink. Plus, they get to play X-Box all day, so why get out of the hammock — er — welfare safety net?

Creating a national Department of Education created conflicts that ruined education throughout the country. Another failure of central control. But the Democrats truly believe that the solution is government-run schools with union teachers, so they work hard to keep it from shrinking in size. No vouchers for alternative schools, and home schooling is right out.

Everything Democrats touch does not turn to gold but turns to [stuff]. And they are too emotional about their love of their various solutions to see it. They just aren’t smart enough to admit it. They are not mature enough to consider that some other way may work. What is worse, when Trump suggests doing something the way Democrats have done it forever, the Democrats are so immature that they declare that way to be absolutely wrong.

Yet they don’t admit to mistake, as they don’t admit that they ever accepted Trump’s way in the first place.

‘Is it possible I might be mistaken?’ Asking that question is always healthy. I do it all the time. It engenders good critical thinking. It makes you humble. And above all, it helps you get closer to the truth.

I ask that question often. It leads to research to seek the truth. It has changed some comments that I have made here and stopped me from posting others, because I have found that I was mistaken. I’ve been wrong before, and I’ll be wrong again; it doesn’t scare me, but I ponder the possibility anyway.

    Concerned,
The quote you referenced certainly explains why the immoral Democrats so easily violate the Constitution and civilized behaviors. The mostly violent riots of the summer of 2020 are good examples of human passions unbridled by morality or religion.

    * There are additional reasons that Keynesian Economics cannot work, including that demand-side economics is supposed to increase demand, which just increases prices, reducing the demand that it was supposed to create. The demand fails to result in as much increase in supply as Keynes expected, because the people who were supposed to be hired to produce that increased supply are sitting at home playing X-Box. For Keynesian solutions that use government-hires to avoid the X-Box problem, those government hires dig ditches only to fill them in again, and they are not available to be hired by industry to produce the increased supply that Keynes expected.

Keynes was supposed to be a brilliant economist, but he didn’t even understand third-grade economics.
