Computer modelers predict millions will die if China relaxes its zero COVID lockdowns policy
Chicken Little rules again! Scientists, using the same kind of faulty computer models that falsely predicted millions would die in 2020 if we didn’t social distance, wear masks, and shut down all of society (while canceling the Bill of Rights), now predict millions will die in China if that country’s totalitarian communist government relaxes its zero COVID lockdowns policy.
A study based on vaccination rates in March, published in Nature Medicine in May, found that lifting zero-COVID restrictions at that point could “generate a tsunami of COVID-19 cases” over a 6-month period, with 112 million symptomatic cases, 2.7 million intensive care unit (ICU) admissions, and 1.6 million deaths. Peak demand for ICU beds would hit 1 million, more than 15 times the current capacity.
The unvaccinated would account for 77% of the fatalities, according to the authors, primarily at Fudan University. Boosting vaccination rates could slash the toll, but China’s elderly population has remained wary of vaccination. Even today, only 66% of those ages 80 and older have received two doses—versus 90% of the population as a whole—and just 40% have taken boosters.
We of course should trust these scientists without question. How could they possibly be wrong? Bless their hearts. They would never produce junk models simply to promote government overreach and abuse of power.

Covid is much less lethal now than it was two years ago, it has mutated into a less lethal strain. This is absurd!
And the ChiComs will use this “scientific proof” to justify their brutal “No Covid” policies among other repressions. How much were these “scientists” paid to come up with these results?

It is obviously too much to hope for competent people in much of government, but people like Musk plus thousands of people at lower levels talking about sane energy policy is helpful.

Friends of mine will tell you that in spring 2020 I conjectured that China may have created the Wuhan virus to actually target their elderly. I still think this is a possibility. China faces a demographic tsunami with their population’s age. After 35 years of the One-Child Policy the birth rate crashed. Soon China will face demographics such as Japan’s without Japan’s ability to service its aged population. This will cause great strain in the population…..However, if a tragic pandemic were to come forth and remove that burden or at least some of it, China would be much more nimble and better able to look outside its borders.
This is conjecture on my part but it fits somewhat. And after such a horrific loss of the elderly population the call for control in the name of stopping the spread could possibly be more accepted.
I have heard several annalists state that demographics are an important driver in China. It could very well limit their time to act on Taiwan (along with the presidency of Joe Biden). There may have been many motives in the development of the Wuhan Flu a.k.a COVID.
