Readers! A November fund-raising drive!

It is unfortunately time for another November fund-raising campaign to support my work here at Behind the Black. I really dislike doing these, but 2025 is so far turning out to be a very poor year for donations and subscriptions, the worst since 2020. I very much need your support for this webpage to survive.

And I think I provide real value. Fifteen years ago I said SLS was garbage and should be cancelled. Almost a decade ago I said Orion was a lie and a bad idea. As early as 1998, long before almost anyone else, I predicted in my first book, Genesis: The Story of Apollo 8, that private enterprise and freedom would conquer the solar system, not government. Very early in the COVID panic and continuing throughout I noted that every policy put forth by the government (masks, social distancing, lockdowns, jab mandates) was wrong, misguided, and did more harm than good. In planetary science, while everyone else in the media still thinks Mars has no water, I have been reporting the real results from the orbiters now for more than five years, that Mars is in fact a planet largely covered with ice.

I could continue with numerous other examples. If you want to know what others will discover a decade hence, read what I write here at Behind the Black. And if you read my most recent book, Conscious Choice, you will find out what is going to happen in space in the next century.

This last claim might sound like hubris on my part, but I base it on my overall track record.

So please consider donating or subscribing to Behind the Black, either by giving a one-time contribution or a regular subscription. I could really use the support at this time. There are five ways of doing so:

1. Zelle: This is the only internet method that charges no fees. All you have to do is use the Zelle link at your internet bank and give my name and email address (zimmerman at nasw dot org). What you donate is what I get.

2. Patreon: Go to my website there and pick one of five monthly subscription amounts, or by making a one-time donation. Takes about a 10% cut.

3. A Paypal Donation or subscription, which takes about a 15% cut:

4. Donate by check. I get whatever you donate. Make the check payable to Robert Zimmerman and mail it to

The Treasury Inspector General has found that the IRS cannot account for $67 million of Obamacare funds.

We’ve only just begun: The Treasury Inspector General has found that the IRS cannot account for $67 million of Obamacare funds.

he “Health Insurance Reform Implementation Fund” (HIRIF) was tucked into Obamacare in order to give the IRS money to enforce the tax provisions of the healthcare law. The fund, totaling some $1 billion of taxpayer money, was used to roll out enforcement mechanisms for the approximately 50 tax provisions of Obamacare. According to the report: “Specifically, the IRS did not account for or attempt to quantify approximately $67 million [from the slush fund] of indirect ACA costs incurred for Fiscal Years 2010 through 2012.”

The report also found other spending abuses, including using the money for travel that was unjustified.

But everything’s under control. The Democratic Party will make sure Obamacare is funded, no matter what!

Genesis cover

On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.

The print edition can be purchased at Amazon or from any other book seller. If you want an autographed copy the price is $60 for the hardback and $45 for the paperback, plus $8 shipping for each. Go here for purchasing details. The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.

The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.

"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News

I was able to listen to several hours of Ted Cruz, yesterday and then as he finished this morning. I have to say that he performed brilliantly in illustrating how his fellow Republicans, through their fear and possibly their philosophy to control the American people, are willing to abandon their responsibilities to the Constitution and the people who they represent in allowing this Obamination to be funded. Mr. Cruz has now distinguished himself as a Constitutionally based candidate for president in my opinion. Do you know how I know that? All of the entrenched politicians in both party’s and most of the corporate talking heads in the media have condemned or are making fun of him, trying to diminish him.

I also listened to Senator John McCain comment on Mr. Cruz’s efforts, is it me or does that man have to either retire or change his political affiliation?

$67 million doesn’t just disappear. This is serious corruption and exactly why slush funds are never a good idea.

You are dead-on. Cruz was indeed brilliant through that marathon session. He shredded Dick Durbin’s attempt to disparage him. He was also unfailingly civil and polite to everyone. He never criticized anyone personally. And he displayed a speaking ability that puts the current White House occupant to shame. After this, regardless of what Congress does with Obamacare, Ted Cruz — educated at Princeton and Harvard Law and a veteran of arguing cases before the U.S. Supreme Court — must now be considered the leading contender for president in 2016.

That is a drop in the bucket. One of the dirty big secrets of this administration — and its Democrat associates in Congress — and the weak and spineless Republicans — is that Obama has had an $800 billion slushfund at his disposal every year since his election. How? Remember the “Stimulus” he persuaded Congress to pass in 2009? That was $800 billion, ostensibly for infrastructure repairs and upgrading — to create jobs. Now, ever since 2009, Congress has failed to produce a Budget of the United States Government. Instead, under Harry Reid’s little iron fist, the Senate has insisted on passing continuing resolutions. In other words, that 2009 budget, including the stimulus, has been repeated ever since.

So, where has that $800 billion sum gone each year? Not to building new roads and bridges and schools and hospitals and maintaining our national parks. No. That money has gone almost exclusively to funding public union salaries and pensions — a nice chuck of which is returned to the Democratic Party in the form of campaign contributions. And the administration has been deft at rewarding friends and punishing enemies with it. Why not? It is the biggest scam in the history of the country, if not the world.

Someday — and I hope someday soon — a truly determined, courageous and honest office-holder such as Ted Cruz, a former prosecutor, will dig deeply into this monstrous misuse of taxpayer dollars and punish those responsible, even if that means prosecuting a former president.

Yes to everything that has been said.

I believe we have just begun to hear from Ted Cruz.

Go read MEDIAITE today, and it will reveal the one politicians that is truly feared by most politicians and most media talking heads because he dares to threaten the status quo. What seems to be the status quo? Lead the people of America down the garden path to socialism. And socialism is about a perverted level of governmental control of a free people.

Keep this in mind, ALL empowered politicians are the enemy of the peoples freedom. ALL of them, party affiliation aside. And THAT is exactly the reason that the Constitution was written to counter balance that nature of the human being.
