Please consider supporting my work here at Behind the Black. I keep the website clean from pop-ups and annoying demands. Instead, I depend entirely on my readers to support me. Though this means I am sacrificing some income, it also means that I remain entirely independent from outside pressure. By depending solely on donations and subscriptions from my readers, no one can threaten me with censorship. You don't like what I write, you can simply go elsewhere.

You can support me either by giving a one-time contribution or a regular subscription. There are five ways of doing so:

To the horror of global warming alarmists, the climate refuses to warm.

To the horror of global warming alarmists, the climate refuses to warm.

For those who are regular readers here at Behind the Black, none of the data described by Peter Ferrara in this article will be a surprise. I have been reporting these facts for years. However, the article provides a nice outline of what we know, and includes this sentence near the end that sums up the true problem we face:

Has there ever in history been such an almighty disconnect between observable reality and the delusions of a political class that is quite impervious to any rational discussion?

Genesis cover

On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.

The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.

The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.

"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News

A methodical and rational explanation of current climate conditions. I wish, however, that the author would have refrained from the pejoratives he uses to describe AGW advocates. It’s the same tactic they use when describing scientists whose work or data don’t conform to the orthodoxy.

Mr. Zimmerman, I know you are loath to post such things as articles on technology such as the E-Cat but I think these new independent tests reveal that there is something there there. I am also confident that they have no idea what exactly is going on within the device but it does appear that there is a measurable amount of electrical energy going in and as counter intuitive as it is that appreciable more energy is being produced in the form of heat.

You can find some information at a site PESN.com who looks at a bunch of different “technologies”, the E-Cat seems to be the most demonstrable of them all and it appears that it will be available to the public in the near future. (barring any unfortunate misplacing of the plans and the continued good health of Mr. Rossi. We all know how dangerous the world can be.)

The debate about whether or not Andrea Rossi’s E-Cat technology really works should be quieting now, with a very readable, definitive third-party test report having been released today, stating that at the most conservative, the Hot-Cat technology showed at least a ten-fold increase in power density over what could possibly have been ascribed to any presently-known chemical processes.

The long-awaited, third-party report on the E-Cat is a single report, but the report offers two independent studies carried out in December 13-17, 2012 and March 18-23, 2013 in Andrea Rossi’s premises in the city of Ferrara in Italy, without the inventor’s involvement.

  • I’ve read these new reports and was very tempted to post. However, I am very much bothered by the inability of independent researchers to study the innards of the E-Cat. I realize that proprietary rights sometimes rule, but there is a thing called a contract that could protect Rossi’s rights while allowing independent researchers full access. That he has not allowed this leaves me suspicious.

I appreciate your apprehension and point but the numbers appear to be off the charts (and I don’t believe they really know what’s going on within this particular phenomenon). What ever the “innards” are they appear to be producing nothing that a chemical reaction could possibly sustain if some misdirection was going on. The fact that a third party has done the tests is very encouraging even if they were not allowed to see what’s really inside.

I think we can agree that if it is what it is advertised to be the implications are both wonderful and terrifying, depending on your view. I look forward to you coming to a conclusion and posting on the subject, maybe Rossi would be interested in you viewing a demonstration.

  • You might have noticed that I rewrote the headline, taking out the reference to “global cooling”, as we really don’t know if that is happening either.

  • It’s not producing more power than could be pulled from a power plug, and the investigators have been prohibited from unplugging it. That’s pretty shifty.

My personal opinion is that I wouldn’t care what anyone thought if I had such a device as Rossi’s claims E-Cat to be. I’d be setting up a “factory” where I claim to be making “solar panels” with a new process that uses a whole lot of nickel, to build my own solar farm, when actually my solar farm is nothing more than shade cloth and I’m actually generating power by turning nickel into copper. Also, I’d be selling copper.

Wait a minute! Nickel $6.73/lb. Copper $3.31/lb. Wholesale electricity $34/MWh. So even if this thing can turn 1 lb of nickel into 1 lb of copper, it needs to make at least 1 kWh of power doing so.

  • To answer my own question, apparently they’re claiming they get ~65MWh/kg. So yeah, no problem being profitable, if it works.

Climate change IS undeniable. (that is the nature of a dynamic system, the earth, the universe, is a dynamic system. Change is its signature, their trajectories are not static)

What is in dispute is whether it is human caused climate change, that is the old way that this debate was framed, now it is not. Why?

Which is not to say that we should not be working towards more efficient and cleaner ways of doing things, which by the way America is a leader in. The semantics game that is being played is interesting to watch, I see it as more of a way to paint a picture in order to control.
