B-52s – Rock Lobster
On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.
The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.
The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.
"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News
Nah.
Lets go back to Summertime.
One of their stranger songs.
Mixed feelings (neutral) on the B-52’s.
First heard them on college FM radio, and the whole 1950’s-esque Beehive Stuff played sorta well on MTV.

I hated their sound-they and Marx killed the 80’s. “Camel Walk” by ‘Southern Culture on the Skids” outdid their act.
The best REM song came from “The Josh Joplin Group” and was called ‘You’re Playing You Now.”
What do you think of LORD HURON?
Heard the band when my oldest sister was in her ‘punk’ phase. I have the eponymous debut album, and like it. Not in a hurry to buy their other work, though.
Boys in bikinis
Girls in surfboards
Everybody’s rockin’
Everybody’s frugin’
Twistin’ ’round the fire, havin’ fun
Bakin’ potatoes, bakin’ in the sun
Put on your nose guard
Put on the lifeguard
Pass the tanning butter . . . .
Have fun . . .. it’s summer!
The band should have been named the “D- 52’s”.
Clearly a missed branding opportunity.
“one of their stranger songs”
Hmm, think the other songs were plenty strange too.
The lighter side of Punk.
Somewhat unexpectedly the career of the bomber is likely to continue beyond that of the band!
