With a wave of his hand, Obama has declared that insurance companies need not cancel policies forbidden under Obamacare.
The law is such an inconvenient thing: With a wave of his hand, Obama today has declared that insurance companies need not cancel policies forbidden under Obamacare.
In remarks at the White House today, Obama said, “I completely get how upsetting this can be” lose insurance plans that I promised Americans would be able to keep. “To those Americans, I hear you loud and clear.”
But there’s a catch with president’s proposed solution. The president is not proposing that the law be changed to allow all health insurance plans grandfathered into Obamacare’s eligibility requirements.
No, instead the White House is saying that it will use “enforcement discretion” to allow illegal health insurance plans to be able to still be sold. That is, the Obama administration will not enforce the penalty on individuals for not having eligible health insurance plans and they’ll allow the insurance companies to still sell so-called bad plans — plans they technically can’t sell under Obamacare.
If I was an insurance company I would not take Obama at his word. If they don’t cancel these forbidden policies, they might find the administration coming after them later for not obeying the law.
Also, this action by Obama solves none of the political problems facing the Democratic Party for its creation of Obamacare. Even if it happens, it is merely a one year delay in the cancellation of these policies, which would place their final cancellation to just before next year’s election.
On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.
The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.
The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.
"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News

It’s a trap.
After the insurance companies provide the unlawful policies the administration will make egregious demands on them. If they don’t accede they will be criminally charged.
Our president now has the power to have issue forth from his mouth law? What happened to the law that was passed?
Can anyone hear that hammer?
It sounds like its getting closer to the last nail on the Obama care coffin.
No one in the media seems to be calling Obama out on this. We just went through a government shutdown where Republicans asked for a one year delay to the individual mandate. In the process, Obama and the Democrats said some pretty terrible things about their political opposition.
Now, we know Republican concerns about Obamacare were correct and a delay was in the best interest of Obama and Obamacare yet Obama turned down the deal. Then today, Obama dictates a delay in contravention of the law.
Why did we even go through shutdown theatre if Obama was going to unilaterally delay it on his own? How is it possible that days before the launch of his signature accomplishment that he didn’t know the website was ready and that tens of millions would lose their insurance? It isn’t possible…
It is crazy that Obama and the Democrats turned down a Republican offer to delay the mandate and then issue edicts delaying the mandate and no one in the media calls them out.
This edict will either be taken back by Obama or it WILL end up at the supreme court.
And If Obama looses the ruling the court will say that no part of the law can be rewritten with out passing both houses in a vote.
Or the court will agree that the president(ANY president) can change law at will. And how will the dems like those apples when the republicans take back the White house?
