It dawned on me that this whole issue is just one big misunderstanding. When Obama said “If you like your health plan you can keep it, period” the teleprompter was slightly out of focus.
What it actually said was “If you like your health plan you can keep it*” and he misread the asterisk as a period. It could happen to anyone.
All joking aside, even if the bill were passed and signed into law it would require the insurance companies to get on board very quickly, and even if that happened, the state insurance regulators wouldn’t approve in time for coverage to continue. Even under ideal conditions, there’d be a lapse in coverage.
This is all political theater, and nothing short of repeal has any real chance of a good outcome.
I don’t understand the republican’s strategy. Not a single republican voted for Obamacare so they have no skin in the game, and yet their lack of action speaks volumes.
Do they actually want this monstrosity to continue to wreak havoc with the ultimate result being single payer healthcare or are they truly committed to free market private insurance and the rule of law especially relating to contract law and private property right?.
My answer is to vote them all out, implement term limits for all elected officials as well as for supreme court justices.
They must repeal this law.
So much damage has been done, and I believe this was the intent of Obamacare to begin with, that repeal will not be enough. It takes at least 60 days for policies to be changed by the states as the insurance commissioners in the several states need to approve any changes in policies offered in their state.
Do not be surprised if sometime in the not too distant future proposals are put forward stripping these state commissions of their authority. Another step towards the ultimate goal, single payer.
Anyone note what is going on in Venezuela? Perhaps Obama will take a clue from that to further distract the populace. Who’ll stop him if he does; John Roberts?
Any repeal now is a waste of time.
Its best to block any changes of the ACA and force its total implementation.
The people will call for the repeal as soon as it hits their pocket books.
It just hasn’t hit enough people yet hard enough.
Its best to ride the wave of public support instead of jumping out in front of that wave and getting crushed in its turbulence.
Let the dems jump out ahead and keep claiming everything is going fine. The people will see the truth.
Besides the liberal idiots can’t attack you if you don’t do anything.
Oh they will cry that the republicans don’t have a better plan, the whole time ignoring the fact that their plan is making things worse.
But once everyone is crying about the bad effects of the ACA and the libs are actually honestly asking what the republican solution is, Thats when you drop out a plan to actually cover those who really needed it without destroying the private insurance industry.
A real and reasonable plan with real solutions and no political motives or twists. No pork.
Hopefully there’s still a viable health insurance industry when all that comes to pass.
This may well represent the beginning of the end of the Marxist / socialist agenda or a major part of it in America. Any system that is so heavily based is lying, misinformation and deceit must fail.
Don’t hold your breath. They will blame insurance companies, despite being in bed with them. They will blame Republicans. They will blame the media. They will blame consumers. Never will they blame their ideology or their policies. It will become a game of if only.
If only they had a president that was competent.

I take your point but Obama has gone too far. This kind of government always has to run into truth at some point and when the people realize it, there is no undoing what has been done, the bell can not be un-rung.
I think the accelerated nature of our technology rich culture is a double edged sword that cuts both ways much too fast for politicians so fully invested in deceit to prosper in the long term. Which is not to say that the next two and a half years will be trouble free. Mr. Obama and his followers are the political enema that the people of America were in need of in order to get their attention, they have been asleep.
Awake and purge what you now understand is not good for you and be measured and judicious in what you ingest to refortify yourself after the purge.
So, the GOP House members pass a bill to provide a one year extension of individual health policies to codify what Obama says he will do by executive fiat, and Obama says he will veto it should it pass the Senate? Does anyone else think this is crazy? Moreover, why is the GOP trying to give the Dems cover through the 2014 congressional elections? Am I missing something?

Forcing the dems to accept ANY actual change to the law is an admission on their part that the law was at least in some part flawed.
Thats why the president is only doing a no enforcement move and is not asking law makers to actually change the law in writing.
The president saying he will never sign anything that changes the law before anything is even passed just drives home the fact that he is acting like a dictator and is absolutely unwilling to accept any criticism. From the left or the right. But especially the right.
