Fauci admits to lying in his public statements about COVID-19
Our corrupt and dishonest government experts: Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) since 1984, has now admitted that he changed his estimates of the required level of herd immunity needed to stop the epidemic based not on any science but on poll numbers and on “his gut feelings.”
In a Christmas Eve interview with the New York Times, Fauci acknowledged he had offered a lower estimate of the level of herd immunity necessary to stop the COVID-19 pandemic because he thought Americans would be discouraged by hearing his true thoughts on the issue.
He recently raised his estimate on the herd immunity threshold “partly based on new science,” the newspaper reported, “and partly on his gut feeling that the country is finally ready to hear what he really thinks.”
Fauci himself told the paper that he had withheld the higher estimates because polling results made him think such estimates would be viewed unfavorably. “When polls said only about half of all Americans would take a vaccine, I was saying herd immunity would take 70 to 75 percent,” he told reporter Donald McNeil. “Then, when newer surveys said 60 percent or more would take it, I thought, ‘I can nudge this up a bit,’ so I went to 80, 85.”
Fauci admitted that scientists “really don’t know what the real number is,” though he himself estimated that the “real range is somewhere between 70 to 90 percent.”
“But, I’m not going to say 90 percent,” he added, because “doing so might be discouraging to Americans,” according to the Times. [emphasis min]
The highlighted words tell us everything we really need to know about this fraud. He is not only a liar, he is an ignorant liar who cloaks that ignorance by loud declarations based not on knowledge but his own political goals.
Why are we still listening to this idiot? More important, why does he still have a job? Such dishonesty and two-timing should have gotten him fired instantly.
That he is still employed in such a powerful post and is still relied on by others in the media and government for guidance tells us much about the corruption and dishonesty of both those institutions. They support his lying, because it has also served their corrupt political purposes.

We are long overdo for a 2nd Opinion.. Maybe from a Doctor who isn’t always on TV,
Why are we listening to Fauci? People are surprised that a government-authorized “expert” turns out to be an average incompetent? What???
Please someone answer this question: why are we listening to anyone who says there is something to fear in this virus, when after a year, such a vastly huge majority of the population remains still alive and well? Why listen to all the fear they spin with regard to contagious this and droplets that? WHY when the arithmetic shouts that only the tiniest smattering of us have been harmed by C19?
When will we listen to someone who lets the Covid19 believers save face, declare 99.97% general population either untouched or healed from C19, good enough, we can take the masks off? It had better be soon as it is the only peaceful way out of this; every one who has supported lockdowns, masks, social distancing, is liable for charges of manslaughter.
They would be, that is, if we were living in a state of law and order. Sadly, we are presently in a state of lawlessness.
“Please someone answer this question: why are we listening to anyone who says there is something to fear in this virus, when after a year, such a vastly huge majority of the population remains still alive and well? ”
Because its his job as an official of the government.
This current situation between the difference of those who inhabit the Pedestrian realm, and those who inhabit the Political realm is very instructive. This is S.O.M.
Fauci is an arms length leadership operative and is tasked with facilitating the overall survival of the essential services and infrastructure of the country.
From S.O.M.: “Strategy Over Morality describes a two-tiered “conversation” between a Public and their Empowered Leadership where the Public believes there is only a single, no tiered conversation occurring and that single conversation is assumed by the Public to relate to the Public’s morality and truth model perspective. ”

STRATEGY OVER MORALITY / S.O.M. : The Existential Exercise Of Power And The Foundation Of Abuse Of Power
Copyright, J.G.L. 2011, revised 1/20/18, revised 1/19/20
STRATEGY OVER MORALITY / S.O.M. DESCRIBES JUSTIFIABLE EXISTENTIAL LEADERSHIP THOUGHT PROCESS AND ACTION WHERE THE ENDS ALWAYS JUSTIFIES THE MEANS, WHERE MORALITY AND TRUTH ARE ONLY HUMAN CONCEPTS, ADHERED TO BY “OTHERS”.
How civilizations, governments and wars and their leadership throughout history are founded, fought and at their existential human core must operate.
EXPLANATION:
Strategy Over Morality describes a two-tiered “conversation” between a Public and their Empowered Leadership where the Public believes there is only a single, no tiered conversation occurring and that single conversation is assumed by the Public to relate to the Public’s morality and truth model perspective.
A model in which leadership or their empowered subordinates within government can subjectively justify to choose to formulate an interpretation of their core fiduciary responsibilities which becomes paramount over and above the public’s truth and morality model. Where plausible deniability can be claimed when “immoral” acts or modified “truth” strategies are employed or executed by leadership, their subordinates or by arms length leadership proxies.
In this “conversation”, leadership in the empowered “Political Realm” or their empowered subordinates step “down” to the public’s level, the “Pedestrian Realm”, and presents information, agenda, policy or strategy in a tailored, palatable package the public can believe and comfortably accept. Leadership then steps back to their “higher” level, formulates and executes “necessary”, by their subjective standards, agenda, policy and strategy where the public’s interpretation of morality or truth is not relevant or becomes optional.
CONCLUSION: The public lives and operates under a subjective moral code or within a “Pedestrian Realm” perspective which they assume their leadership which exists within the “Political Realm” is constrained by. This is a subjective false perspective conclusion on the part of the public. Leadership is not about morality, truth and honesty, leadership is about the fundamental exercise of power and survival.
TERM DEFINITIONS:
PUBLIC OR PEDESTRIAN REALM: The individual citizens of any civilization, society or country.
LEADERSHIP OR POLITICAL REALM: Any macro empowered governing entity or their direct subordinates concerned with the formulation and implementation of laws, strategies and policies, both civil and military.
LEADERSHIPS CORE PRIME DIRECTIVE: Above all else the securing, promotion and survival of the society, culture, territory, power and treasure.
Cotour, “Because its his job as an official of the government.”
So what? Big deal!
The question is, why is anyone listening to him?
Or anyone who encourages fear in the face of overwhelming mathematical proof that the very, very large majority of “victims” are fine?
The man screwed up the call on AIDS and should have been quietly removed from his position years ago.
He is acting like the American people are 4 year olds and totally ignorant of anything above a 4 syllable word.
What would happen if the people panicked? Nothing. we have been through things like this before and as a people we are pretty steadfast.
Fauci is a tool of the machine, and because of that fact he has certain institutional credibility, and some people defer to his title, Dr., and his “expertise” and his words. Its his job.
And that is it.
Please do not over think this.
It just boggles my mind … why do people listen to warnings of a dire threat that is proven to be imaginary by ordinary arithmetic easily done by a 4th grader?
The better question is, how long will it take for grown-ups to realize what an unsophisticated child acknowledged right off the bat, that the Emperor is naked even though everyone is talking about his clothes?
How long before people stop studying how effective masks are at stopping something that is staying where it is, affecting a miniscule percentage of the whole? How before people stop babbling things that are totally beside the point?
Good grief. It’s not about Fauci, it’s about people careless and weak enough to believe him.
Well, as for “overthinking,” Cotour … advise well taken because it takes one to know one.
Thank you?
Here is a little more institutional stupid for you in the attempt to make things more “Equal”:
https://www.breitbart.com/education/2020/12/28/harvard-panel-claims-not-all-who-give-birth-are-women-uses-term-birthing-people/
There are some people who see a story like this and see the word, “HARVARD”, and take it seriously. 2 + 2 = 5 (Really)
What is it that Forest Gump says, stupid is as stupid does?
Sorry, Cotour, I get what you are saying and you are correct, exactly correct about those things you address. I am trying to get an answer to a different question. I ask because either I have a wildly incorrect numerical perspective (which is odd considering I’ve always been better than average at arithmetic, especially ballparking general percentages, I can visualize the math, not swiftly but with enjoyment in any case) …
But either that or I am witnessing mass hysteria at its most frightening. I am pretty sure it is the latter. Replacing Fauci will make zero dif because he is a symptom. The enemy is hysteria; Fauci is a fomenter authorized by government, and that is a different discussion, to my mind. I don’t care about Fauci, he is a minor detail. He could be anyone.
In April I began paying attention when the headline screamed, “Covid deaths in America surpass China” and I felt a pang of fear that many would die of this.
Then I did the arithmetic. China’s population is 1.38 billion. When I saw that their “toll” was 3,800 or so souls (replaced at that birth rate in one hour and 40 minutes, IIRC), it was like someone had kicked my stomach: this is pure, plain, insanity according to the arithmetic.
As Bette Davis would say, “Fasten your seatbelts. It’s going to be a bumpy night.”
Two things:
1. You are witness to a kind of mass hysteria.
And, 2. Fauci is just doing his job.
A symptom? More a cog.
Government is necessary, but it is a necessary evil.
Its really simple, believe what you are seeing, human beings truly have unlimited potential in all things.

“…logic is an enemy and truth is a menace…”
From the article: “Fauci himself told the paper that he had withheld the higher estimates because polling results made him think such estimates would be viewed unfavorably.”
So, if I understand Fauci correctly, either he does not believe that We the People are capable of self governance and need someone to determine what information we can and cannot handle and to determine what actions to take, OR he was worried about retaining his popularity among We the People. Which on oof those justifies lying to us?
For more than two centuries (more like four, if you realize that the King of England did not really have the rule over the American colonies that he thought he had), We the People have been very successful at self governance. But now that there is a flu going around, all that has changed? We need someone to destroy our lives in order to save our lives?
Edward-
-holy cow, this Fauci Guy is the poster-child for “progressive scientific management” of the sheep. (that would be us, it goes without saying.)
Your both missing where Fauci gets his authority to lie, or “lie” depending on your point of view. (He has a license to lie as per S.O.M.)
Some will see everything Fauci says and recommends as being absolute truth because of the letters “D” and “R” that precedes his name and his job title, “Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases” (since 1984, this guy has been in the game a long time)
Some will be a bit more objective and check his statements to their own truth and understand that he is in fact managing a message which is his primary job and not just spewing the truth un abridged. Most people can not stand to hear the real truth, and they do not really want to hear the real truth. Fauci’s primary job is to manage the message in order to arrive at an acceptable point related to how government needs to deal with any issue that threatens it. And that is what the evidence correlates to.

Not sheep, though, LIVESTOCK.
Right now people are agreeing to being treated like livestock because they have been frightened by the medical establishment into thinking it is too dangerous to doubt the veterinarians … er, doctors.
Folks from cities often have a fuzzy idea of where milk comes from, even … they are ripe for being made to live like livestock and be totally oblivious of it.

Recall MIT professor Jonathan Gruber explaining, a decade before, why they had to lie to get Obamacare imposed. Because the American people are stupid, I think he said.
Then we have advocates for even more gov’t, and We the People vote it in. And in ten more years, probably double down again.
I expected better.

From the real world:
I have to share this as an example of just how insane this entire episode in America is making people. And the likes of Dr. Fauci are contributing to it by his movable goals in his attempt to manage the public.
Just today, the woman that works for me is telling me how she is going to once again get tested for the virus. She has already been tested I think 4 times, complains that it is very uncomfortable. All negative. She is perfectly fine, no symptoms, no cough, no head ache, no fever……….NOTHING that would indicate that she should be tested for anything other than by a psychiatrist for a mental disorder.
She stays away from people, she wears her mask more or less religiously, and she is making herself crazy. (Full blown confused Liberal)
She has watched me deal every day of the virus event with the public, no mask, taking my precautions, 10K transactions plus, but she is isolated and she is the one who is getting herself tested constantly. I had to tell her today in strong terms to: “Stop, you are making yourself crazy with this stuff, you do not have the virus and it is unlikely that you will get the virus”.
My neighbors, both wear their masks religiously, have stayed away from most people, recite all of the CDC / Dr. Fauci rhetoric, they visited a friends house, they both got the virus. They really are not certain where they got it from. 10 days later after sleeping it off they are fine. Although they are reporting heart palpitations as several other have reported the same to me. (Again, confused full blown Liberals)
They all ask:
Why are you not getting tested? Why are you not wearing your mask? When are you going to get tested?
Im not going to get tested, I have no reason to get tested, and I have taken measures to prevent me from getting the virus.
People are taking the information that they are presented by the likes of Dr. Fauci and others, misinterpreting it, listening to the MSM, misinterpreting it, and making themselves literally NUTS!
I heard a great quote this morning by Ron Paul. Couldn’t find it but it’s similar to “masks are virtue signaling”. They do not prevent contagion.
Found a short interview where he tells what he really thinks and it’s virtually preaching to the choir on this website. He reaffirms everything said here, even Janyuary’s separation between “medicine and state” 3:47min
https://duckduckgo.com/?q=+dr.+Ron+Paul+on+masks+&t=h_&iax=videos&ia=videos&iai=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D26pLFGcDRbM
Cotour: anyone who asks me why I don’t get tested, I answer with five words: “Because I’ve done the arithmetic.”
If I am walking along and see a person wearing a mask while driving, I point at them and laugh; if I walk near someone wearing a mask, I catch their eye if possible, and smirk at them. If I am driving and see someone walking or jogging outdoors while wearing a mask, I slow down and gape at them, and show how amused I am at their silliness.
I believe it is my duty to make folks who support this societal homicide, feel stupid and embarrassed about it. I do it to gratify my own feelings but more than that, I do it for children because Covid Believers are setting up to destroy those kids’ liberty and they must at least be discouraged or more like warned that people will step in and stop them unless they get the hint and back off. I’m doing my part.
Note that this COVID19 hysteria hoax started with Chinese CCP propaganda videos showing people “falling dead” in the street and foaming at their mouths. When the actual COVID19 flu reached the US, none of those things happened.
This was a Chinese attack, the election fraud had Chinese assistance. And the reason President Trump has suspended military intelligence briefings with Biden was because:
Trump’s military intelligence gave the Biden team, and only the Biden team, some fake intel. And within 24hrs, that same fake intel showed up in CCP intelligence traffic.
janyuary:
I do not do any of those things, people are genuinely scared and they are doing what it is that they feel makes them proactive in dealing with the situation and keeping themselves healthy. I spoke in a strong manner to my employee because she need a symbolic slap in the face because she was taking too far. And she admitted to me that she indeed was making herself crazy with this stuff.
The powers that be in politics and in media are the culprits here, each for their own purposes.
Xopher:
Is that Biden to China info stream your assumption? Which I do not think is unreasonable. Or is it based on information that you can have seen and can share?
Fauci is one of the fearful leaders who wants us to obey his orders. He has gone power mad.
David Telford noted: “Recall MIT professor Jonathan Gruber explaining, a decade before, why they had to lie to get Obamacare imposed. Because the American people are stupid, I think he said.”
He relied upon the stupidity of the American voter, but since he did not have Republicans or conservatives on his side, he meant the stupidity of the Democrat voter or the leftist voter.
Coutour, patriot friend, with respect: “The powers that be in politics and in media are the culprits here, each for their own purposes.”
The powers that be in politics/business (pharmaceuticals?) are the only culprits. In a free market, consumers are responsible for how they consume a product. This must be accepted in order to progress toward a solution. As long as people buy into the myth that “the media lied!,” then they will continue swirling downward.
The media did ZIP but tell its consumers what certain people said, and ignored what others said. The media did zip but report numbers of deaths, hospitalizations, ICU visits, and “cases.” The media did ZIP but take billions of dollars in advertising from the medical industry, an aggressive 20-year outreach of fear marketing from every angle, on every medium, every hour, from sides of busses to elaborate television and radio commercials. Billions of dollars for the media, were they supposed to turn it down?
When I showed my husband the breakdown of the arithmetic, on paper, that more than 99.97 percent of us in our so-called “at risk” county (thanks to I think Max or someone here correcting my off factor of 10, I mostly only ballpark!) are fine after a year of this, isn’t that good enough for the love of Mary — his response was an indignant: “Well, why didn’t the media tell people? How are they supposed to know?”
Of course I snarled back, “Nobody told me! I figured it out myself, for crying out loud!” He’s a patient man (though I notice that the tick above his left eye is getting worse lately … *ducking*) and saw my point. He’d better, anyway.
But truly, it is plain that anything to do with an actual virus or the efficacy of social distancing or masks and how they are reducing “cases” are ALL DIVERSIONS at this point. And it is by design that it coincides with an election in dispute between two powers-that-be in politics whom most Americans hold in contempt but media and marketing, again, sway consumers into seeing a certain reality that is only partly there …
A line from the movie Tombstone comes to mind, in the bar, Marshal Fred White: “It’s gettin’ kinda spooky around here.”
The Wild West is back right now, actually …!

janyuary: (I have been reading you as being an older man all this time :)
I think what this all demonstrates is that the Left, the Democrats, the Communist Chinese, Soros, Stacey Abrams, Hillary, John Podesta, Democrat governors and mayors, prosecutors, attorney generals etc, those in media and the corporations that own them are more passionate and committed to their cause and they will literally do anything to fulfill their agenda.
The Republicans? Not so committed. They talk a lot of bovine effluent, but are just not as committed and organized and they do not have those who are committed to their cause, if you can define exactly what their cause is that is.
The only one on our side who IMO see things correctly and have the vision and the passion are few, lead by Trump at this moment in time and several others in government, and about 80 million people who are happy to back them up. But we are right now playing several men down.
And PS:
The Democrats are passionate in different ways. On the political side its all about the acquisition of and the retention of power, PERIOD, plain and simple and the Socialist model of the populous being dependent on government serves them best. And that is by any means necessary.
And then there are the true believers, the every day minions that see, or have been trained to see through their indoctrination the empowerment of the individual as an offence to the collective model. And that IMO is because they are in fact inadequate humans who are of a dependent nature and see the independence and success of others as an offence and direct threat to them. An unspoken jealousy of sorts.
And then there are the Democrat Americans who exist more in the middle between the two who are good, hard working, tax paying, house buying and building, TV watching every day Americans who are just half educated on all of this who just want to pay their bills and live in peace who see the other side as being the tools of corrupt and immoral corporations. And they have to choose a side or they choose the side that their mother and father chose for them, and they stay there. (And to be clear, both sides are corrupt and immoral in their own special ways).
Cotour, from my point of view, you want the right things but you are trusting the wrong guy to “lead.” Donald Trump (what’s been seen cannot be unseen) inspires as much confidence in me as pet monkey “chef” in a five-star restaurant kitchen.
ALL of the long lectures I see penned about the evils of Democrats and leftists and communism, I have been hearing and reading literally since the late 1960s, as a 6th grader I identified as a Republican and conservative and was politically passionate because of where I come from. UNDERSTAND that what you write most of the time is only repeating what I have heard for decades, about the evils of Democrats versus the virtues of Republicans, and about how communism/socialism creeps in.
Forest and trees …. caught up in the trees, of language (like leaves they change seasonally), the details of the dif between a socialist and a communist and how Democrats lie, etc etc etc, … trees, all of them. How to get out of the FOREST though is what to remember and pay attention to.
And Cotour … what you and others say here about the evils of Democrats and liberals and the virtues of Republicans and conservatives would be nice if they were true, and if Republicans/conservatives actually were what you wish they were, but that is an illusion. Therefore it is also probably an illusion that Democrats and liberals are as awful as they are portrayed — it stands to reason.
In a perfect world, yes. But in this world for the past 20 years, Republicans and conservatives, not just elected but among voters, have become something very different than portrayed. They are functional Democrats and liberals, loving to have government “shepherd” us poor stupid citizens, and for decades now they have been celebrated as “Republicans” and “conservatives.”
I have FACED IT. Many, many older and many younger than me and just as politically passionate about liberty, have DENIED that truth and they continue losing because they are using a wrong tool to “win.”
Oh, respected and valued compatriot Cotour, thank you for the supreme compliment! That you assumed I was “an older man” would please my dear old dad very much as he is the one who trained my thinking in politics. He was a Republican raised by liberal Democrat British immigrants, was self-employed and a capitalist in a highly risky profession where those who succeeded did so on their own wits, made a six-figure income doing it, and called himself a conservative and a Republican. Then. Today I have a hunch he would … well, be on the same page as me. Certainly he probably told me (though I don’t remember specifically) that voting “against” is literally an imaginary action, therefore to be extremely leery of anyone who advised me to vote “against” an opponent. Language is very, very powerful in misleading people in action. Even when you vote “against” a proposition, the action you take is to vote for saying “Toss this idea away.”
Anyway, thank you so much for the supreme compliment. Press on, patriot.
When I write about Trump, I am not for one second writing about the virtues of the Republican party. If that is what you are getting out of my content then I have failed miserably.
Trump is the founder of what is coming in the Conservative future of America and the only thing that stands between you and this:
https://youtu.be/WijoL3Hy_Bw
(Watch 5 minutes and you will watch 10, and that is about all you will be able to take. This Leftist / Marxist brand of destruction is what is underway courtesy of the Democrat political machine that has been taken over by the young blood Leftists in their party and who’s older white cracker political dinosaurs are pandering to. This too must change.)
You don’t personally like Trump? No one cares.
And it will the the young bloods like Hawley, who himself despises Trump, and the many others that will be the beneficiaries of Trump’s abilities in being an American nationalist catalyst and adherent to the Constitution. The Democrats want to abandon the Constitution for some perverted form of hollowed out America.
Don’t personally like Trump? Think Trump is offensive?
Get over it, he is it, like it or not.
Don’t choose to be a political dinosaur.
Okay Cotour, I get it.
Here’s the thing. When a railroad bridge is made of balsawood, no matter how real it looks, when an actual steam locomotive (that would be reality) tries to cross it, it is going to collapse.
What popular free-chosen media has projected as the political divide in America, is about as accurate as the picture it has projected of C19 illness and death — wildly distorted. Government regulations and market interference have made it impossible for free market media to fill the demand, government fire out of control. Arithmetic tells the truth, and anecdotal evidence well discerned also tells much truth. Politicians, media (and marketing, hand in hand, the art of projecting a compelling “reality”), doctors, science, either guess with good intent or self-interested, lie, or entertain. Arithmetic leads true.
Trump and Hillary were loathed. I stopped monitoring election arithmetic in 2016 because I saw that today’s new age dark age rejects arithmetic as political black magic of the far far right.
Also … it sure smells like fear in marketing to me, Cotour. Take it from an old hand — be always on your guard against anything someone is trying to scare you into doing. Fear in marketing is always sign of laziness, that is what is marketing to you and why they chose fear to drive you.
Do you fear enslavement, or do you love liberty? WHICH is going to lead true?
No, you are not getting it.
And I do not like your analogy.
And the metric that must be seen are the actions of Trump and his administration. Trump buries all other modern presidents in this regard. And that is the only thing that matters to me.
Have you ever wondered why nothing really made sense to you in politics in the past? Trump makes sense for the first time in your life.
Don’t take Trump literally, take him seriously.
janyuary wrote: “But in this world for the past 20 years, Republicans and conservatives, not just elected but among voters, have become something very different than portrayed. My observation is that as the Democrats moved farther to the left the Republican Party, as well as its voters, moved left as well, running fast as though to catch up. This is how we got Trump, who is far more like the Bill Clinton administration than the Reagan administration.
As long as there is no strong political party to the right of center, this country is going to end up as a tyranny. Since the government already can direct us as to how to spend our own money (by Supreme Court ruling on Obamacare) and is now forbidding us from leaving our houses except to gather food or for emergencies (e.g. house is on fire, or to screen for cancer — oops, can’t even leave the house for cancer, because that might take up a Wuhan flu bed) and directing us as to what we must wear (e.g. face diapers).
Some people say that at this rate we will soon lose our country, but I say that we lost it in 2014, when the Supreme Court ruled that government can direct us to buy, do, say, or be anything that they choose, so long as a tax (Sixteenth Amendment) is associated with that edict. This most definitely is not the country that we grew up in.
Welcome to Obama’s America, land of the formerly free.
Edward, that’s about right. Obama was a symptom.
The cause was taking the easy path of ignoring corruption. It happened in both parties. You would have been saying “Welcome to Romney’s America” had that “severe conservative” (how he described himself) won in 2012.
Yes, it would have been “Welcome to Romney’s America, land of the formerly free.” As it happens, Obama won (relatively slimly in view of the harvesting, which shows how loathed he was among boots on the ground) instead of the Republican. Bill Clinton, by the way, was really loathed, rejected by even more than Trump. Funny how pop media history has folks thinking he was a popular president when the arithmetic (along with my “anecdotal” memory) says at the time most folks thought he stunk regardless of party.
These days I know that at least a large plurality of people reject both parties/movements because arithmetic says so. I don’t care what media project or what pundits say, if it disputes the arithmetic, I’ll go with the latter.
It is really getting spooky. When it fully dawns that we are at this moment in a state of lawlessness, all bets are off. I have a pretty good knowledge of what it was like once upon a time here in California and how it happened “legally” ……. and how it was resolved. I wonder if those bad times will revisit these peaceful scenic places? Oh well. Here’s lookin’ at you … just read news of a local State Polytechnic University senior who died over Christmas, on campus. No other details. Hmmmmmm …. gosh ….. gee, we know newspapers have a longstanding (and honorable) policy of laying low on suicides especially young ones, in how they are reported. So as far as our news media goes, we may not know the impact until it touches us.
janyuary,
I probably still would have called it Obama’s America, since Romney would have let Obamacare stand, just as Senator McCain did when he had the opportunity to kill it. Now, under Obamacare, when we should not be losing our houses due to having an expensive illness, we are losing our houses and businesses due to an inexpensive illness that we don’t even have! What a complete failure Obamacare and the rest of our government are.
Even under Trump, we are being told how to live our lives, even though it comes from people like Fauci, who Gruber us in order to get our cooperation.
Screw Fauci. Screw his wife. Screw his children. Screw his dog. Screw the horse he rode in on and the fleas from that horse.
Cotour: “Don’t take Trump literally, take him seriously.”
Wow. It’s a bit like my own slip … saying that something certainly probable in an up post.
Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain “The Great Fauci” has spoken. I didn’t know Chicken Little was Italian!
Cotour, I would have taken Trump seriously if he had told the world, “The rest of you can go along with this game if you want, but we are Americans, we’re different, we can do arithmetic and take care of ourselves. Alone in the world we will stand as a beacon of sanity.”
Trump caved. Just like Cruz and every other Republican and conservative. And you want me to take him seriously?
If I cannot take a man literally, then I sure as heck am not going to take him seriously.
A symptom of Trumps particular brain structure is that he can over speak, its a part of his personal internal conversation and how he arranges things in order to persevere. Its works for him very well, whether you see it or are comfortable with it. (Makes me uncomfortable but I understand it). Have you ever slipped and shared what is bouncing around in your brain before you edited it for public consumption? Trump has long ago dispense with all of that he is just sharing what is bouncing around in his brain, and thats your problem, not his.
That being said you can not always take him literally but you can take him serious. He is a serious man, a man of consequence and his actions regarding how he interprets his fiduciary responsibilities concerning his position as the president as a function of the Constitution is apparent to me. Just tell me what he has done, and not necessarily what he has said. There is a difference, see if you can detect it.
You would be more comfortable with a more “perfect” human being as president. Well you do not have that, and you never will. So you go to battle with the army that you have and not the one you wish you had.
Trump IMO, and I have stated this from pretty near the beginning of this political juggernaut, and the documentation is contained right here on the BTB web site, is in line with the Founders and certainly will be considered in line right after Lincoln. Not Reagan, not Clinton, not either Bush, certainly not Obama. Trump stands head and shoulders over them all.
Trump is what you have got, get comfortable with him he will be around for a long time both in person and in his inspiration and example for those who will come after him and mirror his accomplishments in preserving the country as formulated.
If not him, then who? The Conservative young bloods will be inspired by him and there in is the only salvation for the country as you know and love it.
Gosh, the fact that Trump doesn’t walk on water isn’t what turns me away from him. It is because I am old and wise enough to recognize realities that would have eluded me 20 years ago, such as the awkward and often inconvenient truth that if it walks like a duck and talks like a duck (I listened to what the candidates said during the 2016 Republican primary campaigns), then it is probably a duck.
Folks who pretend it is an eagle with sharp talons and beak and an incredible eye for spotting prey from a distance, get angry at those who sadly, patiently, diligently, point out that their “eagle” has webbed feet, a rounded beak, and an eye for managing little ducklings until they get picked off by predators following Mama Duck across the pond or the pasture.
A man who bullies, cheats, and strong-arms his way into office over better men, deserves my contempt and yours, Cotour.
Good grief. You deserve BETTER than Trump, Cotour. I wish you knew it.
“A man who bullies, cheats, and strong-arms his way into office over better men, deserves my contempt and yours, Cotour.”
Trump understands what it takes to win in politics. If McCain understood that and took Obama out as he should have he would have been the president. But he did not.
Who was “Better” than Trump?
In the knock down drag out contest Trump won, who is better than he? Romney? Jeb Bush?, Chris Cristy?
You need to rethink yourself.
There were none standing that were worthy.
No, Trump understands how to abuse power to get what he wants.
Ted Cruz was worthy, Cotour. I know lots and lots of real honest-to-goodness Republican conservatives who are entrepreneurs, ranchers, farmers, high-risk types, and ALL of them looked forward to voting for Ted Cruz — for once, they said, we have someone to vote FOR rather than an opponent we have to vote “against.” But by the time the primaries came to my state, Cruz was no longer an option. My former party’s presidential nominee was once again decided by the same North East “conservative Republicans” who considered functional big government Democrat Mitt Romney a “conservative Republican,” and all other primary results even in states with ten times the population, were made moot. THAT is a problem with the Republican party and its primary system — it is BROKEN. It was BROKEN when Trump won.
I don’t know what you were doing, but I was paying attention to the primaries. I would bet everything I’ve got that Trump had ugly compromising blackmail film on pundits who otherwise would have stood strong in opposition to Hillary’s former great and enthusiastic supporter.
Support that at your own risk, Cotour, for for the love of all that is right, STOP being angry with those who understand that a lying cheating bully as a leader is a bad choice every time.
Ted Cruz was an issue of contention right here on BTB, the Zman and others were all over him as being their choice. I said then and I say now: He will NEVER become president. Never. Get over it.
And I like Ted Cruz, he is most useful right where he is as a Senator.
“it is broken”.
“IT”, has always been broken and there is no pristine state that politics has ever and will ever exist in. Delusion.
You go back into the BTB archives and read what I said then, I stand by it now.
Trump and the young bloods are the solution here and not your flavor of political logic.
