Eartha Kitt – Think I’m Being Had
An evening pause: Performed live on the Dick Cavett Show, 1969. The second half of the clip is Cavett interviewing her about her autobiography Thursday’s Child.
Hat tip Gene Shipp.
On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.
The print edition can be purchased at Amazon. from any other book seller, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. "Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News
I don’t know much about Eartha Kitt other than her singing the theme song for the Goldfinger movie. Dick Cavett is right, there is something scary about how she sings that song.
Still one of the best actors to play Catwoman as well.
Eartha Kitt could go boldly outside of the expectations. Love For Sale was usually sung as a “woe is me and my profession” song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SEwWhq_aYuQ (3 minutes), but Kitt also sang it in a “come hither” way: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPNfCM9I_Gs (3 minutes). Even for the 1960s, this was rather racy.
No wonder Cavett found her singing a bit scary.
