Can the Democrats offend enough people to make even their aggressive election tampering impossible?

Are Americans finally waking up and emulating their country's founders?

I normally pay little attention to polls, since for the last two decades they have not only been unreliable but generally weighted unfairly against Republicans. More often than not they have been used not to give us a sense of the state of the political campaign but to make us all believe a Democratic Party victory was inevitable.

However, a poll this week was so astonishing that I think it deserves some discussion. According to a national USA Today-Suffolk University poll published on January 2, 2023 by USA Today, large numbers of blacks, Hispanics, and young voters are now willing to abandon the Democratic Party, and do so in numbers that are shocking and unprecedented. As noted in this article about the poll,

Biden only pulls 63 percent support among black voters, while Trump draws 12 percent. In 2020, Trump carried exactly 12 percent of the black vote to Biden’s 87 percent, marking a substantial decline for the president in just over three years’ time, per USA Today.

Trump has the advantage among Latino voters at 39 percent to Biden’s 34 percent, as well as voters in most age demographics, including those between under 34 years of age at 37 percent to 33 percent. Biden only leads among voters 65 and older, at 42 percent to 38 percent.

For decades, Republicans were doing well if its candidates could garner thirty to forty percent of the Hispanic vote. This poll suggests Trump could get an outright majority of Hispanic voters.

For many decades, Republicans were doing well if its candidates could garner thirty percent of the youth vote. This polls suggests Trump might get an outright majority of young voters.

For more than a half century, Republicans were doing well if their candidates could get 15% of the black vote. Usually blacks would vote 90% or better for Democrats. This poll suggests that Biden will get less than two-thirds of that vote, a drop of support for the Democratic Party presidential candidate that is unprecedented since the 1960s.

Nor is Biden the only Democrat these voters are rejecting. The poll showed even less support for Biden’s vice president, Kamala Harris.

She gets lower job approval ratings than Biden among Black voters, 56% compared with 68%. She lags Biden among voters younger than 35, too, at 27% compared with 32%.

Two other factors illustrate the significance of these numbers. First this poll was of registered voters. As a rule, polls of likely voters tends more right than registered voters. Second, the poll was conducted by USA Today and an academic polling service. Such polls have routinely been heavily weighted to produce numbers that favor Democrats. As I noted above, this weighting is one reason I pay little attention to polls.

And yet, despite this factors the poll showed Biden in deep deep trouble. This suggests that Biden’s numbers are actually much worse than this poll suggests. It tells us strongly is that the country might finally noticing the bankrupt policies of Joe Biden and the entire Democratic Party — as it exists today. The poll also indicates that the country as a whole is recognizing that Donald Trump himself is not the ogre the press and the Democrats (I repeat myself) describe him as. The public remembers the generally better times during the first three years of Trump’s term, and are increasingly willing to give him a second chance.

In the past, this realization would be clearly reflected in the next election, resulting in a landslide victory for Donald Trump. Sadly, the past is gone. The last two elections have provided us ample evidence of significant election tampering by Democrats nationwide, most especially in the inner city districts where that party holds total control. The expectation by almost everyone willing to face these facts is that the tampering will be worse in 2024, most especially because these corrupt Democrats will be facing real consequences if they lose, and like any cornered animal they will thus be willing to do almost anything to prevent that defeat.

The illegal lawfare against Trump to deny the voters even the right see him on the ballot proves this supposition.

The Liberty Bell

the inhabitants thereof.” Photo credit: William Zhang

The numbers however suggest that the country might be swinging so strongly against Biden and the Democratic Party that even its widespread effort to “adjust” election results will be impossible. How can you enlist locals in your strongest districts to fake the numbers if even those voters no longer support your candidate? You can’t. All it will take is a significant minority of voters in each district willing to challenge this corruption. And the poll suggests might just see this in 2024.

I realize that I might be looking at the future with rose-colored glasses. Nothing in the past two decades has happened to suggest the voters might finally wake up now. Nonetheless, there are signs something is changing.

If so, it gives us hope that we might finally even see some positive reform within the Democratic Party itself. The sole purpose of politicians is to win elections. If the present Democratic Party and its policies can’t even do it when it tampers with the vote, then that party might feel compelled to change its policies and its membership to fix the problem.

Or else it will move to cancel all elections entirely. If that happens we will find out if Americans really do believe in freedom, the Constitution, the rule of law, and the democratic process.

Genesis cover

On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.

The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.

The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.

"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News

My concern was and is that the media have long abandoned even the pretense of the pursuit of truth in reporting. They are willing to make any claims they deem necessary to disparage right-of center candidates in order to help their preferred left-of-center candidates.

I am also concerned about the Left’s hold on academia and pop culture, furthering its effort to indoctrinate the populace and to vilify our founding principles and those who live by them.

Polls are basically worthless. They range from trying to be accurate, to “motivate our people to get out and work harder” to “discourage their people with the belief that it’s hopeless” to “encourage their people that it’s in the bag and they don’t need to spend time and money here.” Even polls that were historically accurate have been doing poorly in all the recent elections. Lots of polls that had done very well in 2016 were totally off base in 2020, and 2020 wasn’t very good for poll accuracy either. With the tiny sample sizes the polls get, and the fact that very few people actually bother to talk to pollsters, it amazes me that they even do as well as they do.

For 2024, it’s going to be 100% a matter of getting out the word, and getting out the vote. We need to be arguing not just against the establishment, but in favor of candidates that will change things. It can’t just be “vote the rats out” because too many people now believe that the next batch of rats is just as bad, they might as will stick with the rats they know.

Of course, we could wish for candidates that aren’t rats while we’re at it.

  • You know who lives in cities? A bunch of black and brown people. Know who generally runs cities? The Democratik Party. The people whom the Democrats claim to represent have been most negatively affected by the complete and utter failure of Progressive policies. Disproportionately
so, one might say. No mystery, here.

It seems like Biden’s big sin for many voters is that he is to boring. They don’t care about his (or Trump’s) advanced age. They don’t care about his foreign policy. They don’t care about what he is doing domestically. They care about excitement. They care about being part of something. Biden isn’t that. This is a sad commentary on the state of rational thought today. Ideally, people would vote for someone who they think is more qualified or at least someone who thinks the way they do. In reality, you can get votes the same way you get views on YouTube. I’ve seen reenactments of the Lincoln – Douglas debates. It is amazing how substantive they were considering they were made for a popular audience.

  • Doubting Thomas

No. Next question. They will “pause” the election for however long as needed, in whatever location is needed in order to print or adjust however many votes they need.

  • Jeff Wright

Early on, Democrats wanted folks in the Third Would to live as well as we do.

In FDR’s day, progressive programs were “dig that up, chop that down, dredge this river, drain that swamp.”

The problem with Obama saying “you didn’t build that” is that under the Greens&Groomers, you didn’t build that either.

Wages stagnate…and Biden wants poor people’s stoves.

So now the Teamsters back Trump…so here is hoping the GOP goes populist, with Biff Romney type blue bloods run out of the party.

No room at the inn for Mammon Mormon Mitt.

  • I have no doubt that Doubting Thomas is correct.

They MUST do something and it will be extreme.

    Why?

because they have no other options.

  • porkypine

Keep in mind the possibility the recent wave of “Trump is gaining and could win” polls may also involve a thumb on the scales – consider the simultaneous emergence of an overt “Dump Biden” faction among the Dems, and be wary. (Associated, certainly. But which came first?)

Yeah, extracting useful data from public polls is doable but tricky. My take, the Trump trend is real (albeit currently exaggerated for Dump-Biden effect in some polls) but I suspect the degree of it is not (yet!) enough to reliably overcome the Dem Margin O Cheat in the swing states. It’s gonna be an interesting year.

Cloudy, IMO the ideal is to vote for someone dedicated to Job One of legitimate governance: “to secure these rights”. And leave the rest of the thinking outside the door of government, for the rest of us to engage in as individuals and neighbors. We are closer to the problems, and pay more of a price when wrong, than that little intellectual elite we keep sending to the far-distant capital to plan our lives for us (allegedly) better than we can ourselves.

The problem is that our society has come to believe that the experience and common sense of an ordinary person counts for nothing, while “more qualified” requires the professional/academic focus of a rocket scientist – and is a synonym for omniscience and infallibility.

  • Jester:

This will be and has been an emotional / tribal vote for president.

And it is the media who has surrendered their even mild appearance of objectivity and have now fully for the most part surrendered their journalistic fiduciary responsibilities to the intent of the Constitution. And this condition has generated through their Left leaning and now fully Leftist anti American and anti-Constitution perspective.

The Left I.E. the Democrat party machine and the mass of the media are engaged in an attempt to through psychological means and propaganda re write and re structure the very Constitution that gives them their political power and freedom to destroy what it is that empowers them by law.

Chew on that for a while.

The question remains: Can the Constitution which is structured specifically to deal with such treachery and treason stand this assault?

    Stand by.

  • Related: A friend and a SIGMA3 reader sent me a comment about how they do not really agree with my interpretation of how things are in the world and the country regarding politics.

Freind, who is a solid and great and civilized man:

“This is why you and I will continue to agree to disagree on the state of the nation — while continuing to agree on the beauty of marinara, children, and the Sierra Nevada.

I was prompted to write though because of this morning’s thoughtful article by David Brooks. By sending you the link, I am not asking for your response to Brooks’s assessment of the state of affairs. Rather I present the article as a way for you to better imagine with whom you are speaking when I speak with you”.

    https://www.nytimes.com/2024/01/04/opinion/populism-trump-liberalism.html?unlocked_article_code=1.LU0.94oK.9Szzjb0Bylvs&smid=url-share

And I read the article and of course I was compelled to respond :) (Im not a big fan of Mr. Brooks or Mr. Freidman, both a bot too high minded for my tastes)

    My response:

    “Reading the Brooks article:

If what he proposes is so / true, and I would generally agree with at least some of what he proposes. But choose one power to “win” and have their world view dominate. Just to keep things simple.

D Brooks: “And the thugs are winning. Russia now has the momentum in Ukraine. China is growing increasingly aggressive in the waters around Taiwan. Trump is leading in many polls.” Choose one.

And where exactly do these other two political power opportunists get their encouragement to dominate? Through American perceived and real weakness. I.E. Joe Biden and his administration.

And that IMO is simply what today’s politics in America and the world comes down to. Choose one. While you still have the opportunity to choose that is.

Am I concerned about a possible 4 year Trump “MAGA” presidency?

No, no I am not. Why?

Because unlike the other main players in this planet wide competition for domination America and its Constitution alone limit what any American president can realistically accomplish one way or another. And the theory is that the people after they have in some way shape or form assed what the truth is either endorse or reject their government. The other two powers have no such theory or operation.

Again, since this is a Mr. Brooks observation about what the real reality is on the planet, choose one.

And PS: Joe Biden is in no way shape or form anyone who in the least emulates former President Reagan. I always saw him as just a stereo typical egomaniacal car salesman and a general bloviating jackass. (Seems to be a theme in those humans who aspire to the presidency)

Biden if you have read of my opinions of him is but a political facade for the Democrat machine, not a leader. The party has been highjacked by the radical Harvard educated high minded Leftists among the reasonable and good Democrats like you, your friends and family members, my family and friend, and what might be a surprise to you, ME.

I am a registered Democrat. JGL

    Sorry, couldn’t help myself :)

  • Mitch S

As “Porkypine” mentioned, I figure the Dems have been seeing bad numbers for Biden for some time and are going public to pressure Biden to get out. If Biden doesn’t budge don’t be surprised to see Dems quietly back charges against Hunter to pressure Joe into a deal ( step aside and when your replacement candidate wins Hunter will get a pardon)

  • To my point, the corporate media is gaslighting the American public 24 / 7 / 365.

JAKE TAPPER: “I know that the position of the Biden White House, which he used to belong to, is that, boy, they’ve done more on the conservative side of things than any Democratic president in recent history, keeping the COVID era rules in for as long as they could, in their view. You know, tightening up asylum laws to the point that they’re being sued, and this is, you know, with a — with a very important Latino base.”

President Biden is and has been apparently a very Conservative president and what those who oppose him, and his administration and his party are seeing is his actions exactly opposite from what he is in fact doing.

    Now THAT is rich.

It is all a propaganda psyops.

Understand that from the start and never be fooled. Or let me say be fooled less. And those in the corporate media are but the mouth pieces that spread their crafted for political party gain message.

    Journalism? What is that today?

  • pzatchok

This is not the democratic party of JFK. Its not even the party of bill Clinton anymore.
The democratic party used to be the representatives of the unions and poor people. Against the corporations and big business.
Today they are the party of big business and giant corporations. They are no longer for the poor people and unions. They are financed by big tech and represent them at all times. They take their money and use their tech influence to gain more power. They are now some of the biggest government contractors in the world spreading influence across all borders.
The democrat party has known since the baby boomer generation that Social Security was not sustainable at the growth rate they projected for it. It could not keep up with the rate of inflation. Their only possible way to save it would be to increase the birth rate but all those plans failed. Planned parenthood and welfare killed it all. One by reducing their target population and the other by reducing the amount of tax paying citizens.
They tried to increase the amount of democratic voters by stopping European immigrants and increasing the amount of third world immigrants. This failed for heir idealistic plan of SS is to drop all borders and hope they pay more taxes than they take. Can anyone see this working?
The more illegal immigrants they bring in the longer they can keep wages down. There is NO shortage of agricultural workers. If there was we would have just increased the number of green card holders, simple and legal. Its been done for years, every single year.
Open borders only helps businesses keep wages down.

  • pzatchok

This failed for their idealistic plan of SS so now all they have left is to drop all borders and hope the immigrants pay more taxes than they take.

  • ” pay more taxes than they take.”

Yeah, that’s their plan, a well thought out financial plan.

  • This is in fact how they think and act: https://youtu.be/Z4p-wpFarAY?si=Hco2KGibyfz6d1By

Just listen to the first 5 minutes and you will clearly understand how “they” think about just about everything.

And this obviously superior human being with the bow tie in the video is a great representation of most all of them.

    Hypocrisy? What’s that?

You are a hypocrite; they could never be such a thing..

    Remember its you, not them.

Here is another example how its you and not them: https://www.sigma3ioc.com/post/its-you-not-them-you-are-required-to-be-ignorant

Trump is a danger to the democracy.
    How?

If he gets into office again, he’ll expose how the Democrat party committed insurrection/treason, fraud with false testimony, overthrowing/undermining the election system with every illegal tactic that they could use, setting themselves up as tyrants. Ruling with executive orders/administrative rules, setting up nonsense economic investments, destroying our economy, ignoring the ruling of the Supreme Court… while lower courts are ruling that Trump is guilty of insurrection, when no one has been charged with this… let alone convicted of it!!!!
The very notion a preventing someone from running for office based solely on conjecture is the definition of destroying the democracy! Banana republic tactics.
In their democracy, you can run for office by approval only, vote if you’re not eligible to vote (like illegal, dead, felon, or fictional non-person) all for weeks after the election has ceased. (Deplorable‘s are not eligible to vote, it will be done “for them” or changed for the good of the ruling class democracy) according to the voting computers, Republicans are less then 3/5 of a person and their vote will be counted as such or perhaps not at all.

Here is a nice summary, 38 pages, nearly a complete list of all the fraud that took place to get unelectable Joe Biden into office. (The most extreme voter frauds that changed the results of the election)
    https://drive.google.com/file/d/19QQ9kSoofFGFrk4OONnEQfWxEZCh8ELB/view

As mentioned above, there’s talk about an emergency that the hidden ”deep state” will use (and not let go to waste) to prevent or misdirect the elections this fall. I believe Obama just released a movie on that subject detailing the grid going down and all the death that will occur… Haven’t watched it yet but they say that the script doesn’t blame the government for some reason. This is not a coincidence, our self proclaimed rulers have a plan for us, and they’re proud to take credit for the coming disasters. just like the movie “Plandemic”, predicted covid, the shots and lockdown that occurred just the way the movie detailed.

  • pzatchok, another possible way to balance the books of Social Security was to allow its funds to be invested in vehicles other than government securities – like every other insurance plan does with their premiums.

But Leftist profit-phobia prevented that – and ZIRP dropped the return on investment on those securities to near nothing for many years, which served the purpose of minimizing the perceived magnitude of government debt.
