In my own neighborhood, I have already seen one restaurant go out of business, and another apparently destroyed just as it was about to open. Through the winter a new Indian restaurant was being built nearby, with signs saying it would soon open. Unfortunately the house arrest imposed by our fearless leader Governor Doug Ducey prevented them from opening as planned. Though the restaurant had signs up offering take-out this week, when Diane tried to pick up a menu so we could give them some business. the place was shut. I suspect they are out of business, a dream destroyed before it could even be born.
But hey, we can’t risk having anyone die from COVID-19, no matter how many other lives we destroy.

I’m sick of eating at home. I miss everything about eating at restaurants. After this is all over I feel like the choice, and variety of restaurants will be limited because so many will be closed down, so sad.

My predictions:
1. By the time this is over, more people will have died due to the effects of trying to avoid the disease than would have died if the disease had been allowed to run its course.
2. Wars will break out of the consequences of our reaction to this disease.

Completely agree! I miss the Thai restaurant down the street. Seems to have completely boarded up. Not even take out. Hope they come out the other side intact but I have my doubts…
Nearly all the restaurants in my county (a rural one with a only a handful of reported cases and no deaths) are open for take-away — except Chinese restaurants. All four of them (two in the closest town, one each in two nearby towns) are closed, despite two of the four being take-away-only during normal times and the other two having proper dining areas but still doing a majority of business via take-away and delivery. Strange.
